Chapter 196 Never Coming Back!
Grace's eyes widened. "Why, don't you like her?"
"Just remember, she's not someone to mess with. I'll be back in the States soon. Behave, or you'll regret it!"
Grace was stunned. Before she could respond, Jesse ended the video call.
Jesse tossed his phone on the table, looking thrilled.
'Finally found Sharon!' he thought.
Grace stared at the blank screen, a cold glint in her eyes.
'What does he mean by Sharon's not someone to mess with?' she wondered.
Jesse's reaction didn't seem like he liked Sharon. If he did, he'd usually have someone take compromising photos and blackmail her.
The more Grace thought about it, the stranger it seemed. Something was definitely off!
But she couldn't figure out what.
After a while, she gave up. She'd find out once Jesse returned to the States.
That evening, as soon as Sharon got off work, two bodyguards stopped her in the parking lot.
"Ms. Wright, Tyler wants to see you."
Sharon's face hardened. "I have nothing to say to him."
The bodyguard remained calm. "Mr. Smith said if you don't go, he'll find Robert."
Sharon frowned. "Where?"
"We'll take you."
"I have a car."
After a brief standoff, the bodyguard called Tyler and then said, "Ms. Wright, Mr. Smith is waiting at the Heavenly Palace Hotel."
Over an hour later, Sharon arrived at the hotel.
A waiter led her to a private room where Tyler was waiting impatiently. As soon as she sat down, he spoke coldly, "I heard your lawyer submitted new evidence?"
"Mr. Smith, you're well-informed." Sharon smiled, meeting his gaze without fear.
Tyler's eyes were cold. His wrinkled face, similar to Seb's, still held an imposing aura.
"You can't win this case. Name your terms."
"I just want fairness."
A cold glint flashed in Tyler's eyes. "Fairness? Is that more important than your family? Think about it."
Sharon sneered. "Are you threatening me?"
"So what if I am? Do you think Seb will still protect you?"
Thinking of how both Seb and Alex had been charmed by Sharon, Tyler's disdain grew.
He shouldn't have let Alex marry Sharon!
"Of course, he won't protect me, but I won't withdraw the lawsuit."
"Whether you withdraw or not doesn't matter. Do you think a kidnapping charge will put David in jail?"
"Don't forget, there's also the charge of scheming against Robert Pharmaceuticals."
Tyler signaled to the bodyguard, who handed Sharon a file.
"Robert agreed to drop the lawsuit and took fifty million from me. If you don't back off, I can nail him for extortion. You don't want him in jail at his age, do you?"
Sharon opened the file, her eyes full of disbelief and anger, crumpling the document in her hands.
She was the plaintiff; Robert had no right to withdraw the lawsuit. Now, with the fifty million dollars from the Smith family, they could spin it as extortion.
Sharon tossed the file on the table, feeling a chill in her heart.
Robert must have known that taking the money would corner her.
But he still took it.
She lost—not to the Smith family, but to Robert.
Sharon looked up at Tyler, about to speak when the door suddenly opened.
Seb walked in, glaring at Tyler. "Dad, I told you not to bother her."
Tyler's face darkened. "Didn't you say yesterday we're no longer family? What does it matter to you if I bother her?"
Seb nodded. "You're right. Then the Silvercrest Group will trouble the Smith Group."
"You ungrateful brat! Just for a woman, you're going against the Smith Group?"
Seb's expression was cold, his eyes warning.
Since Seb walked in, Sharon had only glanced at him once. After that, she ignored him.
Sharon looked at Tyler and said, "I'll withdraw the lawsuit, but one day, I'll seek justice my way!"
With that, she turned to leave.
Seb stopped her at the door.
"If the Smith family bothers you again, contact me. I'll handle it."
Sharon looked up, annoyed. "Mr. Smith, I thought I made it clear. I don't want any more drama with you."
Seeing her cold eyes, Seb said, "I'm not here to cause drama. I just don't want the Smith family to trouble you."
"Aren't you part of the Smith family?"
The only difference between Seb and the rest of the Smith family was that he hadn't personally fought against Robert Pharmaceuticals and her.
Sharon's expression was indifferent. "Mr. Smith, no matter how the Smith family treats me, it's my business. You can't stand by my side, nor can you help the Smith family against me. So don't get caught in the middle. From now on, let's just be strangers."
With that, Sharon got into her car and left.
She sped to the hospital and quickly walked to Robert's ward.
Hearing laughter inside, she took a deep breath and pushed the door open.
Everyone inside was stunned.
"Sharon, what's wrong?"
Noticing her grim expression, Leo stood up and walked towards her.
But Sharon ignored him, staring coldly at Robert on the bed.
"In your eyes, am I only worth fifty million dollars? You should have asked Tyler for more, at least a hundred million!"
Robert frowned. "I warned you not to go against the Smith family."
"So you took Tyler's money behind my back and let him use it to threaten me to withdraw the lawsuit?"
Karen quickly interjected, "Sharon, your dad's health isn't good. He can't take any stress, and he used that money for—"
"I'm not talking to you. Please shut up."
Karen's face changed, but she stayed silent, looking hurt and dissatisfied.
Robert looked at Sharon with disappointment. "Sharon, you still don't realize your mistake and are instead taking it out on Karen. You've really disappointed me!"
Sharon chuckled coldly, her eyes icy. "I feel the same. I'm also very disappointed in you. I will withdraw the lawsuit, but I won't see you again. I'll transfer your medical expenses to your bank account every month. I'm leaving Metropolis soon and won't be coming back!"
