Chapter 151 You Always Have to Give Something, Right?
Noticing her cold attitude, Seb frowned and lowered his voice, "Something wrong?"
Sharon looked up, confused. "No, why?"
"You seem a bit down today."
Sharon shook her head. "No, sit down. I'll change your dressing."
Seb's gaze deepened, but he didn't push further. "Okay."
In silence, Sharon changed Seb's dressing, cleaned up, and then looked at him. "You should go. I have work."
Seb stared at her for a few seconds. "Are you mad because I didn't come back last night?"
Sharon was surprised. "No, why would you think that?"
"You're being cold. I must've done something wrong."
Meeting his gentle eyes, Sharon looked away. "No, maybe I just didn't sleep well."
"Really?"
"Yeah, you were busy all night at the office. It's not appropriate for you to stay here too long. We should keep a low profile."
Seb raised an eyebrow. "Why? We're a couple now."
"I just divorced Alex a few days ago. We already caused a scene at the company entrance last time. I don't like being the center of attention."
Seb wanted to say being with him meant she'd be noticed, but seeing her serious expression, he agreed. "I can give you time to adjust, but I don't want to wait too long."
Hearing Seb's assertive tone, Sharon hesitated, then nodded. "For now, let's avoid contact at the company. I won't go to your office for lunch; I'll eat with Ashley in the cafeteria."
Seb squinted, a dangerous glint in his eyes. "Are you regretting this?"
Sharon looked confused. "Regretting what?"
"What do you think!"
Seb's face darkened. "First, you say to keep a low profile, now you don't want to have lunch with me. You're avoiding me."
Caught in her thoughts, Sharon felt guilty and retorted, "I'm not. Too much has happened, and our relationship has changed. I need time to adjust."
"Then give me a deadline."
Sharon was speechless, thinking, 'Seb is really hard to fool.'
After a moment, she looked up at Seb. "Three months, okay?"
Seb refused immediately. "No, too long."
"Then one month, no less."
"One month it is."
"Okay, I need to do an experiment now. You should go back."
Sharon turned to leave, but Seb grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms. Before she could react, Seb's cold lips pressed against hers.
Sharon's eyes widened, and just as she was about to push him away, Seb let go and stepped back.
"What are you doing? This is the office; someone could come in!"
Seeing her embarrassment, Seb smiled. "A good morning kiss."
Noticing Sharon's displeasure, he pinched her blushed cheek and smiled. "I agreed to give you a month. You have to give something in return, right?"
"I'm just not used to being this close yet."
"I'll try to control myself, but if I can't, don't blame me."
Sharon was speechless, thinking, 'Is there any difference whether he says it or not?'
Seeing Sharon's face darken, Seb knew he should leave before she got angry. "I have a meeting later. Text me after work, and we'll go back together."
After Seb left, Sharon headed straight to the lab.
When Ashley saw her, she smiled. "Sharon, I went to your office earlier. Guess what I saw?"
"What?"
Sharon had a bad feeling. 'Did Ashley see Seb kissing me?'
Sure enough, Ashley's next words confirmed it.
Sharon coughed to hide her embarrassment. "Alright, let's get to work, or we'll be here all night."
"Okay, Sharon, I didn't expect to see you blush."
The morning flew by. The experiment needed seven hours of monitoring, so Sharon and Ashley took turns going to the cafeteria for lunch.
Sharon let Ashley go first and planned to go after her.
Not long after Ashley left, there was a knock on the lab door.
Sharon turned to see Rebecca at the door, her brows furrowing.
"Miss Walker, do you need something?"
Rebecca's lips curled into a cold smile, her eyes full of disdain. "Sharon, I didn't expect you to be so shameless, getting together with Seb!"
Sharon's expression turned cold. "Who I'm with is none of your business. Why do you care so much?"
Anger flashed across Rebecca's face. "Seb is just playing with you. In the end, he'll marry someone with a matching background. I'll be waiting to see you make a fool of yourself!"
Rebecca couldn't accept losing to Sharon, a divorced woman!
Sharon smiled slightly. "I don't know if I'll become a joke, but you coming to me with these ridiculous words makes you look like a fool."
"Don't be so smug, we'll see!"
With that, Rebecca turned and left.
Since she was with Seb, she wouldn't give up.
Rebecca also knew that Seb, as the CEO of Silvercrest Group and heir of the Smith family, would likely have women even after marriage.
Rebecca thought, 'But no matter what, Seb's wife will be me, Rebecca!'
As for Sharon, she wouldn't stay young and beautiful forever, and there would always be younger and prettier women.
Thinking this, Rebecca suddenly regretted coming to see Sharon.
Just as Rebecca reached the elevator, the doors opened.
Seeing Paul inside, Rebecca smiled. "Mr. Harris, what a coincidence."
Paul looked at her indifferently. "Miss Walker, it's not a coincidence. I'm here to find you. Mr. Smith has agreed to meet you."
Rebecca's eyes lit up with joy, and she quickly stepped into the elevator. "Really? That's great, I have the contract ready and can sign it anytime."
Paul's expression remained unchanged. "You can discuss the details with Mr. Smith later."
"Okay!"
Rebecca was full of joy, already thinking about how to get closer to Seb. Over time, he would surely realize she was more suitable for him than Sharon!
