Chapter 532 Don't Be Mad
Daniel's face went white, and he instinctively took a couple of steps back. "Mr. Scott, how did you..."
Jesse grinned. "You wanna know how I ended up here?"
Daniel stared at him, trembling all over.
"How I got here doesn't matter. What matters is, I wanna know what you were just talking about with Seb." Jesse's smile stayed put as he slowly moved from the window to the sofa and sat down. "Mr. Thomas, no need to be so jumpy. Come on, have a seat."
His tone was calm, but there was a chilling vibe that was downright scary.
Daniel swallowed hard, took a deep breath, and walked over to sit across from him. "I didn't say much. I was planning to pretend to team up with Silvercrest Group and then figure out a way to deal with them."
"Is that so?" Jesse looked up at him with a half-smile.
Daniel nodded. "Mr. Scott, did you come back to the country for something important?"
"Not really. Just wanted to check on the progress of the tasks I gave you."
"Mr. Scott, Silvercrest Group was about to go under, but then they got some investment from somewhere, and now they're back to their old strength. I only have the Thomas Group. Trying to take on Silvercrest Group is like an ant trying to move a mountain. It's impossible, and..."
Before he could finish, Jesse cut him off. "Daniel, did I give you too little investment? You've been back in the country for quite some time, and it seems like you haven't done anything. Silvercrest Group almost went bankrupt recently, but that was Leo's doing, the boss of Vertex Innovations Group, not yours."
"If you don't wanna do this, I won't force you. After all, we've known each other for a while, and we have some connection. But first, you need to hand over the Thomas Group to me."
"What?" Daniel's face turned ashen. If he handed over the Thomas Group, he'd have nothing left.
Seeing his distressed expression, Jesse chuckled. "What? You don't want to?"
He stood up and walked over to Daniel, looking down at him with cold eyes. "If you wanna keep the Thomas Group, then deal with Silvercrest Group properly. As for what you told Seb today, I don't care because nothing you say will affect me. I advise you to think carefully."
"Mr. Scott, I don't understand what you're saying."
"Daniel, the thing I hate most is someone who is both stupid and tries to be clever. I thought you weren't that kind of person, but it seems I overestimated you. I'll give you three days to decide which side you're on. If you can't decide, you and the Thomas Group can wait for your demise."
With that, Jesse didn't bother to look at him again and turned to leave.
As he walked out of the Thomas Villa, his subordinate asked where they were going.
"To meet with Mr. Roach."
After all, it was impossible to hide his return from Alton.
He might as well visit Alton first to make things easier later.
Half an hour later.
"Mr. Roach, I heard you were back in the country, so I came to say hello."
Alton was sitting in a chair in the hotel lobby, while Jesse stood nearby with a fawning smile.
After all, the Roach family was someone he needed to curry favor with. Now that Jeremy Stoll, the head of the Stoll family, was seriously ill, who the Stoll family would ultimately fall to had a lot to do with who Alton supported.
Alton glanced at him and spoke nonchalantly. "Mr. Scott, is there something important that brought you back to the country?"
Jesse's smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered. "The company's adjusting its business. We're planning to open a branch here next year, so I was sent to do some field research."
"If you're here to research, then do it properly. Don't get involved in anything unnecessary, or you might get burned."
"Mr. Roach, what do you mean by that? I don't quite understand." He looked at Alton, his eyes probing.
Alton closed his laptop, stood up, and looked at him. "If you don't understand, go back and think it over."
Without waiting for Jesse's reaction, Alton picked up his laptop and left.
Jesse turned to watch his retreating figure, his face darkening.
Alton's words were clearly a warning. But Jesse had just arrived in Metropolis, hadn't started taking action against Silvercrest Group, and hadn't even met with Sharon. How could Alton say such things?
Could it be... he had discovered what Jesse had done before?
A thousand thoughts flashed through Jesse's mind, but he dismissed them all.
No matter what, he would do what he had to do. He wouldn't change his plans for anyone, not even Alton.
Meanwhile, back at the Thomas Villa.
After Jesse left, Daniel tried to stand up but found his legs too weak to support him.
He was still deeply terrified of Jesse.
And Jesse's warnings clearly indicated that he knew Daniel had told Seb everything.
His face darkened as he found himself in a dilemma. Should he continue to work with Seb or remain under Jesse's control as his puppet?
If he had a choice, he wouldn't want either.
In the evening, Seb returned to the villa.
Walking into the living room, he saw Demetrius lying on the sofa and Sharon leaning on the edge, both asleep. His gaze softened involuntarily.
But then he remembered what Daniel had said that afternoon, and his mood grew heavy again.
He walked over to Sharon and carefully picked her up, intending to carry her upstairs. But as soon as he reached the stairs, Sharon woke up.
Her eyes still a bit hazy, she saw Seb's handsome face close to hers and was momentarily stunned. It took a few seconds for her to fully wake up.
"When did you get back?"
"Just now. I was going to carry you upstairs to sleep, but I woke you up."
Hearing this, Sharon couldn't help but laugh. "Put me down. I'll go wash my face."
Seb smiled and continued carrying her upstairs.
Sharon was startled by his actions and quickly wrapped her arms around his neck. "What are you doing? Put me down!"
"I'm carrying you upstairs."
"No, if Dana sees us, it'll be embarrassing!"
Just then, Dana's voice came from the living room. "Ms. Roach, I'm old and my eyesight is failing. I didn't see anything. You two carry on."
Sharon fell silent.
Seeing her face turn red like a ripe tomato, Seb couldn't help but chuckle and quickened his pace.
"Seb!" She called his name softly, her voice tinged with frustration.
"We're almost there. Don't worry."
Was she worried?
Sharon glared at him, her eyes filled with annoyance. Seb leaned down and pecked her on the lips, smiling. "Alright, I won't tease you next time. Don't be mad. I apologize."
As he spoke, Seb carried her into the bedroom.
Sharon jumped out of his arms and huffed. "I don't accept your apology!"
As soon as she said that, a sparkling diamond necklace appeared in front of her.
