Chapter 595 Since You Don't Want Me to Investigate, Then Tell Me the Truth

Carolyn shook her head, wanting to refuse again, but suddenly everything went black, and she fainted.

When she woke up, she found herself in a hospital room. Carolyn stared at the ceiling for several seconds before remembering that she had fainted in her study.

Fully awake, Carolyn slowly sat up and noticed the IV in her hand, frowning.

Soon, the door to the room opened, and the butler walked in.

Seeing Carolyn awake, his eyes lit up with joy. "Mrs. Stoll, you're finally awake! You've been out for a whole day and night!"

Carolyn's eyes widened in disbelief. "A whole day and night? Seriously?"

"The doctor said you've been severely sleep-deprived and emotionally stressed, which caused you to vomit blood. You need to get at least eight to ten hours of sleep every day from now on, or your health will deteriorate further."

Carolyn's face turned grim. She was racing against time every day, trying to get her people in place before Jeremy fully recovered, and she still had to deal with the southern land issue. Gareth and Daisy were also constant headaches.

As she thought about it, her emotions began to surge again.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, Carolyn asked, "When can I leave?"

"At least finish this IV bag first."

Carolyn nodded and said no more.

The butler opened the food box he had brought and looked at Carolyn. "Mrs. Stoll, are you hungry? You should eat something."

Just as Carolyn was about to speak, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in."

Gage walked in quickly and approached the bed. "Mrs. Stoll, Dash visited Jeremy last night and stayed in his room for several hours."

Carolyn's eyes turned cold. "Keep an eye on his every move. If there's any news, inform me immediately."

"Yes, Mrs. Stoll. By the way, I've temporarily detained Ewan. What should we do next?"

"Has Mary noticed his disappearance?"

"It seems not. Since I detained Ewan, Mary hasn't sent anyone to look for him."

"Good. Keep him locked up, give him food and water daily, and take away his phone. Don't let him contact the outside world."

Gage lowered his eyes. "Understood."

"Any news from Sharon?"

"Not yet. Someone is deliberately hiding their whereabouts, but it doesn't seem to be the Bermad Family helping them."

Carolyn narrowed her eyes and said in a low voice, "Besides the Bermad Family, no one else would help them. Keep an eye on the Bermad Family."

"Got it."

After Gage left, Carolyn lost her appetite and told the butler, "Put the food away. I'm not hungry."

The butler sighed. "Mrs. Stoll, your body is already weak. If you don't eat, you'll get worse, and you won't be able to work."

Hearing this, Carolyn smiled wryly. "You always know what to say to get to me. Bring the food over."

After eating some pastries, Carolyn checked the IV bag and saw it was half empty. She was about to rest when the door opened again.

Daisy walked in with red-rimmed eyes. Seeing Carolyn pale and weak, unlike her usual sharp and capable self, Daisy's tears immediately fell.

"Mom, why didn't you tell me you were sick? I just found out."

Carolyn turned her head away, not wanting to look at her. "Didn't you say you wanted to move out and cut ties with me?"

Daisy's eyes widened in disbelief. "I just wanted to move out, not cut ties with you!"

"Moving out is the same as cutting ties. I said I wouldn't give you any more money. Would you still contact me after moving out?"

Daisy was momentarily speechless but then said, "I just want to be independent, not cut ties with you."

Of course, she also wanted to prove to Carolyn that the man she loved wasn't wrong.

Daisy had decided long ago that she would only marry Andrew.

Carolyn didn't look at her or say anything more.

Daisy pulled up a chair and sat down. "Mom, why did you suddenly faint and end up in the hospital? Do you have a medical report? Let me see it."

Carolyn's tone remained cold. "Don't worry, I'm not dying."

"Mom, don't say such unlucky things!"

Carolyn pursed her lips but didn't say anything more after seeing the worry and fear in Daisy's eyes.

When the IV was finished, a nurse came in and told Carolyn she could be discharged.

Carolyn got out of bed and, before leaving, said to Daisy, "I know you're all about Andrew right now, and you won't listen to anything I say. I won't scold you anymore. If you want to move out and be independent, go ahead. But if you ever want to come back, you'll have to marry the person I choose for you."

In Carolyn's view, Daisy wouldn't last long on her own.

After all, she had spent a lot of money raising Daisy to be the delicate person she was.

Once Daisy moved out and Carolyn stopped giving her money, she would soon realize the truth of Carolyn's words.

Daisy bit her lip and looked directly at Carolyn. "Fine, I'll prove to you that Andrew and I can be happy without your support!"

Seeing Daisy's confident look, Carolyn didn't argue further and left.

Meanwhile, in Jeremy's hospital room.

Since Jeremy woke up, many Stoll family members had visited him, all wanting to know when he would be discharged and return to manage the family.

Jeremy always said he would wait until he was fully recovered.

After sending off another family member, Mary looked at Jeremy. "Jeremy, you just woke up and haven't fully recovered. Seeing so many people every day isn't good for you. How about we announce that you're resting and won't see visitors starting tomorrow?"

Jeremy looked at Mary and saw the concern in her eyes.

His heart softened, and he agreed. "Alright, I'll listen to you."

"I'll get you some water."

"No need, I'm not thirsty. By the way, where's Ewan? I haven't seen him since the day I woke up."

Mary's eyes flickered with guilt, and she avoided Jeremy's gaze.

"Ewan... I don't know. Maybe he's busy. I'll call him later."

Noticing Mary's odd behavior, Jeremy frowned. "Mary, is something wrong?"

"No, nothing's wrong. Ewan has his own work, so it's normal he can't visit every day."

Jeremy didn't believe her and stared at her expressionlessly.

Managing the Stoll family for so many years, Jeremy had an intimidating presence when he was serious.

Mary visibly tensed, her eyes darting around, avoiding Jeremy's gaze.

After a long silence, seeing that Mary had no intention of speaking, Jeremy said coldly, "If you don't tell me, I'll have someone investigate."

"No! Don't! Don't investigate!"

If people found out Ewan caused Gareth's car accident, his life would be over.

And Jeremy wouldn't forgive Ewan.

But now, Mary had no choice but to tell Jeremy the truth.

If she lied again, Jeremy would see through it.

She was caught in a dilemma.

"If you don't want me to investigate, tell me the truth!"

Mary took a deep breath and, after a long hesitation, finally decided to speak. "Gareth had a car accident and lost a leg."

Jeremy's eyes widened in shock and disbelief, but he quickly understood and said coldly, "Is this related to Ewan?"

"Jeremy, Ewan just wanted to teach Gareth a lesson, but it went wrong. Ewan is scared and guilty, so he's hiding."

As Mary finished speaking, the room fell into a suffocating silence.

Jeremy stared at her, anger flooding his eyes.

"An accident? Mary, do you think a car accident is an accident? Don't forget, Gareth is also my son! Where is Ewan? Bring him back immediately!"

Mary's expression changed, and she forgot to cry. "What are you going to do to Ewan?"

"Since he caused Gareth to lose a leg, he should repay with his own."

Mary couldn't believe her ears.

After all these years together, and all Ewan had done for him, Jeremy was willing to sacrifice Ewan for Gareth.

Mary felt a chill in her heart.

Her gaze became firm. "Jeremy, I won't bring Ewan back. Clearly, Gareth is your real son, and Ewan is just a bastard."

Seeing Mary's refusal, Jeremy's face fell.

"Mary, even if you don't contact Ewan, I can find him."

"Fine, go ahead. I'm disgusted that Ewan has a father like you! Do you know how we lived while you were in a coma? Ewan was scared, so he went after Gareth!"

"I don't want to hear your excuses. If you can't teach Ewan, I will!"

Mary laughed coldly and stood up. "Jeremy, don't forget, Gareth and Carolyn poisoned you, making you weak. I took care of you while you were in a coma."

"I thought once you woke up, Ewan and I wouldn't have to live in fear. I was wrong."

"If you're so heartless, don't blame me."

Noticing Mary's strange look, Jeremy's expression changed. "What are you planning?"
