Chapter 16 Won't Let This Baby Be Born
Upstairs, Sharon finally breathed a sigh of relief after Alex closed the door, as if she had just survived a disaster. She quickly sat up, walked to the window, hesitated for a moment, then closed her eyes and jumped out.
Seb had just walked out of the house and was heading towards the car when he saw Paul standing there with a strange expression on his face.
Seb asked, "What's wrong?"
Paul hesitated. "Mr. Smith, it might be best if you see for yourself."
Seb frowned slightly and opened the car door directly.
What met Seb's eyes was Sharon, her clothes disheveled, looking at him timidly. Anyone who didn't know better might think he had done something indecent to her.
Seb angrily slammed the car door shut and asked coldly, "What exactly happened?"
Paul replied, "I'm not quite sure. Just now, Ms. Wright limped out of the house and said she wanted you to take her away from here."
"And you just let her get in the car?" Seb's brows furrowed tightly, feeling annoyed. He had come today to warn Alex precisely because of what almost happened that night. From the moment Seb walked out of the house, he didn't want to have any connection with her.
Sensing Seb's displeasure, Paul shrank his neck and lowered his head, saying, "Mr. Smith, I'm sorry. My bad."
If it weren't for the fact that Sharon was Seb's relative, Paul wouldn't have had the courage to let her in the car at all.
Seb said, "If it happens again, you'll be assigned to a tough area."
Paul asked, "So what do we do now? Should I kick Ms. Wright out of the car?"
Seb sneered, "If she gets out of my car and someone sees, it'll be hard for me to explain the situation."
Paul lowered his head, regretting not locking the car when he saw Sharon.
Seb said, "Alright, get in the car."
Seb took off his suit jacket and threw it to Sharon.
Sharon felt anxious, worried that Seb would kick her out of the car. After all, they had only met a few times, and she couldn't gauge Seb's temper. Just as she was thinking about how to escape if Seb did kick her out, the car door suddenly opened, and a jacket was thrown at her.
The jacket covered her head, blocking her vision, but Seb's voice came through clearly, "Put it on."
The scent of pine mixed with a hint of tobacco made her heart race. She bit her lip, took the jacket off her head, and put it on. Seb's jacket still retained his warmth, and Sharon lowered her head, instinctively gripping the hem of the suit tightly. This was the first time she had worn another man's clothes, and it was in such an awkward situation.
The next moment, Seb's tall figure got into the car, his expression indifferent as he instructed the driver to start the car.
Meanwhile, upstairs, Alex was still trying to figure out the situation when his phone suddenly rang in his pocket. Seeing the screen display "Mom," his eyes flickered slightly.
As soon as Alex answered the call, an angry voice came through the phone, "Alex, come to my place immediately."
After a pause, she added, "Don't bring Sharon. Ava is here with me."
Upon hearing this, Alex immediately understood that Ava must have told his mother, Clara Clark, about her pregnancy; otherwise, Clara wouldn't be so angry.
"I'll be right there." His voice was low, trying hard to suppress his inner rage. If he had known Ava would be so troublesome, he would never have impulsively slept with her.
After hanging up the phone, he turned to glance upstairs, took a deep breath, and quickly walked towards the garage. Outside, as the black Maybach started, Sharon noticed Alex's car passing by, a wave of unease washed over her. It wasn't until Alex's car quickly disappeared from view that Sharon finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Calming herself, she turned to Seb and said, "Seb, thanks for helping me today. Could you drop me off at a place where I can catch a cab?"
Seb glanced at her, his expression indifferent. "In your current state, what do you think a cab driver would assume?"
Sharon's face instantly turned extremely awkward. In her rush to escape, she had forgotten to change her clothes. Indeed, she wasn't in a suitable condition to hail a cab.
She said, "Then could you please drop me off at the entrance of the apartment complex I rent?"
"Okay." Seb looked at her and suddenly frowned.
Feeling a knot in her chest under his penetrating stare, Sharon sensed his discontent. "Seb, is something bothering you?
Seb replied, "You're sitting on my documents."
It was only then that Sharon realized she had felt uncomfortable when she got into the car but had been too worried about Alex showing up to notice the documents on the seat.
"I'm sorry." She quickly stood up and picked up the documents, hesitating whether to hand them to Seb.
Paul, in the front passenger seat, noticed her embarrassment and reached out to take the documents from her. "Ms. Wright, I'll take it."
Sharon knew that Seb probably wouldn't touch those documents again.
The car remained silent until the Maybach stopped at the entrance of Fortune Garden, and Sharon finally breathed a sigh of relief. Being in the car with Seb made her feel immense pressure and tension.
She opened the car door and got out, turning to Seb and saying, "Seb, thank you. I'll return the clothes to the Silvercrest Group's front desk after I wash them."
Seb said, "No need. Just throw them away."
Sharon's grip on the car door tightened involuntarily. She bit her lip and said softly, "Okay, sorry for the trouble, Seb."
As she closed the car door, the black Maybach started and drove away. From Seb's attitude, it was clear that he probably disliked her. Seb was naturally aloof, and their few encounters had been unpleasant, so it was understandable that he found her annoying.
Sharon turned and slowly walked towards Fortune Garden, soon disappearing into the building.
When Alex arrived at his parents' house, he saw Ava and Clara sitting together, chatting and laughing, and a coldness flashed in his heart. He had long been fed up with Ava.
Ava had taken his money and secretly left the hospital, then started playing the disappearing act. Even more shamelessly, Ava had told Sharon about her pregnancy while he was on a business trip, making Sharon hate him even more. Now, she had run to Clara's side, and it seemed she had been flattering Clara quite well in recent days.
"Mom, what are you doing?" Alex asked, displeased by Clara's expression.
Clara took a sip of tea, her expression still calm. "Take a seat first. Let's talk about Ava's pregnancy."
Alex shot a cold, mocking glance at Ava and said, "Talk about what? I absolutely won't let this baby be born."
If this baby were to stay, his relationship with Sharon would be completely ruined.
