Chapter 541 A Weight on His Chest

Seb let out a mocking laugh, his face twisted with disdain.

"A better life? When the Wright family went bankrupt, where were you? Why didn't you take her to Stellaria then? We all know why you're really back, so cut the crap."

There was silence on the other end of the line.

Alton hadn't expected Seb to figure out his true intentions for coming to Metropolis so quickly.

After a long pause, he finally spoke, "Even if my reasons for coming back aren't pure, taking her and Demetrius to Stellaria would still give them a better life, wouldn't it?"

"A better life, or a life filled with fear? I won't let her become a pawn in your family's power games. If you want to take her and Demetrius, you'll have to go through me first!"

"If she comes with me to Stellaria, she has a good chance of inheriting the Stoll family fortune. Mr. Smith, have you even asked Sharon if she wants to live a life of luxury?"

If Sharon became the heir to the Stoll family, her life would reach heights she could never imagine, with wealth that could last for generations.

Wouldn't that be better than staying in Metropolis?

"Are you telling me this because she turned you down this morning?"

If Sharon really wanted that life, Alton wouldn't be wasting his breath on him now.

"She turned me down because she doesn't understand what the Stoll family represents. Once she knows, she'll come with me."

"Fine, let's see who knows her better."

Seb hung up the phone, his face darkening.

He and Sharon had just started to build a life together, and he wouldn't let anyone ruin it.

That evening, Seb returned to the villa.

He saw Sharon playing Pictionary with Demetrius. Sharon was drawing while Demetrius guessed.

Demetrius struggled to guess what Sharon was drawing, and when time ran out, he still hadn't figured it out.

Sharon revealed the word she was trying to draw, and Demetrius fell silent.

The word and her drawing were so unrelated that it was impossible to guess without some kind of x-ray vision.

Seeing Demetrius's unhappy face, Sharon asked, "Demetrius, what's wrong? Are you upset because you couldn't guess it?"

Demetrius looked at her, "Mom, I don't think this game is for you."

They had been playing for a while, and Sharon hadn't drawn a single thing that could be guessed. Even Mondrian would call it abstract.

Sharon paused, then couldn't help but laugh. "Why not?"

"Your drawings are too abstract. No one but you can understand them."

Sharon glanced at Seb and handed him the drawings, "Take a look. Can you guess what these are?"

Seb took the first drawing, which was supposed to be an animal, but it looked neither like an elephant nor a hippo. He frowned and hesitantly guessed, "Is it... a walrus?"

"No... try again."

"A hippo? An elephant?"

Seb guessed over ten times but still didn't get it right. Sharon's face darkened.

She took the first drawing away, "Alright, try the second one."

Seb looked at the second drawing, which he could tell was a pair of feet.

"Boots?"

"No."

"Rain boots?"

"No."

"Stockings?"

"No, it's torn socks! Didn't you see the holes I drew?"

"I thought they were just worn out."

Sharon fell silent.

She began to doubt herself. Were her drawings really that bad?

"Seb, be honest with me. Are my drawings really that abstract?"

Seb paused, choosing his words carefully, "Not really. Some words are just hard to draw. Next time, pick simpler words."

Demetrius bluntly interjected, "Dad, don't lie just to make Mom feel better. Her drawings are very abstract."

Seb glared at him, "Be quiet!"

Demetrius huffed, "Fine, I won't play Pictionary with Mom anymore!"

"Then don't. I'll play with her!"

Both Demetrius and Sharon fell silent.

Actually, she didn't really want to play the game either.

"Alright, it's getting late. Let's have dinner."

"Okay."

After dinner, Sharon followed Seb to the study.

"Seb, is something wrong at work? You seem troubled."

Seb turned to her, his eyes deep, "No, just tired. By the way, why didn't you tell me Alton came to see you today?"

Sharon was surprised he knew, "I didn't think it was important. How did you find out?"

"After Alton saved Demetrius, I had someone follow him. He must have told you about your connection. What do you think?"

Sharon lowered her eyes, taking a long time to respond, "I won't leave with him. To me, he's just a stranger."

"That's all I needed to hear."

Sharon looked up at him, annoyed, "What do you mean by that? Did you think I would leave you?"

"No, but I was worried you might agree to go to Stellaria to see your mom."

Sharon was silent for a moment, then slowly said, "I don't want to see her. She hasn't visited me in years, and she has a new family now. There's no need to meet."

Seb pulled her into his arms, gently stroking her hair, "Demetrius and I are your family. Don't be sad."

"Okay."

After a while, Sharon left the study.

At the Bridges Villa

Garry sneered, "I knew Sharon wouldn't help. She's with Seb. Why would she help the Bridges family?"

Thinking about Seb holding 10% of the Bridges Group's shares kept Garry up at night, feeling like a weight was on his chest.

Damon's face was grim, "Grandpa, what do we do next?"

If they couldn't reclaim those shares, managing the company would be difficult.

Garry's face darkened, and after a long pause, he said, "If Seb won't cooperate, we'll have to use other means to get those shares back."

Damon's eyes lit up, "Grandpa, you mean?"

"There are many companies in Metropolis that want to take down Silvercrest Group. We can either work with Silvercrest Group or those companies."
