Chapter 216 Sharon Probably Can't Afford to Pay Billions of Dollars, Right?

Victor called his secretary into the office and said coldly, "Call Samuel and tell him to get ready to take action against Sharon."

Dominic Davenport, the secretary, saw the cracked phone on the floor and nodded. "Yes, Mr. Edwards, I'll handle it."

He picked up the phone and left the office, immediately arranging to buy a new one.

Samuel got the call while at a prenatal checkup with his girlfriend, Rose Collins.

Hearing he had to act against Sharon, Samuel hesitated. Victor had initially said to just scare Sharon, not harm her.

Sensing Samuel's hesitation, Dominic said coldly, "Mr. Sullivan, did you think the money would come so easily?"

When Victor first approached Samuel, he was desperate. Rose's parents had threatened to take her for an abortion if he couldn't come up with the money.

Victor gave him a million dollars to stalk and harass Sharon, explaining that Sharon was the daughter of Robert, the former owner of Robert Pharmaceuticals. An accident at the company had killed Victor's grandfather, making Sharon his enemy.

Samuel knew Sharon had nothing to do with the incident and that Robert had compensated them after the company went bankrupt. But for his child's sake, Samuel reluctantly took the job.

Now, being asked to actually harm Sharon, Samuel regretted his decision.

"Mr. Davenport, this is a crime. I'll return the money; I won't do it."

Dominic sneered. "You think you can just walk away? If you back out, and something happens to your girlfriend and her baby, that's on you."

Samuel's face darkened. "Are you threatening me?"

"Let's just say you have no choice. You can choose between Sharon's life and your girlfriend and child's lives."

Dominic hung up.

Samuel's expression was furious, and he almost crushed his phone.

If he could turn back time, he would never have taken that money.

"Samuel, here's the checkup B-scan from earlier. Look, these are the baby's hands and feet. So cute."

Rose showed him the scan, pointing out the baby's hands and feet.

Samuel's eyes reddened.

Seeing his tears, Rose laughed. "Why are you crying? Shouldn't you be happy? In two months, our baby will be born. Then I'll give you the money I've been saving, and after our wedding, we'll move out and rent a place. The three of us can live happily together."

"But where did you get all that money?" Rose asked.

Samuel forced a smile. "Didn't I tell you? My grandfather died in an accident at work. That money is the compensation."

Rose looked guilty. She held his hand and said softly, "I'm sorry. After we get married, I'll work hard to earn money too. We'll make it back."

"Yeah, let's go."

Samuel helped Rose out of the hospital. On the way back, Rose kept chatting about their future.

Usually, Samuel would join in, but today he was unusually quiet.

Rose asked him several times, and he only said he was tired from work.

After dropping Rose off at home, Samuel watched her and made a decision.

'I have to protect Rose and the baby, even if it means committing a crime,' he thought.

He called Dominic and gritted his teeth. "I'll do it, but you have to wait until my girlfriend gives birth."

"No, that's too late."

Samuel sneered. "Mr. Davenport, I can also tell Sharon what you're planning. You just want someone to take the fall. Don't I even have the right to decide the timing?"

"If you tell Sharon, your child might not even get a chance to be born."

"Mr. Davenport, if anything happens to my family, I'll post our phone conversation online. You don't want this to blow up, do you? I just need two months."

Dominic was silent for a moment, then said coldly, "I'll consult with Mr. Edwards and get back to you."

After hearing Dominic's words, Victor sneered. "Two months? No way, give him a week at most!"

"Mr. Edwards, if we push too hard, it might backfire."

"Then two weeks. I can't wait any longer. If he tries to threaten us, kill him."

'Samuel, that little nobody, dares to make demands?' Victor thought.

"Understood."

After reporting this, Dominic hesitated and said, "Mr. Edwards, Paul just came by to deliver the termination contracts."

Victor's eyes flashed with anger.

'Seb is serious about this! Fine! Let's see who backs down first!' Victor thought.

"Bring the contracts. I'll sign them right now!"

With the signed termination contracts from Victor, Paul left.

Back at Silvercrest Group, Seb took the contracts and glanced at them, his expression icy. "No problem, put them away."

"Mr. Smith, are you really terminating the partnership with the Edwards group over such a small matter? What if word gets out?"

Seb looked at Paul with cold eyes. "Do you think him sending someone to stalk Sharon and planning to harm her is a small matter?"

Sensing Seb's displeasure, Paul quickly lowered his head. "I just think Mr. Edwards didn't actually harm Ms. Wright. Isn't this a bit of an overreaction?"

"Since when do you get to tell me what to do?"

"I wouldn't dare."

"Then do what I say."

Paul sighed silently and was about to leave when Seb suddenly said, "Call a board meeting in half an hour to discuss how to handle the data leak."

"Yes."

Half an hour later, as Seb stepped into the conference room, board member Boris Blackwell spoke sarcastically, "Mr. Smith, I don't see what there is to discuss. Just follow company policy. If you cover for your girlfriend because she's the one who made the mistake, does that mean we can cover for our subordinates if they make mistakes?"

Seb's face remained calm. He walked to the head of the table and sat down, then coldly looked at Boris.

"Mr. Blackwell, if you don't want to attend this meeting, you can leave now."

Boris's face stiffened, but he didn't speak or leave.

"Today's meeting is mainly to discuss compensation."

Boris couldn't help but speak sarcastically again, "Mr. Smith, Sharon can't afford billions in compensation, can she?"

"If she can't, I'll pay for her."
