Chapter 46 Disgusted to the Extreme
Seeing that it was Alex calling, Sharon flashed with impatience in her eyes, and she hung up immediately.
Alex called a few more times, but seeing that Sharon wasn't answering, he finally stopped.
Meanwhile, Alex angrily threw his phone on the ground, his face dark and terrifying. "Joseph, send someone to keep an eye on Maple Valley. Let me know immediately if anything's off."
He didn't want to be a cuckcold if he was being cheated on.
Joseph wanted to offer some advice, but seeing Alex's grim face, he didn't dare to speak. "Okay, I'll go right away."
After Joseph left, Alex looked at the documents on his desk, his brow furrowed with irritation, unable to read a single word.
Just thinking about Sharon possibly being alone with Seb made him feel like thousands of ants were crawling inside him.
However, with his current power, he didn't dare to confront Seb.
A knock on the door interrupted Alex's thoughts. The office door opened, and Ava, with her exquisite makeup and wearing a black deep V-neck dress, walked in.
Upon seeing her, Alex's frown deepened. "What are you doing here?"
The disgust and coldness in Alex's eyes pierced Ava's heart like a needle, making her smile freeze for a moment. But she quickly adjusted her expression, walked to the desk with a report in hand, and handed it to Alex. "Mr. Smith, I had a check-up today. The doctor said the baby is very healthy."
Alex glanced at the report with an indifferent expression, showing no change. "Got it. You don't need to come and tell me in person next time, and don't appear in front of my wife again."
Ava's fingertips holding the report turned slightly white, her eyes reddened involuntarily, and she lowered her head slowly. "I understand."
Seeing Ava's dejected look, trying to hide her sadness, Alex couldn't help but feel a twinge of pity for her, as if he saw his own cautious self in front of Sharon.
He pursed his lips, his tone softening a bit. "The most important thing for you now is to give birth to the baby. I won't treat you unfairly."
Initially, when he discovered Ava was pregnant, he didn't want the baby. But when he took her to the hospital for an abortion, the doctors cited her thin uterine wall and the risk of severe bleeding. They wouldn't perform the procedure, so they ended up keeping the baby.
Moreover, every time he faced rejection from Sharon, it was Ava who comforted him.
Gradually, Alex's attitude towards Ava and her unborn child changed significantly.
Ava suddenly looked up, her eyes still glistening with tears, looking pitiful.
She broke into a smile, choking up as she said, "I know, I just couldn't help but share the joy with you."
Seeing Ava's satisfaction from his words, Alex felt hisheart softened a bit more. "Come here."
Ava walked to his side, and Alex pulled her into his arms, seating her on his lap.
She gasped softly, instinctively wrapping her arms around Alex's neck.
Under the slit of Ava's dress, her fair, slender legs were faintly visible, stirring up fantasies.
Since Sharon discovered his affair, Alex had been suppressing his desires.
Now, upon seeing this scene, his breathing became heavier.
After thinking about Sharon and Seb going on a business trip, possibly having something happen, Alex's eyes darkened, and his hand instinctively reached under Ava's dress.
Feeling Alex's movement, Ava softened her body. "Mr. Smith."
Her hands pressed against his chest, seemingly resisting but actually more like seducing.
"Call me Alex."
"Alex..."
"Again."
Soon, the office was filled with the sound of heavy breathing.
Ava's upper body was pressed against the desk, her skirt hiked up to her waist, her body writhing and moaning.
Alex gripped her waist, frantically releasing his pent-up frustration, his eyes dark.
After what seemed like an eternity, just as Ava felt she might faint, Alex pressed hard against her, both of them reaching their peak together.
Afterwards, as Ava was about to pick up her underwear, a sharp pain suddenly hit her lower abdomen, turning her flushed face pale. "Alex, my stomach hurts."
Upon remembering that Ava was less than three months pregnant and that he hadn't controlled himself, Alex's face changed. He scooped her up and quickly walked out.
In the evening, Sharon was about to leave after receiving a message from Paul when she suddenly got a message from Brian.
After reading it, her face turned pale.
Alex had just called her, and now he was in the hospital with Ava after having sex. It was utterly disgusting.
Luckily, she had never planned to forgive Alex. Otherwise, knowing this would have made her even more sickened.
Taking a deep breath, Sharon messaged Brian to keep an eye on things, then put away her phone and left. But her mood was affected by this incident. She barely ate anything all night and remained mostly silent.
Several times, folks from BioGenX Pharmaceuticals reached out to her, but she wasn't prompt in responding. Without Paul's consistent intervention, they might have become frustrated.
When the dinner finally ended, Paul sighed in relief.
On the way back to the hotel, Seb frowned at Sharon. "I don't like employees who bring personal emotions into work."
Although she wasn't an employee of the Silvercrest Group, being with him meant she represented the group.
Sharon knew she had performed poorly tonight and lowered her head. "Mr. Smith, I'm sorry."
Seb said, "I don't want to hear apologies. If you conduct experiments in this state, I can't trust you won't make mistakes."
Sharon said, "Mr. Smith, I promise it won't happen again."
Seb stared at her intensely, his presence making Sharon unconsciously clench her fingers, her lower lip turning white from biting.
Seb said, "You'd better keep your word."
If she were an employee of the Silvercrest Group, she would have been fired after tonight's dinner. Seb wouldn't give a second chance.
In the front seat, Paul saw Sharon hanging her head like a scolded schoolchild and didn't dare speak up for her.
After all, when Seb got angry, who would dare to intervene?
Back at the hotel, everyone returned to their rooms.
Closing the door, Sharon sat on the sofa and began saving the photos Brian had sent.
Even though she had the evidence, she couldn't feel happy.
She couldn't understand why Alex could promise not to cheat while still having an affair with Ava.
His actions were slowly eroding the last bit of good memories between them.
Sharon couldn't figure it out and didn't want to. She took a deep breath, placed her phone face down on the table, and got up to freshen up.
Suddenly, her phone on the table vibrated.
Upon seeing someone from BioGenX Pharmaceuticals, a flash of confusion crossed her eyes.
As soon as she answered, a gentle female voice came through. "Ms. Wright, this is Sunny Bell. You left your scarf at the restaurant. I'm on my way to return it to you. Which room are you in?"
Scarf?
Sharon recalled that she wore a dress tonight and didn't have a scarf.
She said, "Ms. Bell, I didn't wear a scarf tonight. You must be mistaken."
"It can't be wrong, Ms. Wright. You'll understand when you see it."
Hearing this, Sharon knew what was going on.
Returning the scarf was just an excuse; the real intention was to get close to her.
