Chapter 492 He Couldn't Go Against Everyone
Demetrius glanced at Jerold, who was bawling with snot running down his face, and a look of disdain flickered in his eyes.
"How old is he now? Still crying like a baby," Demetrius thought.
Leo, already looking stern, noticed everyone staring at him and Jerold, and his expression grew even colder.
It felt like a chill swept through the crowd, and everyone instinctively pulled their coats tighter.
Leo had donated a building to the school, and Connie had been warned by Byron to keep Leo happy during the sports event. Seeing the situation, she quickly stepped forward.
"Jerold, why are you crying? Are you feeling sick?"
Jerold, seeing someone paying attention to him, felt even more justified and started rolling on the ground, crying and shouting for his mom.
Leo felt a headache coming on; he had never been so embarrassed.
"Jerold, get up!" He glared at Jerold, who refused to move, his face darkening.
Jerold whined, "No, if you don't let me see Mom, I won't get up!"
Leo suppressed his anger and nodded, "Fine, get up first, and I'll take you to see your mom."
"Really?" Jerold looked at him suspiciously. After all, Leo had refused to take him to see Ayla earlier, so why was he being so agreeable now?
"Really, just get up."
"No, you call Mom first. I want to talk to her."
Leo took a deep breath, fighting the urge to leave him there, and took out his phone to call Ayla.
Soon, Ayla's cold voice came through, "Why are you calling me?"
"Jerold says he wants to see you."
Ayla sneered, "Didn't you say you'd never let me see Jerold again?"
Leo didn't respond, just handed the phone to Jerold.
Jerold quickly got up, took the phone, and ran to the side to talk to Ayla in a low voice.
"Mom, I miss you. Can I come to the hospital to see you?"
Hearing Jerold's voice, Ayla felt a pang in her heart and was about to agree when she remembered what Carol had told her.
Indeed, it was best for Jerold to stay with Leo.
She took a deep breath and said slowly, "Jerold, Mom is very busy right now and doesn't have time. When I have some free time, I'll come see you, okay?"
"No, I want to see you today."
"Be good, Mom really doesn't have time today. Can you give the phone back to Dad?"
Jerold's eyes filled with tears, "I know, you don't want me anymore. I hate you!"
With that, he threw Leo's phone on the ground and ran towards the school gate.
Leo's face changed, and he quickly picked up the phone and chased after him.
The kindergarten gate was closed, and Jerold was trying to climb over it.
Leo grabbed him and pulled him down, his tone terrifyingly cold. "Jerold, have you had enough?"
"Let go of me! Let go! I hate you all! I don't want any of you!"
Jerold struggled desperately, his face covered in tears, his eyes red and filled with anger, like a cornered animal showing its teeth but unable to harm anyone.
Leo sighed and put him down but still held onto his clothes, not letting him leave.
"Jerold, your mom and I are divorced. You're not gonna see her as much. You need to accept that instead of throwing fits."
"I don't care! I hate you all! I don't wanna stay with you!"
"Like it or not, the court gave me custody."
As they argued, Sharon and Seb walked towards the gate with Demetrius.
Seeing Demetrius, jealousy and resentment flashed in Jerold's eyes. He suddenly found the strength to break free from Leo and charged at Demetrius.
Why did his mom abandon him, and Leo treat him poorly, while Demetrius got all the love from his parents?
Because they were so close and didn't expect Jerold to attack Demetrius in public, no one could stop him in time. Demetrius was knocked to the ground by Jerold.
Jerold was about to hit Demetrius when Seb quickly pushed him away.
"Demetrius, are you okay?" Seb helped the frightened Demetrius up, his face full of concern.
Demetrius shook his head, "Dad, I'm fine."
He was wearing thick clothes, so he didn't feel much pain when he fell.
On the other side, Jerold, who had been pushed to the ground, watched Seb help Demetrius up and check him for injuries, with Sharon also looking worried.
When he fell, Ayla's first reaction wasn't to check if he was hurt but to scold him for being useless. Leo would just stand by coldly, never caring.
He admitted he was jealous of Demetrius.
He envied the fact that Demetrius had such good parents while he had none.
Suddenly, he was grabbed by the collar and lifted up.
Looking up, he saw Leo's angry face. "Jerold, are you crazy? Do you know what you just did?"
Seeing his furious face, Jerold shrank back in fear, tears streaming down his face.
But Leo didn't care. He dragged him over to Seb and Sharon. "Mr. Smith, Sharon, it's my fault for not managing Jerold well. I'm sorry for the trouble he caused you and Demetrius. Is Demetrius hurt?"
"Leo, your son just knocked Demetrius down and tried to hit him. Do you think a simple apology will make this go away?"
Jerold had already fought with Demetrius before, and now he attacked him out of nowhere. If Seb hadn't been there, who knows what might have happened to Demetrius.
Leo knew he was in the wrong and said apologetically, "I understand, Mr. Smith. If Demetrius feels unwell, take him to the hospital, and I'll cover all the expenses. If there's any issue, I'll take full responsibility.
"As for Jerold, I'll take him home and make sure he learns his lesson. This won't happen again."
Seb sneered, "If I remember correctly, he already provoked Demetrius before and fought with him. Now he attacks him in front of us and other parents. Who knows if he's been bullying other kids in private?"
Hearing this, the other parents, who had been watching, looked at Jerold with displeasure. Some even started asking their kids if Jerold had bullied them.
This kindergarten was one of the best in the city, attended by the wealthy and influential. If this wasn't handled properly, offending others could have serious consequences.
After all, no matter how powerful Leo was, he couldn't go against everyone.
