Chapter 428 Ugly! Stay Away from Me!
Robert nodded, "Alright, you and Sharon don't need to worry about me. Karen and I are already divorced, she can't do anything to me."
Seb said, "Okay, by the way, do you have any relatives abroad?"
Robert was taken aback for a moment, then shook his head after thinking for a while, "I don't think so, why?"
Seb replied, "Just curious. What about Sharon's mom's side?"
Mentioning Carolyn, Robert fell silent. After a long pause, he slowly spoke, "Carolyn was an orphan. I tried to help her find her family before, but we couldn't find them."
Seb asked, "How did you two meet?"
Recalling their first meeting, Robert couldn't help but smile, "We met on a rainy day. I was on my way home from work and got caught in a heavy rain, so I took shelter under an eave. She happened to come by as well. The moment I saw her, I fell in love at first sight. Later, we fell in love. After we got married, she quit her job to take care of the household, and I left the company to start my own business."
Thinking about those times, Robert looked very gentle, and his eyes filled with nostalgia.
Seb frowned. If the Wright family had no relatives abroad and Carolyn was an orphan, then Lucy might be a relative from Sharon's mom's side.
Or... could the woman named Lucy be Sharon's biological mother, Carolyn?
Thinking of this, he quickly asked, "Mr. Wright, do you remember the name of the orphanage where Sharon's mom stayed?"
Robert nodded, "Yes, it was called Hope Orphanage. It used to be on Willowbrook Road, but now it's near Dawn Elementary School."
After saying this, he looked at Seb with a puzzled expression, "But why are you asking this?"
Seb hesitated for a moment but ultimately didn't tell Robert the truth. "I found some information that might be related to Sharon's mom's family, but it's not confirmed yet. I'll let you know once I have more details."
Robert's eyes widened in shock, "Sharon's mom was an orphan, and you found her family?"
Seb replied, "It's not confirmed yet."
Seeing that Seb didn't want to say more, Robert didn't press further and sighed, "If Carolyn hadn't gone abroad, she would be very happy to know that her family was found."
His expression was full of sadness, and his hunched figure seemed to have aged a few more years.
Seb was about to speak when Sharon came out of the kitchen with a bowl of soup, "Seb, can you get me a trivet?"
Seb replied, "Sure."
He got up and walked to the dining table, taking a trivet from the stack, and placing it on the table.
Sharon put down the soup and smiled, "We're having chicken soup tonight. Demetrius will be happy to see this soup."
As soon as she finished speaking, the doorbell rang. Sharon smiled and said, "It must be Aubrey bringing Demetrius. I'll get the door."
She quickly walked to the entrance and saw that it was indeed Aubrey standing outside. She immediately smiled and opened the door.
A small figure instantly rushed into her arms, rubbing his head against her clothes, "Mom, I missed you."
Sharon looked down, her face full of tenderness, "Mom missed you too. Don't you miss Dad too?"
Demetrius let go of Sharon and looked up at Seb, "Dad, I missed you too."
His tone and expression were clearly not as excited as when he spoke to Sharon, even with a hint of perfunctory.
Seb remained silent. Demetrius didn't care if Seb was happy or not and ran straight to Robert, standing in front of him, "Hi, Grandpa."
Looking at his adorable grandson, Robert couldn't stop smiling, "Hi, Demetrius. Are you hungry? Go wash your hands, and we'll have dinner."
Demetrius nodded obediently, "Okay, Grandpa."
Sharon took him to the bathroom to wash his hands, and when they returned to the dining table, Seb had already served the food.
Demetrius climbed onto the chair by himself, picked up a fork but didn't eat, instead looking eagerly at Robert.
Robert looked puzzled, "Demetrius, why aren't you eating? Is there nothing you like?"
Demetrius shook his head, "Grandpa, you eat first."
Robert immediately understood that he was waiting for him to start eating. He picked up some food and smiled, "Alright, let's eat."
"Okay." Demetrius picked up a piece of chicken. He had always loved chicken and liked anything made from it.
After eating several pieces of chicken, Sharon stopped him when he tried to get more. "You can't eat any more, or you might have trouble digesting it tonight. Eat something else."
Demetrius looked disappointed. He thought that since they were at Robert's house, Sharon would indulge him a bit. But it seemed he was wrong.
After dinner, it was already past eight in the evening.
Knowing that Robert went to bed early, Sharon and Seb prepared to leave with Demetrius.
Robert looked at Demetrius reluctantly, "If you have time, bring Demetrius over to play more often."
Seeing Demetrius's lively appearance always reminded Robert of Sharon's childhood, his eyes full of nostalgia.
Sharon said, "Okay."
Robert said, "I have a few words to say to Seb. You take Demetrius downstairs first."
Sharon looked puzzled. What did her dad have to say to Seb?
Seb looked at her and naturally handed her the car keys, "It's cold downstairs. You and Demetrius wait for me in the car."
Sharon nodded and didn't say anything more, taking Demetrius downstairs. After waiting in the car for a while, Seb came down.
As soon as he got in the car, Sharon asked him what Robert had said. Seb started the car and said, "He just told me to treat you well, nothing else."
Sharon said, "Did he need to send me away to say that?"
Seb said, "Of course, he also warned me that if I didn't treat you well, he wouldn't let me off."
Although Sharon didn't quite believe his explanation, there was no point in pressing further if Seb didn't want to say more.
She didn't say anything else, and the car fell into silence. Seb looked ahead, but his mind was on what Robert had just told him.
Robert said that when he was investigating Carolyn's parents, every time he made some progress, something would happen, causing everything to go back to square one. He thought it was because there were no surveillance cameras when Carolyn was abandoned at the orphanage, and most people who had seen her couldn't remember, so he could never find them.
But considering what Seb had mentioned today, he suspected that someone was deliberately obstructing him.
If the truth was as Robert said, and someone was preventing him from finding out Carolyn's background, then Carolyn's identity as an orphan must be problematic. It seemed he needed to start with Daniel.
When they returned to the villa, as soon as they got out of the car and walked into the living room, Sharon saw Paul standing there, holding a document.
Seeing her, Paul greeted her. "Ms. Roach."
Sharon nodded and looked at Seb, "You still have work to handle, I'll take Demetrius upstairs first."
Seb said, "OK."
He turned to Paul, "Let's talk in the study."
The two walked into the study, and after closing the door, Seb handed him two hair samples. "Send these two hair samples for testing. I need the results within a day."
Paul carefully took them, "Yes, Mr. Smith."
Seb asked, "How's the investigation on Jesse going?"
Paul's expression changed slightly, and he lowered his voice, "Jesse already knows someone is investigating him, and Falcon and the others almost got caught. They've already pulled back."
Seb's eyes turned cold instantly, "I understand. Have them lay low for now and stop any actions."
Paul replied, "Understood. However, before they pulled back, they found out that Lucy seems to be connected to the Stoll family."
Seb said, "That's what I suspected. But the Stoll family is deeply rooted in Stellaria. If we investigate, we might be discovered at any time. Keep an eye on Daniel, and report to me immediately if he makes any moves. Also, check into Sharon's mother, Carolyn. She grew up in Hope Orphanage. See if there are any clues from that angle."
Paul replied, "Understood."
After Paul left, Seb sat in the study for a while before getting up and returning to the bedroom.
In the middle of the night, Sharon's phone suddenly rang. She groggily opened her eyes, picked up the phone, and answered, "Hello? What's wrong?"
"Sharon, Randy went too far... I won't forgive him." Sophie's voice was choked with sobs, and the background was noisy, like she was in a bar or something.
Sharon glanced at the time, it was three in the morning. She couldn't help but frown, feeling a bit worried, "Sophie, where are you now?"
Sophie replied, "I'm... drinking... at a bar. Do you want to come?"
Sharon asked, "Which bar are you at? Are there any other friends with you?"
Sophie replied, "No... men are all jerks... not a single good one."
Sharon asked twice more before Sophie stammered out the name of the bar. Sharon hung up and got up to change clothes to go find her.
Seb also sat up and said in a deep voice, "Sharon, it's too late now. I'll call Randy and have him go pick up Sophie."
Thinking about their argument, Sharon felt uneasy, "Randy had a fight with her. What if he doesn't want to go?"
"He will." Seb picked up his phone and dialed Randy's number.
The call was quickly answered, "Uncle Seb, what's up?"
Seb asked, "Where are you now?"
Randy mentioned the name of a club, about 6.2 miles from Sophie's bar.
Seb said, "Sophie is at Melody Bar. Go pick her up and take her home."
There was a moment of silence on the other end before Randy's voice came through, "I'll have someone else take her home."
Seb sneered, "Then you might as well have someone else date her too."
Randy said, "Uncle Seb, you don't know what happened between us."
Seb said, "I don't need to know why you argued. Your girlfriend is drunk at a bar, and you don't even want to pick her up. If you can't take responsibility, I suggest you break up with her and stop wasting her time."
With that, Seb hung up the phone.
Sharon looked at him, "What if Randy refuses to go?"
Seb replied, "I'll have Aubrey go. If Randy isn't there when Aubrey arrives, you can advise Sophie to break up with him tomorrow."
Seb called Aubrey and asked him to go to the bar. After giving the instructions, he looked at Sharon, "Go back to sleep. I've already contacted the bar manager. Sophie will be fine."
Hearing this, Sharon finally felt relieved. "Okay."
On the other side, Randy put down his phone with a cold expression and immediately got up to leave. He arrived at the bar twenty minutes later.
Sophie was sitting at the bar, downing drinks one after another. Several men nearby were eyeing her, but none dared to approach.
Randy walked up to her, took the glass from her hand, and said in a low voice, "I'll take you home."
Sophie was already drunk. When she looked up and saw Randy, she pointed at him and laughed, "How can you be in two places at once? So funny!"
When Randy saw that she didn't recognize him, his face darkened. He grabbed her wrist and started to lead her out of the bar.
Sophie, already drunk, was slow in her movements and thoughts. She stumbled and almost fell as he pulled her forward.
The next second, her other hand was grabbed. Noticing that Sophie had stopped moving, Randy turned around. He saw Daniel holding Sophie's other hand. His face instantly turned icy, and the cold air around him was almost palpable. "Let go of her!"
Daniel seemed completely unaffected by Randy's angry glare and looked at him expressionlessly, "You have no right to order me."
Randy said in anger, "Sophie is my girlfriend. Mr. Thomas, aren't you afraid of being misunderstood by grabbing my girlfriend's hand in public?"
Daniel smiled slightly, "Why should I be afraid? I have ulterior motives towards her. I came back this time to get back together with her."
Randy's grip on Sophie's hand tightened unconsciously, and his face turned terrifying.
Some onlookers recognized the two and immediately took out their phones to secretly record the scene.
Randy said, "Mr. Thomas, you've really shown me the limits of shamelessness. But no matter how much you try, Sophie won't give you another chance."
Daniel didn't take his provocation to heart at all. In his eyes, Randy was still too young. A man in his twenties might have genuine feelings, but he was also foolish, not understanding that being together was a process of negotiation.
Only by firmly grasping the other person's psychology and knowing what they needed most at any given time could one slowly integrate into their life.
Moreover, now he could only date Sophie. He couldn't help with anything regarding the Lee Group or the situation with Dwayne.
Daniel said, "Whether she gives me a chance or not is not for you to decide."
Their gazes met in the air, sparks flying instantly. The people around them, afraid of getting caught in the crossfire, quickly stepped back, creating a vacuum area between the two, with neither willing to back down.
Just as the atmosphere became tense, Sophie suddenly shook off both of them and stumbled towards the door.
Randy quickly supported her, "Sophie."
Sophie looked up at him with blurry eyes, seeing two Randys in front of her. She muttered, "One is already annoying enough. If there are two, it would be unbearable."
Randy remained silent.
Daniel also stepped forward, trying to pull Sophie out of Randy's arms. However, before his hand could touch her, she slapped it away. "Ugly! Stay away from me!"
Daniel's hand froze in mid-air, and his gaze towards Sophie became deep, "What did you just say?"
