Chapter 443 I Don't Believe Daniel

After Randy posted that on Facebook, the PR team at Smith Group wasted no time and hired a bunch of Internet trolls to stir the pot. They even dug up the dirt about Daniel cheating on Sophie back when they were together.

[I thought Daniel was a good guy! Turns out he's a total jerk. He didn't appreciate Sophie when they were together, and now that she's moved on, he's trying to mess things up. Can he just not stand to see her happy?]

[A good ex should be like he's dead. Daniel's like a ghost that won't go away. If I were Sophie, I'd be so grossed out!]

[By the way, weren't most of the comments this morning bashing Randy? Did Daniel hire trolls or something?]

The comment section blew up, and it didn't take long for Daniel to catch wind of it. Instead of being shocked, he just sneered. He hadn't really expected this to shake up the Smith Group much. This was just the start.

Meanwhile, Sophie saw the video of the fight at the company but didn't react. She watched for a bit, then turned it off and got back to work.

As the workday was wrapping up, Randy texted her saying he was downstairs at her office. Thinking about last night, Sophie still felt uneasy and didn't want to see Randy.

So she texted back: [Let's both cool down for a few days. You should go back.]

No reply from Randy, but Sophie didn't care. She packed up her stuff, shut down her computer, and headed home. When she got to the underground parking lot, she saw someone standing by her car.

Randy was there in a gray suit, his short hair neatly combed. The top button of his shirt was undone, giving off a cool yet rebellious vibe. His eyes were locked on her, like he was afraid she'd vanish.

Sophie sighed and walked up to him. "I said, let's both cool down."

Randy looked down at her, his eyes full of hurt. "Sophie, I'm sorry. Last night was my fault. I shouldn't have hung out with Electra and Delbert knowing you don't like them. I promise from now on..."

"Randy," Sophie cut him off, looking a bit exasperated. "I've never been mad about you hanging out with them."

Randy asked, "Then what is it?"

Sophie replied, "It's that you and your friends have no boundaries when joking around. You said you were playing truth or dare. If, in your eyes, playing games means having no scruples, then I hope you won't get mad when I play such suggestive games with my male friends in the future, since it's just a game."

As soon as she finished, Randy's expression changed. He frowned, and the air around him got tense. "I won't allow it."

Sophie shot back, "I won't do it, but you can? Isn't this a bit of a double standard?"

Randy said, "Sophie, I was about to refuse when you walked in. I have a girlfriend, and I will keep my distance from Electra."

Sophie was quiet for a moment, then slowly said, "Let's cool down for a few days."

She walked to her car and tried to open the door, but Randy grabbed her hand. "Sophie, don't you trust me?"

Sophie looked up at him. "If last night my friends had egged me on to kiss another guy, would you trust me in that situation?"

Randy replied, "I would! The most important thing in a relationship is trust. Until something actually happens, I will trust you!"

Sophie found this kind of funny and shook off his hand. "When I went to the Thomas Villa to find Daniel, nothing happened, but you rushed over to question me. That wasn't long ago, and you've already forgotten?"

Randy's face stiffened, looking a bit embarrassed. "That's different."

Sophie asked, "How is it different?"

Randy replied, "Daniel is your ex-boyfriend, and you used to like him a lot."

Sophie felt a bit disappointed. "So in your eyes, I'm someone who would still be tangled up with my ex while being with my current boyfriend?"

Randy said, "Sophie, why do you have to twist my words? I trust you, but I don't trust Daniel."

Sophie sighed, "At least I haven't done anything with Daniel that could be misunderstood. I don't want to discuss this anymore. Give me a few days to cool down."

Seeing her tired expression, Randy didn't push further. "Fine, if you need time to cool down, I'll also handle my relationship with Electra."

Sophie nodded, said nothing more, and got in her car to leave.

It wasn't until Sophie's car disappeared from sight that Randy looked away and dialed Delbert's number. "Where are you? Can we meet? Bring Electra, but no one else."

An hour later, at a high-end restaurant in Metropolis.

Randy sat across from Delbert and Electra, his face cold as he looked at them.

Delbert looked indifferent and raised an eyebrow. "Is Sophie still giving you a hard time?"

Delbert's impression of Sophie was that she was troublesome and demanding.

Before Randy had a girlfriend, they would sometimes joke around, and they had done more outrageous things. Now that he had a girlfriend, did they all have to walk on eggshells?

Randy said, "I called you here today to let you know that if Electra is present, don't invite me. I won't attend."

Randy thought his girlfriend was more important than his friends.

Last night was Delbert's birthday. He should have just given a gift and left, which would have avoided the subsequent events and the argument with Sophie.

Electra's face suddenly turned pale, as she looked at Randy in disbelief, her eyes full of grievance. "Randy, we've been friends for so many years, and now because of a joke, you want to cut ties with me?"

Delbert's face darkened, his voice cold. "Randy, are you planning to completely fall out with us? Are you sure it's worth it for a woman?"

Randy retorted, "If you and Electra really consider me a friend, you should respect my girlfriend, not deliberately embarrass her by making inappropriate jokes in front of her. Your birthday party has always been held at a club under the Loomis Group. Last night, being at the same club as Sophie wasn't a coincidence, was it?"

Electra's expression changed slightly, her hand under the table clenching unconsciously. Last night, Delbert's birthday party location was her suggestion, and she did have ulterior motives.

Delbert sneered. "Randy, what do you mean? Do you think I was deliberately provoking Sophie?"

Sophie wasn't important enough for him to use his birthday to deal with her!

Randy said, "I didn't say that. How you interpret it is up to you. I have other things to do, so I'll leave first."

With that, he ignored their unpleasant expressions and got up to leave.

Electra wanted to call him back, but Delbert stopped her. "Let him go! I don't believe I can't live without him as a friend!"

Delbert's face was tense, and in his anger, his hands clenched tightly, veins bulging.
