Chapter 73 Does she know that you like Ms. Wright?

Sharon's pupils shrank. She hurriedly asked, "Where are you right now?"

"Near Maple Street, we went to before. Are you coming?"

"Yeah."

After hanging up, she quickly dressed up and got ready to leave.

As she started the car, she hesitated again.

Even if she went over now, it'd only escalate the conflict. Plus, she couldn't be sure if Seb attacked Alex because of her. If it was for some other reason, she would be overthinking it.

She didn't believe that after their unpleasant parting at the Smith mansion, Seb would do anything for her.

Thinking of this, she calmed down and decided not to go.

Just as she returned to her bedroom, Sophie called, "Sharon, I guessed wrong earlier. Seb was standing up for Rebecca, who seemed to have argued with Ava while shopping earlier."

Sharon's grip on her phone tightened, slight bitterness flashing in her eyes. Fortunately, she didn't go over there, or she would've embarrassed herself.

"Oh, I see."

"But Rebecca and Seb aren't dating, right? "

She lowered her eyes and said indifferently, "Maybe, I don't know."

"Anyway, no matter what, seeing that douchebag get beaten up makes me happy. When are you coming over? I still haven't properly grilled you about moving back last time. Don't think you can just brush it off."

"I'm not coming over. I'm a bit tired today, that's all," after saying that, she hurriedly hung up.

Putting down her phone, she suppressed the bitterness, forcing herself not to think about Seb.

He and Rebecca were both single and matched. A woman like Rebecca was more suitable for him.

Meanwhile, in the bar's private room.

Rebecca wanted to put an ice pack on Seb's hand, but he avoided it.

"No need, I can do it myself." His voice was extremely cold, different to the impulsiveness he showed while hitting Alex, like two different people.

After spending the past few days together, Rebecca had a rough idea of his personality and had to hand the ice pack to him.

She said, "Seb, you were too impulsive just now. I'm really fine... Besides, it was Mr. Alex's secretary who offended me. It's too unfair to hit him."

Moreover, in her view, Seb didn't seem like such an impulsive person.

When he hit Alex earlier, it felt more like letting off steam rather than standing up for her.

Seb's expression was indifferent. "He deserved it for not managing his people properly."

She felt there was more to his words, about to ask when the door suddenly opened.

George Turner said, "Seb, Ms. Walker, I'm late. Sorry."

Rebecca suppressed her doubts and looked at George, smiling. "Please have a seat, Mr. Turner."

Around eleven at night, Sharon was sleeping soundly when she was suddenly awakened by a door knock.

She frowned, sitting up. She turned on the bedside lamp, staring in the door's direction with no intentions of opening it.

"Sharon, open the door. I have something to say to you." Alex's voice came from the door, but Sharon still didn't move, her expression unchanged. "It's very late now. Whatever you have to say, say it tomorrow."

He didn't respond, but the knocking became more urgent, as if he wouldn't leave unless she opened the door.

She took a deep breath and raised her voice. "Alex, if you keep knocking, I'll move back to my apartment tomorrow morning."

Suddenly, the knocking stopped.

She didn't care, turning off the lamp and sleeping again.

The next morning, as she came downstairs, she saw Alex sitting at the dining table, eating breakfast with a gloomy face. His face was bruised and swollen.

Slight surprise flashed in Sharon's eyes; she hadn't expected Seb to beat him so badly.

As she walked to the dining table, the nanny immediately served breakfast.

Seeing that she didn't plan on asking about his injuries, Alex's expression turned cold. "Sharon, don't you see the injuries on my face? Don't you have anything to ask?"

Sharon looked up at him indifferently. "Is there any need to? You probably got hurt while being with Ava, so I don't want to know."

His face turned extremely stern, nearly deforming the silverware in his hand.

He wanted to tell her that Seb was the one who hit him, but he didn't know how to start. If he said it directly, he'd seem petty.

However, staying silent stifled him.

While Alex was feeling irritated, Sharon finished her breakfast and got up to leave.

Watching her back, he angrily threw his silverware on the table, startling the nanny next to him. "everything alright with the breakfast?"

He didn't respond, getting up with a sullen face and leaving.

When he walked out of the villa and got into his car, his phone rang.

Seeing it was Clara, he frowned and answered, "Mom, what do you want?"

"Alex, did you know that Sharon's infertile?"

Alex's face instantly turned cold. "Did Ava tell you that?"

"Never mind who said it. If she really can't have children, you need to divorce her immediately!"

Her commanding tone made his eyes turn cold.

"Mom, this is between us; it's not up to you to decide. Also, I don't want anyone else in the Smith family to know about this. If it gets out, it won't benefit me. I hope you understand that."

Clara was furious. "Ugh, your aunt is already on Sharon's case about not having kids. Can you imagine if she knew Sharon was infertile? She'd be a nightmare! I can totally see her ripping me apart behind my back."

"Just pretend you don't know. How we handle it is our business."

Hearing the warning in Alex's tone, Clara felt a surge of anger.

She was looking out for him, and now he was warning her!

"Fine, I won't be involved if you don't want me to. However, don't come crying to me if you regret it later!" With that, she angrily hung up.

Alex's eyes were icy as he drove straight to Ava's place.

Sharon had just parked her car downstairs at the office and was walking to the elevator when she ran into Rebecca.

Rebecca was holding a document in her left hand and a lunchbox in her right, a gentle smile on her face.

Seeing Sharon, she greeted her proactively, "Good morning, Ms. Wright."

Sharon nodded, "Good morning, Ms. Walker."

"Have you had breakfast? I brought some; Seb and I probably won't finish it. Would you like to join us?"

"No, thanks. I've already eaten."

Rebecca looked a bit disappointed. "That's a pity."

Sharon smiled and followed up. "It is a pity."

The two chatted casually until the elevator reached the seventh floor. As Sharon left, Rebecca suddenly spoke, "Ms. Wright, last night when Seb and I were at the bar for business, we saw Mr. Alex and his secretary there too. They seemed a bit too close."

Sharon unconsciously turned back, but only saw the closing elevator doors.

While walking to the lab, she pondered Rebecca's words. Was it a friendly reminder, or did Rebecca already know about Alex's affair? But either way, she didn't care.

She just wanted to do work well and find out what really happened in the Robert Pharmaceuticals accident six years ago. Nothing else mattered to her.

Back in the lab, she quickly got to work.

For most people, doing experiments was tedious, but she enjoyed the methodical process of working alone. It felt simpler than dealing with people.

After all, experiments only had two outcomes; success or failure. But dealing with people had many intricacies, and a slight misstep could offend someone without even realizing it.

When Rebecca walked into Seb's office, he was reading a document. He said without looking up, "Ms. Walker, just leave the document on the desk. I'll look at it later."

Rebecca raised an eyebrow and casually said, "Mr. Smith, I just ran into Ms. Wright downstairs. She doesn't seem to know about Mr. Smith's affair."

Seb frowned and looked up at her. "Ms. Walker, this doesn't seem to concern you."

Seeing the coldness in his eyes, her heart sank. Her previous suspicions were confirmed!

She continued, "Mr. Smith, does Ms. Wright know that you like her?"
