Chapter 72 Eagerly Seeking Trouble

Sharon chuckled lightly, her gaze somewhat indifferent. "You don't even believe what you're saying. If you could really avoid seeing her, you wouldn't have let her keep that child, nor let her stay in Metropolis. With your abilities, it would've been a piece of cake."

Alex said, "The child in her womb was kept out of necessity."

She lowered her eyes and said slowly, "You don't need to explain to me; I don't want to argue about this anymore. If you want to see her, I can get out of the car and take a cab back."

When she finished speaking, the black Cayenne sped off.

In less than half an hour, the car stopped in front of the villa.

As she was getting out, Alex said coldly, "Sharon, remember; you pushed me toward her."

She replied, "If you really want to be with her, I won't blame you. I came back prepared to accept her and that child."

He didn't look at her, only saying coldly, "Get out!"

She got out. When she closed the door, he drove away.

Watching the car disappear, sarcasm flashed in Sharon's eyes.

He clearly couldn't let go of Ava, yet he wanted her to be the villain.

'Alex, when did you become so disgusting that I can hardly recognize you?' she thought.

She took a deep breath and turned to walk into the villa.

The nanny quickly came up to her and took the flowers from her hand. "Mrs. Smith, should I put these flowers in your bedroom?"

"No, just leave them in the living room." Sharon didn't want to see these flowers when entering her bedroom; they reminded her of Alex and made her uncomfortable.

"Okay. By the way, where is Mr. Smith? He instructed the kitchen to make your favorite soup for tonight's dinner."

"Ava isn't feeling well, so he went to be with her. I'll go change clothes, and then we can start dinner."

The nanny instinctively looked up at her. Seeing no signs of anger on her face and seemingly happy, the nanny was momentarily stunned.

Sharon seemed to have given up on Alex.

She thought Sharon returned to win him back from Ava, but now it seemed that wasn't the case.

While the nanny was lost in thought, Sharon had already walked past her and headed upstairs.

Back in her bedroom, she changed into some casual clothes.

As she came downstairs, she saw Clara sitting on the living room sofa with an angry face.

Seeing Sharon, Clara sneered and threw a document at her feet. "I was wondering why you haven't gotten pregnant in three years of marriage. It turns out you're infertile!"

Sharon frowned, getting a bad feeling as she picked up the document to read it.

Seeing her face darken, Clara said coldly, "Since you're infertile, make way for someone else. I won't let my son waste his life on a woman who can't give birth!"

Sharon ignored her. Her eyes were filled with shock and disbelief, her hand holding the medical report trembling slightly.

Since marrying Alex, they hadn't taken any measures. She thought it was because she had been consciously avoiding it that she hadn't gotten pregnant.

It turned out it was because she couldn't conceive.

Sharon took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.

Maybe Clara got a fake report to make her divorce Alex.

"Where did you get this report?" Sharon asked.

Clara sneered, "Of course, I got it from the hospital where you had your check-up. You don't think I'd bring a fake report to deceive you, do you?"

Her eyes were full of mockery, looking at Sharon with disdain. "If you don't believe me, call the hospital and have them send you another copy."

Sharon pursed her lips, sitting down opposite Clara and placing the medical report on the table. "If you want me to divorce Alex, you should talk to him; not me."

Clara gritted her teeth. "Do you think I won't? Once he knows you're infertile, he'll divorce you immediately!"

"I'd like that."

Clara's face darkened, not expecting Sharon to be so arrogant even after knowing her infertility. "Sharon, don't forget; everything you have now is from the Smiths. Without them, you're nothing!"

Sharon remained indifferent, unaffected by Clara's words.

If she hadn't become a housewife after marrying Alex, she could still live this lifestyle on her own. "Mrs. Clark, don't you know? I didn't want to return; it was your son who forced me to. Why don't you tell him to kick me out?"

Clara's face turned red with anger, pointing at Sharon. "You!"

She was so weak in arguments that Sharon couldn't be bothered to waste words with her. She stood up and said, "I'm hungry. Let's eat."

Seeing her dismissiveness, Clara was furious and immediately called Alex to complain.

However, she didn't expect that after knowing she was at the villa, Alex coldly told her to leave. When she called again, he didn't answer; leaving her no chance to tell him Sharon was infertile and almost gave Clara a heart attack.

After Clara left, Sharon immediately called the hospital where she had her check-up and asked them for another medical report copy.

The report from the hospital was identical to the one Clara had given her.

Sharon stared at her phone, still unable to believe the result. She immediately contacted another medical center to schedule a new check-up.

After making the appointment, she temporarily put the matter aside and went to eat.

After dinner, she watched TV on the sofa for a while before going to her room around nine.

When she returned to her bedroom, her phone rang.

Seeing it was from Brian, whom she had hired, Sharon walked to the balcony to answer.

"Ms. Wright, regarding the Robert Pharmaceuticals incident from six years ago that you asked me to investigate, I haven't found anything useful yet. However, I did find an employee who worked there at the time. They seem to know something, but are unwilling to talk. I'll keep trying."

Hearing this, Sharon's eyes narrowed as she replied in a low voice, "If you need funds, let me know; I'll find a way."

"Okay. Do you still need me to watch your husband and Ava?"

"Not for now. Focus on the Robert Pharmaceuticals incident."

Her expression was serious.

The employees who knew about the incident seemed to have disappeared. If there was a hidden truth, it'd be hard to uncover.

Suddenly, she thought of someone.

She quickly said, "Look for a man named John Miller. He used to be the deputy manager of the procurement department there; he might have some information."

John used to work under Ted. After Robert Pharmaceuticals went bankrupt, Sharon hadn't heard from him, but she heard he went back to his hometown.

He might know something about what happened back then.

"Okay, Ms. Wright, I'll look into it right away."

After hanging up, she took a deep breath.

She knew that to get the truth, it'd be best to start with David. But given Alex's strained relationship with David, getting close to him wouldn't be easy.

While she was thinking, her phone suddenly buzzed.

Sharon opened her phone to see a message from Sophie, which surprised her.

When she opened it, she saw a photo of Alex and Ava in a bar booth.

Although the lighting was dim, their intimacy was evident.

She didn't expect Ava, being pregnant, still dared to go to a bar.

However, with Alex protecting her, there wasn't much to fear.

The next moment, Sophie sent a voice message: "What's up with Alex? He openly took that bitch to a bar, claiming she's his secretary. I'm so pissed. Are you really so hopelessly in love that you can't see this douchebag needs to be dumped?"

Sharon lowered her eyes, about to reply when Sophie suddenly video called.

When she answered and saw through Sophie's camera, she was stunned.

In the dimly lit bar, Seb, with a cold expression, punched Alex to the ground.

Sophie said, "Oh my god, Seb is so cool! He did what I've always wanted to do but couldn't. He should just beat that douchebag to death!"
