Chapter 294 An Illegitimate Child
As soon as the words left his mouth, Seb's face went dark. Nathan pressed on, "Seriously, you don't remember anything? Sharon used to be your niece-in-law. Even if you forgot her name, you should remember her face, right?"
Sharon was definitely unforgettable.
Even though he’d only met her once, her face was still clear in his mind.
Seb kept a straight face, trying to remember Alex's ex-wife, but he came up blank.
He vaguely recalled Alex bringing his ex-wife to a family dinner, but Sharon? Nothing.
Their whole marriage and divorce were just a blur.
He and Alex weren't close, and after Seb's car accident, Alex got shipped off abroad by Tyler, so Seb didn't really care.
He only found out about Alex's divorce later. For someone not really in his circle, Seb didn't give it much thought; he just moved on.
Now, finding out Sharon was Alex's ex-wife? That was a shocker.
How did he get mixed up with Sharon?
Everything seemed to trace back to that car accident five years ago. Maybe he wasn’t in a coma the whole time like Tyler said.
Thinking about it, Seb's face got even darker. "Look into my memory loss. Find out what happened with Sharon and why she secretly had my kid."
Nathan hesitated, "What about the lawsuit against Ms. Roach?"
"Hold off until we know everything," Seb ordered.
After Nathan left, Seb was about to call Paul to ask about Sharon, but he stopped himself.
With the evidence Nathan found, Paul had betrayed him.
Not just Paul, Seb now suspected everyone in the Smith Family was lying to him.
While he was deep in thought, his phone rang.
Seeing Sharon's name, Seb answered, "Ms. Roach, what do you want?"
"Mr. Smith, I need to meet with you."
Seb's voice was cold, "If it's about Demetrius's custody, fine. Anything else, forget it."
"I just sent you a photo. Look at it first, then decide." With that, Sharon hung up.
His phone buzzed, and Seb checked it. His face went dark instantly.
Then Sharon sent an address.
Seb's eyes narrowed as he grabbed his coat and headed out.
Half an hour later, Seb sat across from Sharon, his face full of anger. "When did you take that photo?" He glared at her like he wanted to eat her alive.
Sharon stayed calm, looking up at him, "Mr. Smith, when the photo was taken doesn't matter. What matters is if you don't let Zachary go, this photo will be all over the internet by tomorrow. Everyone will see a nearly naked you."
Seb's eyes blazed. "Go ahead, try it!"
The fact she had such a private photo meant they definitely had a history.
But he couldn’t remember any of it. This also meant something was off about his car accident.
Sharon's eyes were serious as she spoke slowly, "Mr. Smith, Zachary means a lot to me. If you keep hurting him, I’m ready to go down with you."
Looking into her clear, compelling eyes, Seb blurted out, "Then what about me? What do I mean to you?"
The moment the words left his mouth, he regretted it, his face darkening.
Why did he say that? It felt like he was competing with Zachary for her affection.
Sharon was taken aback and didn't respond right away.
Before she could say anything, Seb's face turned cold. "Don't get the wrong idea. I just figured since you decided to have my kid on your own, you must like me a lot."
Sharon pursed her lips, looking at him indifferently. "Mr. Smith, you're overthinking it. Having Demetrius was an accident and has nothing to do with you. I don't like you."
Seb sneered, "Good. Any man you like would be unlucky."
Sharon didn't expect Seb to be so venomous after losing his memory. Her face darkened. "Mr. Smith, I'm here to talk about Zachary, not to discuss who I like."
Seb said, "He tried to compete with Silvercrest Group for a project and failed, causing the Cook Group to lose a lot of money and get fired. It has nothing to do with me. If anything, I'm the victim."
Sharon frowned, her eyes filled with doubt. "Are you sure you didn't interfere?"
Seb smirked and replied, "If I had interfered, he wouldn't just be kicked out of the Cook Group."
Seb's expression turned impatient as he stood up and looked down at Sharon. "Instead of threatening me with photos, you should warn Zachary not to make small moves behind the scenes if he lacks the ability."
With that, Seb turned and left.
Sharon lowered her eyes and remained silent for a while, thinking about how else she could help Zachary when her phone suddenly rang.
Seeing that it was Demetrius's teacher, Callie Tovar, Sharon quickly answered.
Callie's voice came through the phone. "Ms. Roach, Demetrius got into a fight in the classroom. You need to come over."
Sharon arrived at the school half an hour later.
She hurried into the office and saw Demetrius standing alone in a corner, his clothes dirty with several shoe prints, his face bruised, and his forehead scraped.
Opposite him was a chubby boy, Bennie Lester. Bennie was also injured, and next to him, a middle-aged woman, Aurora Beckett, Bennie's mother, was glaring at Demetrius and cursing him non-stop.
Seeing Demetrius hanging his head, Sharon's heart tightened.
She quickly walked over to Demetrius, pulling him behind her, and coldly looked at Aurora. "I'm Demetrius's mom. If you have something to say, say it to me. Why are you insulting Demetrius?"
Hearing this, Aurora became furious, sneering as she pushed her son Bennie in front of Sharon, yelling, "Look at what your son did to Bennie!"
She scanned Sharon up and down, a flash of jealousy in her eyes, followed by a disdainful sneer. "I've heard about your shady behavior. No wonder you have an illegitimate child and can't raise him right!"
Sharon's face darkened upon hearing that, and just as she was about to speak, Demetrius suddenly rushed forward and bit Aurora's leg hard.
The scream echoed through the office.
"You little brat, let go of me! Or I'll kill you!" Aurora angrily grabbed Demetrius by the collar, trying to lift him and slam him to the ground.
Sharon was about to stop Aurora when the office door opened again.
"Who said my son is an illegitimate child?"
