Chapter 232 Becoming Someone Like Alex

Seb gave a nod, a smirk playing on his lips. "Alright, what do you want for lunch? I'll bring it over."

Sharon didn't expect Seb to be so chill. She was caught off guard for a sec, then awkwardly said, "Nah, no need. I got groceries. I'll whip something up myself."

"Cool, if you're free tonight, we can..."

"Nope."

With that, Sharon slammed the door right in Seb's face.

Staring at the closed door, Seb felt a twinge of helplessness. He chuckled and turned to leave.

Seeing him go, Sharon took a deep breath and went back to the living room to hit the books.

In the afternoon, Sophie dropped by to see Sharon.

"Sharon, why'd you suddenly come back here? What if Leo shows up again?"

"He won't come during the day. Plus, I need to start looking for a place. Can't crash at your place forever."

Sophie looked at Sharon, a bit annoyed. She thought Sharon could stay with her forever if she wanted.

But knowing Sharon's pride, Sophie said, "You can pay me some rent. Just think of it as renting the place from me."

After a moment, Sharon shook her head. "No need, I need to prep for exams. Better if I live alone."

Seeing her determined look, Sophie knew she couldn't change her mind and didn't push it.

"Then I'll help you find a place. This time, we gotta find one with good security, or I won't be cool with it."

Sharon nodded. "Okay."

The two went out apartment hunting and finally found a complex close to Sophie's villa. The security was tight; you needed a card to get into the complex, the building, and even the elevator.

The apartment was bright and airy, and Sharon was stoked, so she took it right away.

Sophie helped her move. Sharon didn't have much stuff, just about a dozen outfits. No need for a moving company; the back seat and trunk of the car were enough.

After a few trips, they went back to make sure nothing was left behind. Just as they were about to leave, they turned around and saw Leo standing at the door.

Sophie instinctively stepped in front of Sharon, glaring at him. "Leo, if you try anything, I won't let you off easy!"

Leo looked at Sophie and smiled. "Ms. Lee, you got it wrong. I don't mean any harm to Sharon."

Sophie didn't buy it. She kept her eyes on him, her hand already in her bag, gripping a pepper spray. If Leo made a move, she'd spray him right in the face.

Leo's gaze shifted to Sharon, his expression softening. "Sharon, where are you moving to?"

Sharon looked at Leo with a blank face, not saying a word. There was nothing left to say between them.

Not getting a response, Leo didn't get mad. He kept smiling and said, "No matter where you go, if you can, visit Robert in the hospital. He misses you."

Sharon's face darkened, and she said coldly, "Leo, don't think you can use my dad to mess with me. I've already cut ties with him."

"Even if you want to cut ties, he'll always be your father."

Leo smiled, his eyes full of amusement, like Sharon moving away was just a game of hide and seek to him.

No matter where she went, he always had a way of finding her.

Sharon's hand clenched at her side, a wave of disgust rising in her chest.

"Leo, do you have to be so gross?"

Her raw disgust and anger made Leo's smile freeze.

After a good ten seconds, he looked at Sharon seriously and said, "Sharon, one day you'll see that I'm the one for you."

"I could never like you. You're like some creepy rat, always lurking in the shadows. Who'd ever want someone like that?"

Leo chuckled at her words. "You're right."

"But even a rat in the shadows wants to see the sunlight, wants to feel the warmth."

Leo left, but his words lingered like a shadow over Sharon, impossible to shake off.

Sophie looked at her worriedly. "Sharon, why don't you come stay at my place? I feel like Leo's lost it. Who knows what he might do."

Sophie couldn't understand how the gentle Leo from their youth had turned into such a sinister and terrifying madman.

Sharon shook her head, thinking, 'I can't stay at Sophie's place forever.'

"No need. If he keeps bugging me, I'll move to Aidamore early."

Sophie sighed. "Alright then."

"Don't worry about me. Let's go, I'll treat you to dinner. You've worked hard helping me move today."

On the way to the restaurant, Sophie suddenly asked Sharon why she left so urgently last night and what had happened.

As soon as she finished speaking, the car suddenly swerved to the side.

Sharon was startled and quickly grabbed the steering wheel, narrowly avoiding a collision with another car.

"Sharon, what's wrong with you? You scared me to death!"

"Sorry, Sophie, I got distracted for a moment."

Seeing Sharon's pale face, Sophie said, "Maybe you're too tired from moving today. Why don't you pull over and let me drive?"

"No need, we're almost there. I'll be more careful."

"If you really feel tired, just let me know, and I'll drive."

"Okay."

After this little scare, Sophie didn't bring up last night's incident again, and Sharon breathed a sigh of relief.

She didn't plan to tell Sophie about what happened last night, intending to keep it a secret forever.

After dinner, Sophie had her driver bring her car over, and the two parted ways.

On the way back, Sharon got a call from Seb.

"Moved?"

Sharon bit her lip, her grip on the steering wheel tightening unconsciously.

"Yeah, so Mr. Smith, you don't need to come over and be all attentive anymore."

"Sharon, you know what I want."

Seb's deep voice came through, and Sharon couldn't help but bite her lip.

"What you want, I can't give. Mr. Smith, find someone else."

Being with Seb now would end the same way her marriage with Alex did. She didn't want to walk a path where she could see the end from the beginning.

"There's no one else but you. You're the only one in my heart."

Sharon pulled the car over to the side of the road. After a moment of silence, she slowly said, "Seb, would you want to be with someone who doesn't like you?"

The other end of the line went quiet, and she could only hear Seb's slightly heavy breathing.

"I don't like you anymore, so I don't want to be with you. I also hope you won't force me, or you'll end up just like Alex to me."
