Chapter 180 What Right Does He Have to Demand Anything from Her?

Alex couldn't look Seb in the eye and stared at the floor.

"Uncle Seb, I messed up."

Seb laughed angrily. "Messed up? You committed fraud! You used Silvercrest Group's name to trick other companies into signing contracts with yours. If this gets out, you'll be in court!"

He couldn't believe Alex's audacity.

Alex finally panicked, looking at Seb with fear. "Uncle Seb, I know I was wrong. When my dad handed me the company, it was nearly broke. If I didn't get big companies to work with us, we'd go under. Please, just this once, forgive me. I promise I won't do it again!"

Seb's eyes blazed with anger at Alex's guilty look.

"You knew it was wrong, but you did it anyway?"

The room went silent. After a while, Alex finally looked up.

"Uncle Seb, what do I have to do for you to forgive me? Do you want me to kneel?"

Seb was about to respond when his phone rang. Seeing it was Grace, he stepped aside to answer.

"What is it?"

Grace felt a pang of disappointment at his cold tone.

"Seb, will you come home for dinner tonight? I'll make your favorite dishes, okay?"

Seb rubbed his temples. "I don't know yet. Just rest. Let the maid cook."

"But I don't know how many more meals I can make for you. I want you to have good memories of me."

Seb felt a flash of impatience but, thinking of Grace's illness, held back. "Just don't overdo it."

After hanging up, Seb turned back to Alex. "I'll tell Tyler. You deal with the companies you deceived. I won't help you."

Alex felt a bit relieved. As long as Seb didn't pursue it, he had a chance.

"Uncle Seb, thank you!"

"Don't thank me. The companies you deceived might still come after you."

Alex's smile froze. "I understand."

Seeing Alex still sitting, Seb said, "Aren't you leaving?"

"I'm going now."

Once outside Silvercrest Group, Alex's face turned dark. Despite being Seb's relative, Seb wouldn't help him.

The more he thought about it, the more he hated Seb.

Suddenly, his phone rang. Seeing it was Tyler, Alex's grip tightened. After a moment, he answered.

Tyler's angry voice blasted through the phone, and Alex apologized. After hanging up, he drove back to the Smith Mansion.

As evening approached, Sharon took out the invitation Donna had given her, unsure if she should go.

Ashley noticed and was surprised. "Sharon, how did you get an invite to this seminar?"

The invitation was for the "New Generation Cancer Drug Development and Application" seminar in the city center, featuring top medical experts and researchers discussing the latest in cancer drug research and clinical trials.

Many researchers wanted to attend, but the bar was high, and invites were rare.

"A senior gave it to me. This seminar is her research focus."

"Wow, that's awesome! Sharon, I'm really interested. Can you take me with you?"

Sharon hesitated but then said, "I'll ask if I can bring you along."

"Great!"

Sharon messaged Donna, who quickly replied that it was fine.

Ashley was thrilled. "Sharon, thank you! You're the best!"

"Alright, let's tidy up the lab and get ready to leave."

Sharon got up and headed to the lab, with Ashley following close behind.

After they left, Leo glanced at the invitation Sharon had left on the table, deep in thought.

Meanwhile, Seb was working when he got a call from Victor.

"Seb, there's a 'New Generation Cancer Drug Development and Application' seminar in Metropolis soon. One of the researchers is working on something related to Grace's illness. Do you want to take her?"

Seb paused. "Can't we just arrange a meeting with the researcher?"

"If I could, I would have. The researcher is very busy and has no time. After the seminar, she's flying abroad for another conference. If you want to meet her, you have to attend the seminar."

"Got it. Send me the details."

After hanging up, Seb went back to work.

Not long after, his phone buzzed again. It was a message from Grace.

He didn't need to open it to know it was about her concern and asking him to come home for dinner.

Seb had no desire to check it and didn't want to go back to the villa.

He had reconciled with Grace out of guilt.

But the thought of continuing this charade for another three months exhausted him.

Paul entered the office and placed some contracts on the table. "Mr. Smith, you can sign these tomorrow."

"Alright, you can go."

After Paul left, Seb tried to focus on the documents but couldn't. He put them down.

Seb picked up his phone, opened his chat with Sharon, and wanted to send a message but didn't know what to say.

He had broken his promises too many times. 'Sharon must be so disappointed in me by now,' he thought.

After a long hesitation, Seb put away his phone and got up to leave.

He intended to go back to the villa but ended up downstairs at Sharon's apartment.

Seb had been keeping tabs on Sharon and knew she had moved and was now living in the same building as Leo.

He wanted Sharon to stay away from Leo, but what right did he have to demand that now?

The black Maybach had been parked downstairs for a long time, and Seb kept his eyes on the building entrance.

Finally, he saw her.

Sharon came downstairs to throw out the trash. She noticed Seb's car and was surprised.

She quickly looked away, pretending not to see it, and threw the trash before heading back.

Seb watched her, hesitating. Just as she was about to enter the building, he got out of the car and walked towards her.
