Chapter 553 Secretly Conspiring with My Rivals

Ayla's voice was icy over the phone, "I'm busy. What do you want?"

"The Bridges Group might go under. Seb's got a ton of evidence of the company's crimes. Grandpa's old, and I can't handle everything alone. Can you come back and help me out?"

There was a pause before Ayla's voice came back, dripping with sarcasm, "Damon, when I was with the Bridges Group, we never did anything shady. How come the company started having issues as soon as you took over?"

Damon fought to keep his anger in check and replied coldly, "Everything I did was for the company's growth. When are you coming back?"

"I'm not coming back. Stop dreaming. I've already sold my shares in the Bridges Group to Seb. The company has nothing to do with me anymore. You're on your own."

She wasn't dumb. Damon wanted her back not to hand over the company but to take the fall for his mistakes. If she returned now, she might even end up in jail.

Damon's face darkened. He quickly said, "If you come back, I'll give you half of my shares!"

"No thanks. You keep them. If the Bridges Group goes bankrupt, those shares will be as worthless as scrap paper." With that, Ayla hung up decisively.

Damon threw his phone onto the passenger seat, his face twisted with rage. That bitch Ayla. He should never have let her go abroad. Now getting her back was nearly impossible.

Time flew by, and soon it was Saturday.

In the morning, Sharon and Seb got up, washed up, and had breakfast before taking Demetrius to visit Robert.

Seeing them, Robert's eyes lit up with surprise. "You guys are so busy. If there's nothing urgent, you don't need to come. I have a housekeeper to take care of me."

"We haven't visited in a while, and we have something to tell you," Sharon said seriously.

Robert looked at her, "What is it?"

"Seb and I got married."

Robert frowned, "When are you planning to have the wedding?"

Sharon and Seb exchanged a glance. Sharon said, "We don't plan to have a wedding for now."

Robert's expression turned stern, "Whose idea was that?"

"It was a mutual decision. We plan to have the wedding later. We came today to have a family meal."

Robert's face darkened, "Who gets married without a wedding? You didn't tell me about the marriage, which I can understand, but you must have a wedding. Otherwise, what will people think?"

"Dad, it's not that we don't want to. The current situation isn't suitable for a wedding."

"What situation? Explain it to me."

Seeing he wouldn't let it go, Sharon sighed and said to Seb, "Take Demetrius to play in the room. I'll talk to my dad."

Seb nodded, "Okay."

After Seb and Demetrius left, Sharon sat next to Robert. "Dad, Mom is coming to Metropolis next week."

Robert was stunned, "What did you say?"

"You heard me right. She'll be here next week. I'll meet her, and Seb and I rushed to get married because of this."

"What does that mean? What does her coming back have to do with you marrying Seb?"

Sharon bit her lip and said, "She wants Demetrius and me to move to Stellaria."

"What?"

Robert's face changed, "You haven't seen her in years, and she's probably remarried abroad. Why does she want you and Demetrius to live abroad?"

After a moment's hesitation, Sharon explained what she had learned from Alton.

Robert's expression shifted from confusion to anger, "Is she nuts? She hasn't cared for you in years, never visited, and now she wants to force you to leave Seb and inherit the Stoll family? Has she even thought about your feelings?"

Sharon lowered her eyes and said after a while, "That's why Seb and I got married. We'll deal with everything else later."

Robert sighed, "Alright, I get it. If you don't want a wedding now, we'll do it later."

"Okay."

After lunch, Sharon and Seb prepared to leave with Demetrius.

As they were about to go, Robert called Sharon aside and said softly, "Sharon, no matter what, I just want you to be happy. That's all that matters."

"I know."

"Go on, live your life. Don't worry about me. I have the housekeeper."

"Okay."

Watching Sharon leave, Robert sighed. He had planned to meet Carolyn when she arrived. But on second thought, he decided it wasn't necessary.

Meanwhile, after dropping Sharon and Demetrius home, Seb went straight to the office.

As soon as he stepped out of the elevator, Paul hurried over, "Mr. Smith, Ms. Smith is waiting for you in the meeting room."

"Got it."

Seb's face was cold as he walked to the meeting room. As soon as he opened the door, Bernice stood up, her face full of anger.

"Uncle Seb, canceling the contract with my company now is too much!"

"You've already found a better partner. I don't think you need to continue working with Silvercrest Group."

Bernice's eyes flickered with guilt, "I don't understand what you mean."

"If you don't understand, go home and think about it. Come back when you do. If you can't figure it out, don't come back."

With that, Seb turned to leave.

Bernice quickly blocked his way, "Uncle Seb, you can't do this to me! Don't forget, I helped take care of Sharon's father when no one else could!"

Seb's eyes narrowed, "Since you brought it up, let's settle it. You took care of Sharon's father for less than a month. I gave you a limited-edition car and a major project. Ask around if I treated you unfairly."

Bernice's face changed, but she persisted, "Uncle Seb, isn't it your duty to help me?"

Her entitled attitude made Seb's eyes turn icy.

"You're mistaken. We have no blood relation. I'm not part of the Smith family, nor am I your Uncle Seb. I have no obligation to help you. And I despise people who flatter me to my face while conspiring with my rivals behind my back."
