Chapter 534 What Does This Have to Do with Sharon?

"What about you? What are you gonna do?" Karen looked at Leo, her face filled with sadness and pain.

After all, no matter what, Leo was her only son. If Leo couldn't get out of this, her life would lose its meaning.

Leo's expression was indifferent. "Don't worry about me. Just take care of yourself."

"How can I not worry about you?"

Leo glanced at her, frowning. "Even if you want to help, you probably can't. Don't come here again. I won't see you. Just live on the money you get every month."

"As for Jerold, he's with Ayla. He won't have to worry about food and clothing. I have nothing to worry about."

Hearing this, Karen's face turned pale. "Why do you sound like you're saying your last words... Leo, don't scare me."

Leo gave a bitter smile, looking into Karen's eyes. "Even if it's not the death penalty, I'll get life. How is that any different from being dead?"

"Leo, even if you get life, I'll wait for you outside. Don't do anything foolish. I can't bear it."

Leo's eyes flickered, and he lowered his head, speaking softly. "Mom, just pretend you don't have a son anymore. I've let you and Jerold down."

"Leo..."

Karen wanted to say more, but Clyde, standing nearby, told her visiting time was over.

She quickly looked at Leo. "Leo, no matter how many years you get, I'll wait for you. Don't do anything foolish, okay? If you do, I won't live either!"

But no matter what she said, Leo didn't lift his head.

After Clyde led her out of the police station, Karen was crying uncontrollably.

She looked up at Clyde, choking on her words. "Mr. Bailey, you have to save my son. Don't let him do anything foolish!"

If Leo really did something foolish, she wouldn't be able to go on.

"Ms. Wendy, don't worry. I'll do my best. For now, I'll help you sort out the insurance claim. We'll deal with the rest later."

Karen nodded. "Thank you, Mr. Bailey."

It took several hours to sort out the insurance claim.

"Ms. Wendy, all the paperwork is done. The money will be automatically deposited into your account on the 15th of each month. If you have any issues, feel free to contact me."

"Thank you, Mr. Bailey. The most important thing now is my son's case. Based on your experience, how long do you think he'll get?"

Clyde was silent for a moment before speaking slowly. "Ms. Wendy, I can't give you a definite answer right now. But with charges of stealing core company secrets and kidnapping, he's looking at a minimum of ten years."

And in his estimation, the situation could be even worse.

But telling Karen the harsh truth would only increase her anxiety without any real benefit.

Karen's face turned even paler. She looked at Clyde, trembling. "If we get a letter of forgiveness, will it help reduce the sentence?"

Clyde shook his head. "Not much."

"Alright, I get it... Mr. Bailey, please do everything you can to save him. Otherwise, his life will be ruined."

"Ms. Wendy, I'll do my best, but the evidence is pretty solid. There's not much a lawyer can do."

Given Leo's situation, with or without Clyde, the outcome wouldn't be much different.

"I understand... Just do your best. Even if the result isn't good, I'll accept it."

"Okay."

Silvercrest Group President's Office

Upon learning that Vertex Innovations Group shareholders wanted to sell their shares and run, Seb sneered. "Don't let them cash out. If they do, we won't be able to recover Silvercrest Group's losses."

"Understood, Mr. Smith."

"You can go now."

Paul turned to leave and ran into Daniel at the door. "Mr. Thomas."

Daniel nodded. "I'm here to see Mr. Smith. Is he available?"

"Hold on, I'll check."

Two minutes later, Paul came out of Seb's office. "Mr. Thomas, Mr. Smith is waiting for you."

"Thank you, Mr. Harris."

"You're welcome."

Daniel walked into Seb's office and sat down in front of him. "Mr. Smith, Jesse found out I told you everything. He came to my house and threatened me. Don't forget our agreement. You said you'd help me."

Seb leaned back in his chair, looking at him nonchalantly. "Mr. Thomas, I'll help you, but only if you're honest with me. If you give me half-truths, I can only half-help you."

Daniel was silent.

He knew Seb wouldn't trust him easily.

Seeing his defeated expression, Seb continued. "Of course, you can side with Jesse and be my enemy. That's fine too."

Daniel forced a laugh. "No way! Since I told you about Jesse, I'm not planning to side with him anymore."

Seb chuckled, not believing him.

"It doesn't matter who you side with. Just don't waver. If you keep switching sides, it'll look bad when you're exposed."

As his words fell, the office fell silent.

After several minutes, Daniel spoke. "Mr. Smith, you're right. I only told you half the truth before. But since I'm here today, I've made up my mind."

Seb nodded. "Good. Now, can you tell me the rest?"

"I can, but how can you guarantee you can handle Jesse?"

If Seb was weaker than Jesse, he'd be digging his own grave.

Daniel had seen Jesse's methods abroad and didn't want to recall them.

"You have no other choice but to work with me," Seb said calmly.

Daniel's face turned grim because he couldn't refute Seb's words.

He really had no way back.

Even if he went back to Jesse and apologized, Jesse would use him and then discard him.

And he was tired of being Jesse's lapdog.

"Alright, I'll take a gamble."

He took a deep breath, looking seriously at Seb. "Jesse works for the Stoll family, which you already know. But the real power in the Stoll family, Jeremy, has been in declining health. So his children are fighting for control."

Seb frowned. "And what does this have to do with Sharon?"
