Chapter 211 I'm Not Interested in Women

Sharon had just hit the road when she noticed something was off.

She switched directions a few times and saw the black car was still on her tail. Her brow furrowed.

That unlicensed car was definitely following her.

After a moment's thought, Sharon turned around and drove away from her home.

Ten minutes later, she pulled up in front of the police station.

The car behind her realized something was up and tried to leave, but the cops stopped it immediately.

The driver got out and was detained right away.

Once it was safe, Sharon stepped out of her car.

"Ms. Wright, please come with us to make a statement."

Sharon nodded and glanced at the person being led into the station.

He looked about twenty, with a forgettable face.

Sharon was sure she’d never seen him before.

The guy was angry. "What right do you have to cuff me? Think being a cop makes you special?"

One of the officers replied coldly, "Driving an unlicensed car is illegal, and you're suspected of stalking. Cooperate with our investigation."

After making her statement, Sharon learned the guy's name was Samuel Sullivan, and he worked at an auto repair shop in Metropolis.

When asked why he was following Sharon, Samuel said he thought she was pretty and wanted to be friends.

Since he hadn't actually harmed Sharon, the police just gave him a warning and let him go.

As Sharon left the station, Samuel was still squatting at the entrance, looking gloomy.

Seeing Sharon, Samuel sneered, stood up, and said coldly, "You got away this time. Next time, you might not be so lucky."

Sharon ignored him and got in her car.

Once home and settled, Sharon messaged Brian, asking him to look into Samuel Sullivan.

She thought Brian might be asleep, but he replied quickly.

Brian: [Sounds familiar. I'll chk & let u kno.]

Sharon: [Okay.]

She put down her phone and went to shower.

The next morning, after freshening up, Sharon checked the guest room. Sophie was still asleep, so she quietly closed the door and went to make breakfast.

Halfway through, Sophie woke up.

"Sharon."

Sharon turned and saw Sophie at the kitchen door, hair messy and looking a bit embarrassed.

Clearly, she remembered some of what happened after getting drunk last night.

"Awake? Go freshen up. I put new toiletries on the counter."

"Okay."

After freshening up, Sophie came out just as Sharon finished making breakfast and was pouring milk.

Sitting across from Sharon, Sophie looked at her plate and said excitedly, "Nothing beats breakfast after a hangover. Forget dating; we should live together."

Sharon gave her a sideways glance. "Sorry, I'm not into women. Besides, this is my breakfast. Yours is in the kitchen; I'll bring it over."

Sophie was touched, "You made a special breakfast just for me, I..."

Seeing the porridge in Sharon's hand, Sophie's expression froze.

She hated porridge.

Sharon placed the porridge in front of her and said, "Yes, I made it especially for you. Finish it, not a drop left."

"I want your breakfast."

"No, you threw up a lot last night. Your stomach's empty, and greasy food won't help."

"Alright."

After Sharon sat down, Sophie took a sip of the porridge and cautiously asked, "Sharon, did I make a scene last night after getting drunk?"

She vaguely remembered crying and hugging Sharon, and it was loud.

Sophie thought, 'How embarrassing.'

Sharon raised an eyebrow, "Now you realize it's embarrassing?"

Sophie was speechless.

If she had known she'd act crazy, she wouldn't have touched a drop of alcohol last night, let alone gone to the bar.

"Did something happen yesterday? Why did you drink so much?"

Sophie's eyes darkened, and she lowered her head. "I don't really want to talk about it."

Sharon didn't push. "If you don't want to talk, that's fine. Just finish the porridge, take a shower, and I'll drive you to work."

Sophie thought for a moment and declined. "No need. My workplace is in the opposite direction of Silvercrest Group. If you drive me, you'll be late. I'll just take a cab."

Sharon said calmly, "It's fine. I've already quit."

Even if she hadn't quit, after what happened yesterday, the people at Silvercrest Group would have told her to stay home and wait for the outcome.

"You quit? Why did you suddenly quit?"

"I need to prepare for grad school. Work takes up too much time and energy, and I can only study at night. I need to focus on this exam."

Sophie looked shocked. "Why do you suddenly want to go to grad school?"

"Not going to grad school was always a regret for me. Now that I've divorced Alex, I want to start over."

"What about you and Seb?"

Sharon smiled, her face calm. "Seb and I were just a fleeting dream. Now that the dream is over, I should wake up."

She and Seb never had a future together. Now that Seb was back with Grace, it was even more impossible.

Sophie was silent for a while, thinking that going back to school was indeed the best choice for Sharon right now.

"Where do you plan to apply?"

"A university in Aidamore. I have a senior studying there, and the schools are pretty good."

"That's far."

They were in Metropolis, almost at the southernmost area, while Aidamore was in the north. It would take several hours by plane.

"It's not far. I can come back anytime I want."

Sophie sighed and said no more.

She understood that Sharon wanted to apply to a school in Aidamore not just because the schools were good and she knew someone there, but mainly because she wanted to leave Metropolis and start fresh.

After breakfast, Sharon found a set of her own clothes for Sophie. They had similar body shapes and often swapped clothes.

While Sophie was showering, Sharon cleaned up the dining table.

Just as she put the dishes in the dishwasher, she got a call from Brian.

"Ms. Wright, I hope I'm not disturbing you?"

"No, I'm already up. Do you have news about last night's incident?"

"Yes." Brian's voice was a bit somber. "Samuel is the grandson of a victim from the Robert Pharmaceuticals incident six years ago. I heard that after the incident, he dropped out of school. He probably followed you last night out of resentment, planning to harm you."

Sharon lowered her eyes, feeling something was off.

Six years ago, she was still in college, and Robert had never made her information public. How did Samuel know she was Robert's daughter and track her down?

"Mr. Hill, I understand. But could you please check if Samuel has been in contact with anyone recently? I suspect someone is behind this."
