Chapter 515 I Came to Discuss Business
"Sharon, don't sweat it. This won't happen again."
Sharon didn't say a word, just took Demetrius and left.
It wasn't until she was out of sight that Leo and Jerold headed out.
None of them noticed the person lurking in the corner.
Randy dialed Seb's number again. "Uncle Seb, you don't need to come over. Ms. Roach already left with Demetrius. I found out that Demetrius and Jerold got into a fight at school this morning. Ms. Roach and Leo brought them here for a check-up, but they split up at the hospital entrance."
There was a brief silence on the other end before Seb's cold voice came through. "Got it."
Then, he hung up.
Sharon brought Demetrius back home. Dana, seeing Demetrius, was surprised. "Ms. Roach, why isn't Mr. Roach at school?"
"He's staying home with me today. Demetrius, go wash up and change your clothes."
Demetrius nodded, let go of Sharon's hand, and headed upstairs.
Dana didn't press further, just said, "Mr. Smith called earlier asking if you were home. I told him you weren't back yet. Do you want to call him back?"
Sharon paused while changing her shoes. Seb never called to ask about such things before.
Thinking about it, Sharon frowned. "Okay, I got it. You can go back to your work."
After changing her shoes, she sat on the couch, hesitated for a moment, and then dialed Seb's number.
"What's up?"
Sharon spoke softly, "Did you know I took Demetrius to the hospital?"
There was silence on the other end. After a while, Seb said, "Yeah, I know."
"Who told you?"
"Randy happened to be at the hospital. He saw you with Demetrius and Leo and called to ask me what was going on."
His voice was calm, like he was talking about the weather.
"Then why didn't you ask me when you called?"
"I did ask. You said you were shopping. I thought you didn't want to tell me, so I didn't push it."
"I didn't want to worry you because you're already stressed with the Silvercrest Group issues. I didn't want Demetrius's situation to add to your burden. But since you already know, why didn't you ask me directly instead of beating around the bush?"
The other end of the line went silent again.
Seb didn't speak, and after waiting a few minutes without a response, Sharon hung up.
It wasn't until late at night that Seb came home.
Seeing Sharon reading on the couch, he looked surprised. "Why are you still up?"
"I'm waiting for you."
Seb changed his shoes and sat next to Sharon, speaking softly, "It's late. Let's talk tomorrow."
Sharon pushed him away, looking directly into his eyes. "No, we talk tonight."
"Alright, go ahead."
"You know why I'm waiting for you in the living room."
Seb looked away, avoiding her gaze.
The room fell silent. After a few seconds, Seb spoke slowly, "Sharon, I'm sorry... I didn't say it directly because I was scared..."
"Scared of what? Scared I'd leave with Demetrius? Or scared I'd be with Leo?"
"Both... I've always been confident. If Silvercrest Group was still around, I wouldn't worry. But now that it's bankrupt... I feel insecure about you."
He believed he could make a comeback, but he feared Sharon would suffer with him and regret staying by his side.
Sharon hugged him tightly. "I won't leave you. Whether you're the CEO of Silvercrest Group or just an ordinary guy, you're the one I love. I love you, not the company."
"Sharon, I'm sorry. I was too sensitive."
"It's not your fault. It's normal to have doubts after such a big change. Just remember, I'll never leave you. That's all you need to know."
Seb didn't say anything, just held Sharon close.
Suddenly, they heard footsteps.
They looked towards the stairs and saw Demetrius coming down in his pajamas.
Seb let go of Sharon and looked at Demetrius. "Demetrius, why aren't you asleep?"
Demetrius didn't answer, just ran over and handed Seb a card.
"Dad, I heard your company went bankrupt because of money. This is the money I've saved over the years."
Seeing the card, Seb was touched.
"Demetrius, keep your money. Dad will find a way to solve the company's problems."
Demetrius insisted, pushing the card into his hand. "Dad, use this money first. You can pay me back later."
Seeing Demetrius's determined expression, Seb's eyes reddened. The money in Demetrius's card wasn't enough to pay the employees, but he knew it was all Demetrius had.
Seb took the card solemnly. "Demetrius, thank you. Dad will use this money wisely."
"Okay."
Seeing Seb accept the card, Demetrius said goodnight and went back to his room.
After his small figure disappeared upstairs, Seb turned to Sharon. "You got this card for him, right? It's his allowance over the years?"
Sharon nodded. "Yes, it should be a few thousand dollars by now."
For a child Demetrius's age, it was a significant amount.
Seb handed the card to her. "You keep it for him."
Sharon didn't take it. "It's his gesture. You keep it. The password is his birthday."
Seb thought for a moment and nodded. "You're right. I'll keep it."
"It's late. Let's get some sleep."
"Okay."
The next morning, Seb went to the office early.
After filing for bankruptcy, there were many things to handle.
As soon as he walked into his office, Paul knocked and entered. "Mr. Smith, the lawsuit against Vertex Innovations Group for stealing trade secrets is in the filing stage. We should be in court soon."
Seb nodded. "Good. Keep me updated."
"Will do. I'll head out now."
"Okay."
After Paul left, Seb started working on the bankruptcy procedures.
He hadn't been working long when he heard a commotion outside.
Frowning, Seb got up and walked out of his office, seeing Leo. His expression darkened.
"What are you doing here?"
Leo smiled slightly. "Mr. Smith, I'm here to discuss business."
Seeing the burly bodyguards behind Leo, Seb sneered. "You don't look like you're here for business. More like you're here to cause trouble."
Leo's smile didn't waver. "I had a feeling you wouldn't agree to see me easily."
"If you want to talk, have your men leave. Otherwise, there's nothing to discuss."
Leo glanced at his bodyguards. "Didn't you hear? Mr. Smith said to leave. Are you deaf?"
