Chapter 125 I Cheated Because You Can't Have Children
Seeing the "evidence" on Alex's phone, Sharon's eyes flashed with mockery.
"Just from this chat screenshot, you think I did it?"
"There's also a recording."
Alex played it. Sharon knew it was a setup but couldn't figure out why.
"The voice sounds like mine, but if you get it checked, you'll see it's fake."
Alex looked disappointed. "I gave you the evidence, and you're still denying it. When did you become so vicious, Sharon?"
"Am I vicious, or do you just see me that way? You didn't even verify the recording or chat logs. If I wanted to expose Ava's pregnancy, would I leave such obvious evidence?"
Anyone with sense would see it was a setup, but Alex was convinced she was behind it.
Alex hesitated. He had doubts when Joseph sent the evidence, but someone had to take the fall.
"Sharon, I promised Ava wouldn't affect your position. Now, Grandpa's disappointed in me. If I don't fix this, I might lose the Smith group inheritance."
"So what?"
Sharon looked at Alex coldly, waiting to see how much worse he'd get.
"Everyone in the Smith family knows you can't have kids. If you tell Grandpa and Grandma you want a child, then Ava and I..."
Sharon slapped Alex, her face full of anger. "You're utterly shameless!"
She was trembling with fury, never expecting Alex to say something like that.
A slap mark appeared on Alex's face, and his gaze turned cold.
"Am I wrong? If you could have kids, would I have cheated?"
The hallway fell silent. Seeing the hurt in Sharon's eyes, Alex felt guilty.
"Sharon, I didn't mean to..."
"Enough!"
Sharon cut him off coldly. "I don't want to hear it."
Alex lowered his eyes. "We're both emotional. I'll come back when you've calmed down."
Sharon didn't respond, just stared at the floor. With a sigh, Alex left.
Back home, Sharon called Seb.
"Uncle Seb, did you leak Ava's pregnancy?"
After a pause, Seb's deep voice replied, "No, why?"
"Just asking. You're still at work, right? I won't disturb you."
Sharon hung up quickly. She realized Seb wouldn't bother fabricating evidence.
The only ones who knew about Ava's pregnancy and wanted to frame her were Ava and Clara. Clara wouldn't expose it online, leaving only Ava.
Ava had bribed the maid to switch her dress last time, and Sharon hadn't dealt with that yet. Now, Ava was digging her own grave again.
Thinking about the so-called evidence, Sharon found it laughable.
Alex didn't even bother to verify it before believing it, showing he was already blind and foolish.
After a moment, Sharon called Joseph.
She sent the audio to a top authentication agency in Metropolis, who promised results in three days.
Knowing Alex would come by tomorrow, Sharon packed a couple of outfits and checked into a hotel to avoid any pointless arguments before the results came in.
Sure enough, the next morning, Alex called her at the office.
His voice was frantic, "Where are you? You didn't come home last night. Did you go see Seb?"
Sharon frowned and hung up.
Alex called several more times, but Sharon hung up each time. Finally, she blocked him.
Realizing he was blocked, Alex went straight to wait outside Silvercrest Group.
Since he was kicked out of the Smith group, he had plenty of time. He was determined to make Sharon go to the Smith mansion with him.
After work, Sharon was stopped by Alex as soon as she left the office.
His face was dark, eyes filled with anger. "Sharon, have you thought about what I said yesterday?"
"Do you think I would consider that?"
Sharon tried to walk past him, but Alex grabbed her.
"How does ruining me benefit you? You said you loved me, but now you won't even do this one thing for me. Is it all just a lie?"
Sharon laughed in anger at Alex's audacity.
Alex said such things with a straight face was totally shameless.
"Isn't it because you couldn't control yourself and got someone pregnant that you're in this mess?"
Alex gritted his teeth. "No matter what, you must come with me to the Smith mansion to explain."
Sharon shook off his hand. "Sorry, I don't like taking responsibility for others."
In their three years of marriage, she hadn't gotten pregnant. If Alex really wanted a child, he could have divorced her and been with someone else.
If Alex felt they couldn't continue, she wouldn't cling to him.
But Alex had cheated and now wanted her to tell the Smith family she wanted a child, so he cheated with Ava. He was utterly shameless.
"Are you really this heartless?"
Alex stared at Sharon, his eyes bloodshot, his expression terrifying.
His whole body exuded a cold and terrifying aura, making Sharon uneasy. She took a few steps back.
Alex reached out to grab her, but just as he was about to touch her, a cold voice sounded beside him.
"If you dare touch her, you can say goodbye to that hand."
Alex froze. He turned and saw Seb walking towards him with a blank expression.
Alex sneered, eyes narrowing dangerously. "Uncle Seb, I've already been kicked out of the Smith group. You really think you can still use that to threaten me?"
