Chapter 477 What Kind of Person Did You Marry!
She looked at the servant, "Got it, you can go back first. I'll check if Jerold is asleep and then I'll come over."
The servant nodded, "Okay, Ms. Bridges."
Ayla went upstairs, put the medicine in her bag, changed clothes, and went to The Bridges Mansion.
Knowing that Garry was in the study, Ayla didn't rush over but walked towards the kitchen instead.
"Grandpa loves the coffee I make the most. I'll make a pot and bring it to him."
Ayla made the coffee and personally carried it to the study.
As soon as she knocked and entered the study, she was met with Garry's cold eyes.
Ayla paused for a moment, then smiled and walked forward to place the coffee on the table, "Grandpa, who made you angry?"
Garry sneered and directly threw a document on the table, "See for yourself!"
Ayla poured a cup of coffee for Garry and handed it to him, "Grandpa, have some coffee first."
As soon as she finished speaking, Garry directly pushed away the coffee she handed over. The scalding coffee spilled onto Ayla's hand, causing a sharp pain. She quickly let go of the coffee cup.
While looking down at her coffee-burned hand, Garry's cold voice sounded above her, "Ayla, take a good look at this document and see what kind of person you married!"
Ayla was stunned for a moment. Enduring the pain on her hand, she picked up the document and opened it.
After reading for a while, she looked shocked and then disbelieving.
"How... how is this possible?"
How could Leo be the owner behind Vertex Innovations Group?
She had been married to Leo for five years, and in her eyes, he was just a man living off the Bridges family. How could he be the owner of a listed company?
"Grandpa... could there be a mistake? If he were the owner of Vertex Innovations Group, why would he marry into the Bridges family?"
Garry sneered, "I wish I were mistaken, but this document was given to me by Seb. Do you think it could be fake?"
"Why would he do this?"
"Why?" Garry stared at her angrily, "Of course, it's for taking the Bridges Group down! That game company is now under his name, which means we used the Bridges Group's money to buy that it, and he didn't spend a penny to take over such a profitable game company!"
The more Garry spoke, the angrier he became.
He originally thought Ayla could be groomed as the future successor, but now Garry was truly disappointed in her.
"You've been married to him and living together for five years, and you didn't notice anything. It shows how stupid you are!"
Ayla shook her head, "Grandpa, he has always behaved normally these years. He goes to the game company for work during the day and spends weekends at home with Jerold. There has never been any abnormal behavior. Besides, didn't you also not notice anything wrong?"
"You've spent the most time with him. If you didn't notice, how could anyone else?"
Facing Garry's angry expression, Ayla felt wronged and confused. Clearly, it was Leo's fault, so why blame her?
"Alright, you can go back. Be wary of him in the future. I'll have a lawyer from the Bridges Group help you with the divorce. He has caused so much harm to the Bridges Group. If you want a divorce, make sure he pays dearly!"
Ayla didn't say anything, lowered her head, and turned to leave.
Back at the villa, sitting on the sofa, she was still a bit confused and in disbelief.
Leo was actually the owner of Vertex Innovations Group?
If someone else had told her this, she would have thought it was a fantasy. But Garry said the document was given by Seb, so it couldn't be wrong.
However, since Leo was the owner of Vertex Innovations Group, there was no need for her to harm Garry. The market value of Vertex Innovations Group was much higher than that of the Bridges Group now.
Thinking of this, Ayla was initially happy, but then her expression changed.
She had put the medicine she brought into the coffee she made for Garry.
If Garry had drunk the coffee...
Ayla quickly got up and hurried back to the mansion. As soon as she entered the living room, she saw the servant carrying the pot of coffee she had sent to the study back to the kitchen.
She hurriedly stopped the servant, panting, "Did Grandpa drink this coffee?"
The servant was a bit puzzled but shook her head, "No, Mr. Bridges said he was going to sleep and that drinking coffee would cause insomnia, so he had someone bring him a cup of warm milk instead."
"That's good." Ayla breathed a sigh of relief but noticed the servant's puzzled look. She quickly explained, "I just suddenly remembered reading somewhere that it's not good for the elderly to drink coffee at night."
"By the way, give me this coffee. It's my favorite flavor, and I don't want to waste it."
Although the servant found it a bit strange, she still handed the coffee to her.
"Okay, Ms. Bridges."
"Get some rest."
After sending the servant away, Ayla carried the coffee and left the mansion, walking quickly back home.
In the mansion, Garry stopped the servant and said coldly, "What did Ayla just say to you?"
The servant was startled by Garry's sudden appearance and turned pale, "Mr. Bridges, Ms. Bridges just said that it's not good for the elderly to drink coffee at night, and since it's her favorite flavor, she didn't want to waste it, so she took it back."
Garry's eyes darkened, "Got it, you can go rest now."
"Okay... okay."
After the servant left, Garry coldly said to the butler behind him, "When Ayla brought the coffee to the study earlier, I spilled a cup, and the coffee splashed on the floor. Get someone to take a sample of the coffee for testing to see if there's anything in it."
The butler's face changed, "Mr. Bridges, are you suspecting that Ms. Bridges put something in the coffee?"
"Just do as I say."
"Okay, okay."
Two hours later, the butler handed a document to Garry. "Mr. Bridges, this is the coffee test report."
Garry took it and paused for a few seconds before opening it.
His eyes stayed on the test results for a long time before he slowly closed the document.
He couldn't believe that the granddaughter he had carefully nurtured for so long would have the intention to kill him.
The coffee contained a nerve-paralyzing drug that would cause the heart to contract violently in a short time, leading to a heart attack, and it would be quickly metabolized. Even an autopsy would only conclude that the person died of a heart attack.
If he had drunk that cup of coffee, he might already be a corpse.
And Ayla only needed to dispose of the coffee cup and pot to cover it up completely.
He couldn't understand why Ayla would do this.
Was it just because he didn't let her back into the company?
