Chapter 131 Do You Have the Nerve to Say That to Me?

When Seb got to the hospital, Sharon was slumped in a chair outside the ER, covered in blood and looking lifeless.

He frowned and rushed over, squatting in front of her.

Seeing her pale face, his eyes darkened. "Are you hurt?"

Sharon, snapping out of her daze, focused on Seb. She hugged him tightly, her voice shaking. "Uncle Seb, Alex had a car accident trying to save me. He lost so much blood."

Seb gently patted her back. "It's okay, don't be scared. He'll be fine."

A sharp voice interrupted. "What are you doing!"

Sharon pulled away from Seb and saw Clara storming over, with David looking grim behind her.

Clara's glare was like a knife. 'That bitch Sharon! Alex is in the ER because of her, and she's here flirting with Seb!'

Clara raised her hand to slap Sharon, but Seb caught it. "Clara, this is a hospital. Calm down."

Clara sneered, shaking off Seb's hand. "Seb, how dare you? Sharon is Alex's wife. He's in there because of her, and she's already throwing herself at you. She's a slut!"

Seb's face darkened. "Clara, watch your mouth, or else."

"Or else what? You two are disgusting, and you think no one can talk about it?"

David cut in coldly, "Enough. Shut up. We need to wait for Alex's surgery to end. We'll deal with everything else later."

David's cold gaze fell on Sharon, a hint of menace in his eyes.

Clara, fuming, snapped at David. "Why wait? Sharon's already betrayed Alex, and you're just letting it slide? What kind of father are you?"

Sharon stayed silent, knowing Clara wouldn't believe her anyway. Plus, she did have feelings for Seb.

David's face turned ashen. He slapped Clara. "If you can't focus on what's important, go home! Stop embarrassing yourself!"

Clara, stunned, covered her face, eyes full of disappointment and anger. "David, I must have been blind to marry you!"

David looked at her coldly. Clara, seeing no support from him, glared at Sharon. "If anything happens to Alex, I won't let you off!"

Seb stepped in front of Sharon, eyes cold. "Try touching her, I dare you."

Clara sneered but stayed silent.

The hallway was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Finally, the emergency room door opened.

Clara rushed to the doctor. "How's my son?"

"He's stable but might not walk again. Be prepared for that."

"What?"

Clara staggered back, eyes wide with disbelief and horror.

She grabbed the doctor's hand. "He's my only son. You have to save him!"

If Alex ended up disabled, he'd lose his shot at inheriting the Smith Group. Tyler would never pass the Smith Group to someone who couldn't walk.

The doctor shook his head. "I've done my best. He'll be moved to a ward soon, and you can see him then."

Clara turned on Sharon, ready to hit her. "You ruined my son! I won't let you off!"

Seb pushed Clara away, standing protectively in front of Sharon.

Clara, hysterical, tried to slap Seb, but David grabbed her. "Are you crazy?"

Clara shook him off, eyes red. "Yes, I'm crazy! My son is crippled because of that bitch Sharon. I regret ever letting her marry Alex!"

She collapsed, crying and pounding her chest.

David pulled her up. "Let's see Alex first. We'll deal with everything else later."

He dragged Clara away.

Seb turned to Sharon. "Don't blame yourself. This isn't your fault."

Sharon took a deep breath. "Uncle Seb, this wasn't an accident. Someone tried to kill me."

Sharon recalled, 'When the van came at me, it sped up. It was intentional.'

"I'll find out who did this."

"Thank you, Uncle Seb."

"Let's go to the room."

As they reached the room, two police officers approached Sharon.

"Miss Wright, we need your statement about the accident. Are you available now?"

Sharon nodded, her voice hoarse. "Can we do it here?"

"Yes."

The police sat with Sharon outside the room, asking about the accident.

No one noticed the brief darkness in David's expression nearby.

Half an hour later, the statement was done.

As the police were leaving, Sharon asked, "Was the driver caught?"

"The driver died at the scene. He was drunk. Probably why he lost control."
