Chapter 486 Tell Him to Give Up!

Ayla's lips curled into a smile as she said, "Jerold, come here, sweetie. Mommy's got something to tell you."

Under Ayla's gentle coaxing, Jerold finally started to inch closer.

But as soon as he was within reach, Ayla grabbed his shirt, her expression turning cold.

"I told you to come here earlier. Why didn't you listen?"

Jerold's face went pale with fear, tears welling up in his eyes. "Mommy... I was scared..."

"Scared of what?"

"Scared you'd hit me."

When he was with Leo, he was always afraid he would never see Ayla again. But now that he was with her, he found her terrifying, nothing like the gentle Ayla he remembered.

Ayla grew irritated by his crying and snapped, "Stop crying! If you don't, I'll throw you out!"

Jerold was so frightened he didn't dare make another sound, but he couldn't stop hiccupping, his face streaked with tears, looking pitiful.

The door to the hospital room opened, and Carol walked in with some medication.

Seeing Ayla gripping Jerold's shirt with anger on her face, Carol was startled. She quickly moved to take Jerold aside.

Noticing Jerold's pale face and his struggle to hold back tears, Carol frowned.

"Ms. Bridges, why are you doing this? No matter what issues you have with Mr. Leo Wendy, Jerold is still your child. If you and Mr. Leo Wendy do get divorced, Jerold will be your only hope in the future. If you don't treat him well now, he won't be there for you later."

Ayla sneered, "Hope? I can't even rely on Leo, and you think I can rely on a child?"

"Ms. Bridges, even if you don't rely on him, he's still your flesh and blood. If you don't care for him, who will?"

Carol's words were earnest, but Ayla didn't listen to a single one.

"If I care for him, then who will care for me?"

Seeing Ayla's resentful expression, Carol sighed and stopped trying to persuade her. It was clear Ayla wouldn't listen.

Carol tidied up the room and planned to take Jerold back to the villa, but Jerold refused to leave.

"Carol, I want to stay with Mommy."

Seeing Jerold's fear but his unwillingness to leave Ayla, Carol felt a pang of sadness.

They said a parent's love for their child was unconditional, but in truth, a child's love for their parent was unconditional. They were born loving their parents.

"Alright, then I'll stay here with you."

"Okay!" Jerold nodded vigorously.

In the evening, Garry was working on some documents when the butler, Manuel Barnett, came in to inform him that Leo had arrived.

Garry was momentarily stunned, then his expression darkened. "He has the nerve to come here?"

Thinking about how Leo had spent five years infiltrating the Bridges family just to take over the Bridges Group, Garry was filled with hatred.

"He said he has a business proposal to discuss with you. Do you want to see him?"

A business proposal?

Garry sneered, "Bring him to the study."

He was curious to see what kind of business Leo wanted to discuss.

Soon, Manuel brought Leo to the study.

"Grandpa."

"Don't call me Grandpa. I don't deserve that title from you," Garry said coldly, his face expressionless.

Leo wasn't fazed. He smiled and sat down across from Garry.

"Grandpa, please don't be angry. I'm here to discuss a big business deal with you."

"I don't dare do business with you. Who knows if you'll stab me in the back?"

Leo's smile didn't waver. "Grandpa, rest assured, I won't scheme against you. I'm here to return the gaming company to the Bridges Group, free of charge."

Garry looked at him coldly, his old eyes sharp. "You'd be that generous?"

"Of course, I have conditions."

"What conditions?"

"I want a divorce from Ayla, and I want custody of Jerold. After the divorce, the Bridges family must send her abroad, never to return."

Garry was surprised. Giving back such a large gaming company just to divorce Ayla?

As for sending Ayla abroad, Garry had planned to do that anyway.

Seeing Garry's stern face, Leo wasn't in a hurry. He sat quietly, waiting for a response.

After a long while, Garry spoke coldly, "How can I trust you're telling the truth? You won't strip the company of all its core projects and leave me with a useless shell, will you?"

Leo chuckled. "Of course not, Grandpa. That gaming company makes a few billion dollars a year, but it's nothing to me. Giving it back to the Bridges Group doesn't hurt me. What I want is a divorce from Ayla."

"I need to think about it. You can go now."

Leo stood up, adjusted his sleeves, and smiled. "Alright, but please decide soon. My patience is limited. Even if you don't help, I have other ways to get Ayla to divorce me, though it might get ugly."

Garry's face stiffened. "Are you threatening me?"

"Not a threat, just a reminder, Grandpa." With that, Leo turned and walked out.

Watching his back, Garry couldn't reconcile this confident man with the previously meek son-in-law.

How could he be the owner of Vertex Innovations Group?

But the impossible had happened.

After Leo left, Garry immediately instructed Manuel to summon Ayla.

Manuel looked troubled. "Mr. Bridges, Ms. Bridges fell down the stairs last night and broke a bone. She's in the hospital."

"Have her come home. I need to speak with her."

"Yes, sir. I'll go right away."

Over an hour later, Carol wheeled Ayla into the Bridges Mansion.

Seeing Ayla's cast, Manuel said, "Ms. Bridges, Mr. Garry Bridges is waiting for you in the study."

"Is there something urgent Grandpa needs to discuss?"

Manuel shook his head. "I don't know, but Mr. Leo Wendy was here earlier."

"What did he want?" Ayla's eyes widened, anger flashing across her face.

"I'm not sure. Mr. Leo Wendy talked with Mr. Bridges in the study for a while and then left. You'll have to ask Mr. Bridges yourself."

After bringing Ayla to the study, Manuel and Carol left.

As soon as the door closed, Ayla couldn't wait to ask, "Grandpa, what did Leo want?"

"He said he's willing to return the gaming company to the Bridges Group, on the condition that you divorce him."

Ayla's face lit up at the first part, but then turned to anger.

"No way! I won't divorce him. Tell him to give up on that idea!"
