Chapter 602 Between Sophie and Her, I Choose Sophie

"Just go, I don't want to argue with you here."

Randy felt a sharp pain in his chest as he looked at Sophie's cold profile. He turned and left immediately.

It wasn't until his figure disappeared at the restaurant door that the guy let go of Sophie's hand.

"Sophie, are you okay?"

Sophie turned to look at him. "I'm fine. Let's just finish our meal."

For the rest of the meal, Sophie seemed distracted.

The guy noticed and tried everything to make her laugh, but Sophie remained somewhat downcast.

After they finished eating, Sophie drove him back, staying silent the whole way, a stark contrast to the lighthearted mood when they first came to the restaurant.

When the car stopped at his college entrance, he turned to Sophie. "Sophie, do you still have feelings for the guy who came to see you today?"

Sophie was taken aback for a moment, then turned to him. "No, I'm just tired. Don't overthink it. Get some rest."

"When can we meet again? I'll take you out for dinner."

"We'll see. Work's been busy lately."

"Alright."

Disappointment was written all over his face, his eyes drooping like a puppy abandoned by its owner.

Sophie couldn't help but soften a bit. She said quietly, "I have a project coming up, and I'll be working overtime for the next week. I'll contact you when it's done."

Hearing Sophie's explanation, the guy's eyes lit up. "Okay, Sophie, I'll wait for your message."

"Alright."

After he left, Sophie drove home.

As soon as she reached her door, she saw Randy's car parked there.

Sophie stopped her car and walked straight inside, ignoring Randy.

"Sophie!"

Randy caught up and blocked her at the door.

"Move." Sophie's tone was full of impatience.

Randy looked down at her, his eyes filled with hurt. "Sophie, are you mad at me? Because of that guy?"

"Randy, I'm really tired today. I don't want to argue with you, and I don't want to see you. Please disappear from my sight immediately."

"I won't. You're abandoning me for another man, and I won't allow it!"

Thinking about the guy at the restaurant who said he was willing to be a lover, Randy felt a surge of anger he couldn't vent.

Sophie looked up at him. "Randy, you were the one who abandoned me first. And, do I need to remind you again that we're already broken up? You have no right to interfere with who I see."

"But you promised me that if I didn't see Electra for a month, you'd forgive me."

"Then come back when you've done that."

Sophie stepped past Randy, intending to open the door.

The next second, she felt a hand around her waist.

Before Sophie could struggle, Randy pulled her into his arms.

Feeling her in his embrace, Randy finally felt a sense of reality.

Seeing Sophie with another man at the restaurant earlier had filled him with unprecedented panic, as if he was truly losing her.

"Let go of me!"

Sophie's voice was angry, her hands pushing against Randy's chest, her eyes full of resistance.

Randy held her tightly and whispered in her ear, "Sophie, you can see other guys this month. I won't interfere, but I hope that after this month, you'll forgive me and get back together with me."

Sophie was stunned for a moment, then she sneered. "You're really generous."

Randy fell silent for a while before speaking softly, "I'm not generous. I just understood how you felt when you saw me with Electra. Consider this month as my punishment."

Sophie pushed him away, her face expressionless. "Say that again when the month is over."

"Don't worry, I'll keep my promise."

Sophie's eyes flashed with sarcasm, but she said nothing more.

It wasn't until she walked into the house that Randy turned and left.

Back in her bedroom, Sophie sat on the couch and rubbed her aching temples.

For the next few days, Sophie was busy with her project, sometimes too busy to even eat.

The guy would occasionally text her, asking what she was doing. If Sophie had time, she'd reply; if not, she'd ignore it.

Fortunately, he was considerate and didn't keep asking when she didn't respond.

By Friday evening, the preliminary work for the project was finally settled, and Sophie could finally enjoy a weekend.

She called Sharon, hoping to go out for drinks.

There was a brief silence on the other end before Sharon's voice came through. "Sophie, I'm pregnant. I can't drink right now."

"Pregnant? Why can't you drink... Wait, what? You're pregnant? When did this happen?"

"I just found out recently. I wanted to tell you last time you came over, but I forgot."

After the initial shock, Sophie said, "Congratulations! I want to be the godmother!"

"Of course, you will be."

"But you're having your second child, and I don't even have a fiancé yet. The world is so unfair to me!"

Sharon couldn't help but laugh. "You'll find someone. Didn't you have dinner with a guy recently? How's that going?"

Sophie pouted. "Don't mention it. Randy ruined it. Just thinking about it annoys me."

"Is it really over between you and Randy?"

Sophie lowered her eyes and spoke softly after a long pause. "I don't know. I'm confused. I told him if he didn't see Electra for a month, I'd forgive him. We'll see after a month."

She had been with Randy for so long; it wasn't easy to just let go.

Sophie still had feelings for him, but now, every time she faced him, she wondered which of his words were true and which were lies.

If she had to live in constant doubt, she wouldn't be able to stand it.

"Take your time to think about it. Relationships should be about happiness, not just marriage."

Marriage should bring happiness, but not being married can also be a choice for happiness.

Sharon had only married Seb because she was sure she wouldn't love anyone else.

"I know. I'll find somewhere to have dinner."

After hanging up, Sophie opened Facebook and clicked on a chat with Saul Pena. The screen was filled with his messages.

"Sophie, are you busy? It started snowing during class today, and I thought of you."

Below was a picture of the snowy scene outside his college classroom.

These messages were from yesterday. Sophie had glanced at them while rushing a document and then forgotten to reply.

This morning, he sent a funny Saul meme, followed by a sleepy emoji.

"Winter mornings are so hard to get up. I wish I could be welded to my blanket."

Seeing this message, Sophie couldn't help but smile.

Just as she was about to reply, another message popped up in the chat.

"Sophie, are you still busy? I have time tomorrow. If you're working, I can cook and bring it to you."

Sophie raised an eyebrow and called him.

He answered quickly, sounding a bit nervous. "Sophie, why did you suddenly call?"

"Am I bothering you?"

"No, I'm just surprised."

Sophie smiled. "Have you had dinner yet?"

"Not yet. Our school cafeteria just opened a new noodle place. It's really good. Do you want to try it?"

Saul's cautious tone softened Sophie's heart.

"Okay, give me twenty minutes."

She hung up and drove to Serenity University.

As soon as she parked at the school entrance, she saw Saul walking towards her.

Sophie got out of the car and walked towards him.

"Have you been waiting for me at the entrance?"

Saul shook his head. "No, I just got here."

He spoke while avoiding eye contact with Sophie.

As they walked into the campus, Saul introduced his college to her.

Sophie couldn't help but laugh. "I used to go to Serenity University too."

"Really?"

Saul was stunned, hardly believing it. "Really?"

"Yes, so you should call me senior."

"Hello, senior."

They both laughed. Sophie looked at the campus scenery and said, "The school has changed a lot since I was a student."

"After dinner, I'll give you a tour."

"Thanks, junior."

Meanwhile, Randy was reviewing documents when his secretary knocked and entered.

"Mr. Smith, Ms. Lee went to Serenity University after work."

Randy's grip on the document tightened. "Is she meeting that guy?"

"I'm not sure. Should I investigate?"

"No need. You can leave."

After the secretary left, Randy put down the document and picked up his phone. After hesitating for a moment, he sent Sophie a message.

"Sophie, are you free tomorrow? I booked a table at the restaurant you wanted to try. How about lunch together?"

After sending the message, there was no response.

Randy waited for over half an hour, growing increasingly anxious.

He stood up, grabbed his coat, and was about to leave when he received a call from Delbert.

"Randy Smith, Electra got hurt because of you and is still in the hospital. You haven't visited or even called to check on her. Isn't that too much?"

"I have things to do. I'm grateful she saved me, and I'll fulfill any requests she has, but I won't see her again."

Delbert's voice turned angry. "What did you say? Randy, do you have any conscience? Electra got hurt because of you, and we've been friends for years. Are you really going to fall out with her over Sophie?"

Randy stopped and spoke seriously. "Between Sophie and her, I choose Sophie."
