Chapter 191 He Has No Choice But to Accept This Loss
The black Maybach pulled up next to Sharon's car, and both of them turned to look.
Sharon frowned a bit, while Vincent looked puzzled at the car beside them.
Then, Seb got out of the car and walked over.
Vincent's face changed. He'd met Seb once while working for David. If Seb recognized him in front of Sharon, all his efforts would be wasted, and his daughter Shirley's treatment abroad would be jeopardized.
Thinking fast, Vincent whispered to Sharon, "Ms. Wright, let's talk later," and quickly walked away.
Seb frowned as he watched Vincent leave but didn't chase him. Instead, he stopped by Sharon's car.
"Who was that guy?"
Sharon stayed calm. "Just someone asking for directions."
Seb didn't buy it. 'Who asks for directions in an underground parking lot?' he thought.
Sharon didn't care if he believed her and got out, heading for the elevator.
Vincent's behavior was odd today. He usually insisted on meeting in person to hand over evidence. When she refused, he came to find her, which seemed too eager. But maybe he just wanted justice for Percy. She needed to figure out Vincent's true intentions.
While pondering, Sharon's wrist was suddenly grabbed.
She instinctively shook it off and glared at Seb. "Mr. Smith, you have a girlfriend. Don't pull me around. If someone sees and thinks I'm a mistress, I can't explain it."
Seb's gaze darkened. Sharon clearly wanted to distance herself from him.
"Sharon, that guy looked familiar. Are you sure you don't know him?"
"I don't know him. If you don't believe me, check it yourself. I'm not explaining again."
Sharon turned and walked to the elevator, playing a mobile game to show she didn't want to deal with Seb.
Seb's hand clenched as he watched her.
In the elevator, Sharon felt Seb's gaze on her and frowned, irritated.
Since Seb chose Grace, he shouldn't be acting like this.
'Wanting both is too much,' Sharon thought.
She glanced at the floor number, feeling the elevator was too slow.
As soon as the doors opened, Sharon quickly walked out and disappeared around the corner.
Seb's eyes turned cold as he watched her leave.
In his office, he called his secretary investigating Stellaria.
"How's the investigation on Grace?"
"Mr. Smith, it's almost done. I got Miss Hall's medical records. She was diagnosed with a terminal illness a year ago. But her income can't cover her medical expenses, and she has no debt. This might take a few more days to investigate."
"Got it. Find out ASAP."
Hanging up, Seb's face darkened.
Grace had used her life-saving favor to get him back, to spend her last three months with her.
Seb had offered to repay Grace in other ways, but she said with only three months to live, things like houses or money were meaningless. So, he had to agree, even though he knew it would hurt Sharon.
Thinking of Sharon's coldness today, Seb felt a pang of pain.
He had wronged Sharon.
Seb had a gut feeling that if he didn't cut ties with Grace soon, he would really lose Sharon.
Suppressing his turmoil, Seb dialed the internal phone. "Investigate the man who spoke to Sharon in the parking lot this morning."
Paul quickly brought Vincent's info to Seb's office after checking the surveillance footage.
"Mr. Smith, Vincent Coleman has no previous interactions with Ms. Wright. But his father, Percy Coleman, was a victim in the Robert Pharmaceuticals incident."
Seb browsed through Vincent's info, frowning, and finally focused on Vincent's photo.
Vincent had a distinctive look, especially with a mole on the left corner of his mouth. Seb was sure he'd seen him before but couldn't recall where.
He set the info aside. "Keep an eye on him. Let me know if he contacts Sharon."
"Yes, Mr. Smith."
After Paul left, Seb tried to focus on work, pushing down his unease.
Meanwhile, Alex finally woke up after being unconscious for over ten hours.
Ava, eyes red with excitement, hurried to his bedside.
"Alex, you're finally awake. I was so worried. Who did this to you?"
Alex slowly sat up, wincing from the pain of his bandaged wounds.
He gritted his teeth, leaning back against the bed, eyes filled with resentment.
'Seb knew who captured me but did nothing. I won't forget this!'
Seeing Ava's tear-filled eyes, Alex's cold expression softened a bit.
"Ava, did I scare you yesterday?"
Ava shook her head, tears streaming. "I'm fine. I just want to know who did this to you. Why won't you let me call the police?"
Alex's eyes turned vicious. "Who did it doesn't matter. What matters is you must keep it a secret."
He had signed a contract with Zephyr Enterprises under the name of Silvercrest Group, which was illegal. Zephyr's people had beaten him up, settling the score.
If he called the police and angered Zephyr, they might pursue the fake contract, and he could end up in jail.
So, he had to swallow this loss.
What he hated was that Seb could have easily told Zephyr's people to let him go, but Seb had told them to leave him barely alive.
Seb was so cold-blooded towards him that he didn't deserve to be a Smith!
Ava wanted to ask more but seeing Alex's grim face, she didn't dare.
She wiped her tears. "Alright, I understand. Besides Dr. Patterson, I didn't tell anyone about your injuries, and I told Dr. Patterson to keep it quiet."
Alex's gaze softened a bit. "Thank you."
Ava shook her head. "You're my husband. Don't say that. I made some soup. I'll get it for you."
"Okay."
As soon as Ava left the bedroom, Alex's phone on the nightstand rang.
When Ava returned with the soup, she was met with Alex's icy, piercing gaze.
"Ava, what have you been doing these past two days?"
