Chapter 307 A Scheming Woman

Sharon didn't really care about Alex showing up out of the blue.

They cut ties the moment they got divorced, and she had no plans to reconnect.

The car zipped into a villa neighborhood, with rows of elm trees lining the road, creating a green tunnel.

Ten minutes later, the car pulled up in front of a villa.

The driver hopped out and opened the door for Sharon. "Ms. Roach, we're here."

Sharon stepped out with Demetrius. As they looked at the villa, Demetrius's eyes filled with resistance.

He remembered being locked up here by Seb before.

Sharon was about to head inside when she felt Demetrius gently tugging at her hand.

She looked down and saw his scared eyes, pausing instinctively.

"Demetrius, what's up?" she asked.

"Mom, didn't you say we were going home? Why are we here? Do you not want me anymore?" Tears welled up in Demetrius's eyes, his big eyes looking at her pitifully, his face full of hurt.

Sharon's heart melted. She quickly squatted down, looking into his eyes and speaking softly, "Demetrius, I would never abandon you. Remember when those people broke into our home and took you away? It's not safe there right now. We'll stay here for a bit, and I'll take you back when things calm down."

Demetrius's eyes were full of unease and doubt. "Really? You won't just leave me and sneak away?"

"When have I ever lied to you? I'll always be by your side."

With Sharon's repeated assurances, Demetrius finally smiled through his tears, holding her hand as they walked towards the villa.

Two women stood at the villa entrance. One was about forty, with a kind face and a smile, and the other in her early twenties, also smiling but with a hint of scrutiny and hostility in her eyes.

As they reached the steps, the older woman, Dana Butler, quickly pulled the younger one forward, smiling. "Ms. Roach, hello. I'm the housekeeper here, Dana Butler, and this is my niece, Dora Butler. She helps out around the villa."

Seeing Sharon up close, a flash of jealousy and disdain crossed Dora's eyes—jealous of Sharon's pretty face and disdainful of her as a woman trying to use a child to gain status.

But on the surface, Dora still spoke politely. "Ms. Roach, if you need anything, just let me know."

Sharon nodded slightly, not paying much attention to the faint hostility Dora inadvertently revealed.

She looked at Dana and smiled. "Alright, Dana, I might stay here for a while, so I'll be counting on you."

Dana had a good impression of Sharon and smiled warmly. "Ms. Roach, you're too polite. It's my job. Let me show you to your room."

"Okay."

As Dana walked inside, she introduced the villa's setup to Sharon. "Besides me and Dora, there's also a butler and a driver here. The driver is Peter, who just brought you back. If you need to go out, you can ask him to drive you. The butler is my husband, who's currently trimming the garden. I'll introduce him to you later."

Sharon smiled. "No need to go out of your way to meet me. I'm just staying here temporarily. I'll try not to trouble you."

"Ms. Roach, if you have any requests, just let us know. It's no trouble at all!"

Sharon was left speechless for a moment, feeling Dana was a bit too enthusiastic.

As they talked, they reached the second floor.

Dana opened the door to the second room on the right and smiled. "Ms. Roach, this is your room. If you need any changes, just let me know."

Sharon walked into the room, which was decked out in blue and white, giving off a fresh and comfy vibe.

The window was open, and the light blue curtains swayed gently with the breeze. A round table with a beige tablecloth stood by the window, with a vase of roses on it, the petals still dewy, clearly freshly picked. The air was filled with the sweet scent of roses.

"I really like this room, Dana. Thanks a lot."

Seeing Sharon's genuine smile, Dana felt relieved and smiled back. "Ms. Roach, I'm glad you like it. Mr. Demetrius Smith's room is the third one next door. If there's nothing else, I'll go prepare lunch. If you need anything, just call me or Dora."

Sharon nodded, "Okay."

After Dana and Dora left, Sharon looked at Demetrius and asked, "Demetrius, do you want to take a nap in your room?"

Last night, knowing he could be discharged this morning, Demetrius was so excited that he only slept for a few hours. Just now in the car, his eyelids were drooping, clearly sleep-deprived.

Demetrius held her hand, looking up at her, "Mom, can I sleep here with you?"

Despite Demetrius's efforts to hide it, Sharon still saw the unease and fear in his eyes.

She reached out and patted his head, smiling, "Of course you can."

After coaxing Demetrius to sleep, Sharon sat down on the sofa by the window, her eyes lowered in thought.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Dora was pinching the greens in her hand, her brows tightly furrowed, her face full of dissatisfaction.

"Aunt Dana, why are you being so nice to that Ms. Roach? I think she's just trying to use that boy to gain status. We absolutely can't let Mr. Smith be seduced by her!"

Dana was making soup. Hearing this, she turned around and saw that Dora had ruined quite a few greens in the basket. She snatched the basket from her hands and said, "What she thinks has nothing to do with you. You're just a servant. Besides, I think Ms. Roach is quite nice, gentle, and easy to get along with."

Dora sneered, "Of course, she has to pretend to be nice at first. Just wait a few days, and you'll see her true colors! And Mr. Smith already has a fiancée. I think Ms. Walker is way better than her!"

In Dora's eyes, Rebecca, after all, was a lady from the Walker family. She and Seb would be a perfect match.

Sharon was just a woman who secretly gave birth to Seb's child, trying to use the child to gain status. She was a scheming woman, unworthy of Seb!

Dana glared at her, her tone warning, "Whether it's Ms. Walker or Ms. Roach, it has nothing to do with you. I advise you to put away those bad thoughts, or I'll tell Mr. Smith to kick you out!"

Dora pouted, "Got it!"

Dana added, "You better take my words to heart. Mr. Smith is not someone you can dream about!"

Ignoring Dana's words, Dora turned her head and said, "We're out of tea. I'll ask Peter to buy some."

With that, Dora turned and quickly walked out of the kitchen.

Watching Dora's back, Dana felt helpless. If Dora weren't her niece, entrusted to her by her brother on his deathbed, she would have kicked her out the day she found out about her feelings for Seb.

Dana believed that as long as she kept an eye on her, Dora shouldn't be able to cause much trouble. Near noon, Dana had just placed the soup on the table and was about to go upstairs to call Sharon and Demetrius for lunch when she heard footsteps at the door.

She turned and saw Seb's tall figure walking in, a look of surprise in her eyes.

Seb rarely came home for lunch while working; if he needed documents, he'd send his secretary to get them

"Mr. Smith, you're back. Have you had lunch?"
