Chapter 212 Very Likely to Be Sued by Silvercrest Group
"Got it." Brain replied.
Hanging up the phone, Sharon sat on the couch, trying to figure out who the other person could be. They had to be someone important, given their knowledge of the Robert Pharmaceuticals incident and their ability to find Samuel.
Sophie came out of the bathroom, spotting Sharon deep in thought. She waved a hand in front of Sharon's face. "What's on your mind?"
Sharon snapped out of it, shook her head, and stood up. "Nothing, let's go."
Meanwhile, Victor was fuming when he found out Samuel had been spotted tailing Sharon. "What an idiot! He got caught right away!"
The secretary kept his head down, speaking cautiously after Victor calmed down. "Mr. Edwards, maybe we should stop having Samuel follow Sharon. It could lead back to us."
Victor's expression was icy. After a long pause, he said, "No, he won't expose me even if he's caught. Have him lay low for now and wait for the right moment."
"Yes, sir!"
After the secretary left, Victor's eyes narrowed. He had no personal grudge against Sharon; she was just in his way. If Sharon disappeared, he could be with Grace.
After dropping Sophie off at the company, Sharon was about to head home when Paul called. His voice was cold. "Ms. Wright, where are you? Come to the company immediately."
Sharon's heart sank. "Mr. Harris, did you find any evidence about the data leak?"
"You'll know when you get here," Paul said, hanging up.
Sharon arrived at Silvercrest Group a little after 10 AM. The receptionist led her to the top-floor conference room. Besides her, Leo and Ashley were there, along with some people she didn't know. Everyone looked serious.
Ashley gave her a hesitant look but then bit her lip and looked down. Paul's gaze was particularly cold. "Ms. Wright, please have a seat."
Sharon sat down as the big screen lit up, showing a photo. "Ms. Wright, our tech team found that your computer sent a compressed file of your recent experimental data to the Pacific Wellness Institute at 8 PM last Wednesday."
Sharon's eyes widened. "I left work right after my shift last Wednesday. I couldn't have been in the lab at 8 PM to send data."
Paul nodded. "The email was scheduled, and the traces were manually erased. It took our tech team a lot of time to recover it. The timestamp shows it was during your working hours."
"So, if you can't prove you didn't send this email, Silvercrest Group might sue you."
Sharon's face went pale, and her hands clenched. But she knew she had to stay calm.
"Can I know the exact time the email was scheduled?"
"Yes, it was scheduled at 1:30 PM on Tuesday."
Sharon usually took a nap at that time, right at her desk. She was a light sleeper, so no one could have touched her computer without her knowing. But she was sure she hadn't sent that email.
"Mr. Harris, if I really wanted to give the Pacific Wellness Institute the data, I wouldn't leave any evidence."
"Ms. Wright, it's pointless to argue. The email came from your computer. If you can't prove otherwise, you'll have to take responsibility."
Sharon's eyes were cold. "I didn't do it, and I won't admit to it."
Paul sighed. "Ms. Wright, it's not about whether you admit it or not."
The evidence was clear. If Silvercrest Group sued her, it would be a sure win.
Sharon was silent for a few seconds, then said softly, "Give me three days."
"I need to consult the board. The company has invested billions in this asthma medication, and the board takes this data leak very seriously. I can't make this decision alone."
Sharon nodded. "Alright, I understand. Thank you, Mr. Harris."
After Paul and the others left, Ashley quickly walked over to Sharon. "Sharon, I believe you didn't do this. Think carefully, did anyone touch your computer last week?"
Sharon lowered her eyes. To schedule that email at 1:30 PM, either someone controlled her computer, or they used it while she was napping.
She was a light sleeper, so she could rule out someone using her computer while she napped.
If someone wanted to control her computer, they must have used it before or known her password.
While she was doing experiments, Silvercrest Group employees would occasionally check on the progress and data, sometimes using her computer.
After mentally eliminating possibilities, Sharon identified a few people who had the opportunity to tamper with her computer.
Ten minutes later, Paul walked into the conference room.
"Ms. Wright, Mr. Smith wants to see you in his office."
"Okay, I understand."
When Sharon walked into Seb's office, he had just finished reading a document. Hearing the door open, he didn't look up and said, "Sit on the couch for a bit."
After signing the contract, Seb put down his pen and walked over to Sharon.
"I heard the data leak email was sent from your computer?"
Sensing the pressure from Seb, Sharon looked him in the eyes and nodded. "Yes."
"Got any thoughts on this? Any suspects?"
Sharon was taken aback and bit her lip unconsciously. "Do you believe it wasn't me?"
"I believe the evidence, but I don't think you'd be stupid enough to send data to someone else using your work computer."
Facing Seb's dark eyes, Sharon's previously chaotic mind gradually calmed down, and her anxiety eased significantly.
"Yes, I have a few suspects."
After Sharon reported the names of those she suspected had the opportunity to tamper with her computer, Seb immediately had Paul call the tech department to check those people's computers.
Soon, the tech department reported back that there was nothing unusual on those employees' computers, and no software capable of controlling other computers had been installed.
Sharon's heart sank. 'Did I guess wrong?'
Seeing her pale face, Seb spoke softly, "Don't rush. Think carefully. Have you noticed anything unusual recently?"
Sharon shook her head. "No, and the email was scheduled during my nap. I'm a light sleeper; if someone touched my computer, I would have noticed..."
Before she could finish, Sharon's voice suddenly paused as she remembered something odd.
She usually napped for half an hour, but starting about two weeks ago, she only woke up after her alarm went off several times.
At the time, she thought she was just tired, but on a second thought, her sleep had been way too deep recently.
