Chapter 90 Did you have no feelings for me at all?

Sharon bit her lip and looked down. "Yes."

Alex caught a glimpse of Sharon's phone on the table and said calmly, "I believe you. I brought some ointment. Let me put it on for you."

Once Ava had the baby, he'd send her away for good. Then maybe he and Sharon could have a shot at fixing things.

He stepped closer, but Sharon backed away.

"No need. I can do it myself."

Seeing the distant look on Sharon's face, Alex hid his disappointment and forced a smile as he handed her the ointment.

"Okay. Use it now and before bed. It should help with the swelling by morning."

Sharon took the ointment without looking up. "Thanks."

"I'm your husband. It's my job to take care of you."

"I need to rest now."

"Alright, I'll be downstairs working."

As Alex turned to leave, he heard the door close behind him and a bitter smile crossed his lips.

Back at her vanity, Sharon tossed the ointment into the trash. The doctor had already given her some at the hospital.

When she was terrified and helpless, Alex wasn't there. He was with Ava for a prenatal checkup. She didn't need his belated care now.

Sharon hated Ava. But she knew if Alex hadn't given in to temptation, Ava wouldn't be pregnant, and she wouldn't have the nerve to provoke her.

Ava had her issues, but Alex's were bigger.

The next morning, Sharon went straight to the CEO's office to find Seb.

Seb's expression was cold. "What do you want?"

Sharon felt a pang of bitterness but kept her composure. "Mr. Smith, you saved me yesterday. I don't have much to offer, but I'd like to treat you to a meal."

"No, thanks. I would've saved anyone."

Seb's words made it clear Sharon was no different from anyone else.

Sharon nodded. "I know, but you're my savior, and I still want to repay you."

"Not showing up in front of me is the best repayment."

Seb picked up a document and started reading, his face expressionless.

Sharon was stunned, her fingers twisting together.

"Mr. Smith, I understand. I'll try not to bother you."

The document in Seb's hand crumpled slightly, but he smiled nonchalantly. "Then why don't you leave now? Waiting for an invitation?"

Sharon's face went blank. After a few seconds, she looked up at him.

"I'll get back to work. Thanks for yesterday."

Seb didn't glance up, his focus on the document in his hand.

Sharon felt a tightness in her chest. She didn't want to stay and humiliate herself further, so she turned and left.

Once the office was quiet again, Seb threw the document onto the desk, his face filled with irritation and anger.

Last night, when Alex asked Sharon if she would fall in love with him, Seb had already guessed her answer.

But hearing it still sent a chill through his heart.

Since Sharon hated him so much and had no feelings for him, he wouldn't force it anymore.

There were plenty of women more beautiful and understanding than Sharon. He didn't need her.

Irritated, he took out a cigarette from the drawer, lit it, and sent a message in a three-person Facebook group.

Seb: [Have a drink tonight.]

Matthew: [What?]

Victor: [We've been asking you out, and you never came. Why so eager today? Did you get dumped?]

Seb: [Shut up!]

Victor: [Alright, alright. I won't say anything. There's a new bar that just opened. I'll book a private room.]

Seb didn't reply.

Meanwhile, as soon as Sharon returned to the lab, Ashley approached her.

"Sharon, why are you so late today? What happened to your hand? Did you cut it during an experiment?"

Sharon didn't want too many people to know what happened yesterday, so she nodded. "Yes."

"Then I'll handle the operations for now, and you can guide from the back."

"It's fine. I can still do experiments."

After a brief greeting, they started the morning's experiment.

Soon, the morning had passed.

Sharon took off her protective goggles and gloves, ready for lunch, when Ashley suddenly stared at her phone and said, "Sharon, my friend told me several companies have recently terminated their cooperation with Silvercrest Group. Even the company she works for has ended their contract. Is Silvercrest Group in trouble?"

Hearing this, Sharon felt a sense of foreboding and frowned. "Which companies specifically?"

Ashley listed several companies, all of which had deep collaborations with BioTech Innovations Group and the Young group.

It seemed Daniel and the Young family didn't wait for her to apologize and started taking action against Silvercrest Group.

Sharon felt worried. She wanted to ask Seb, but as soon as she opened their chat, she remembered he had told her not to appear in front of him this morning, and she hesitated.

After a few seconds, she exited Facebook.

'Forget it. Going to Seb now would only annoy him.'

In the BioTech Innovations Group CEO's office, Emily sat on a black leather sofa, looking at Daniel with admiration. "Daniel, you're amazing. You got so many companies to terminate their contracts with Silvercrest Group so quickly. Seb must be having a hard time now."

She didn't believe that with so many companies pulling out, the Smith family could keep Sharon hidden without making her apologize.

Daniel glanced at his phone and responded absentmindedly.

He had coordinated with those companies to terminate their contracts with Silvercrest Group mainly to prepare for taking over their market share.

The Smith family had dominated Metropolis for so long; it was time for others to get a piece of the pie.

Emily's issue only sped up his and the Young group's plans for next month. It had little to do with Emily herself.

If BioTech Innovations Group and the Young group didn't have the capability to compete with the Smith family, the Young family would have been the ones apologizing to the Smith family for Emily's incident.

"Daniel, won't Ms. Lee be angry with you for helping me like this? She misunderstood us last time. Should I go explain it to her?"

Daniel frowned, remembering how Sophie had scolded him over the phone when he asked if she had coaxed Sharon to humiliate Emily. His face darkened.

He had been busy with company matters these past few days and hadn't contacted Sophie. He didn't expect Sophie not to contact him either.

Thinking of this, Daniel's face grew even darker.

Seeing that mentioning Sophie seemed to displease Daniel, Emily quickly said, "Daniel, I'm sorry. Do you not want to talk about Ms. Lee? I..."

Before she could finish, Daniel interrupted her, "Alright, I have work to do. You should go."

Emily bit her lip, feeling a bit dissatisfied, but she knew that Daniel was no longer the eighteen-year-old boy who would worry a lot when she frowned. She didn't dare to act willfully anymore.

Forcing a smile, she stood up and said, "Okay, there's a new French restaurant that's really good. Let's go there when you're done with work."

"Okay."

After Emily left, Daniel frowned, holding his phone for a while before finally dialing Sophie's number.

Soon, he heard a busy tone, and his face turned completely dark.

"Sharon, Sharon?"

Sharon snapped back to reality and looked at Ashley, who was staring at her curiously. "Sorry, what did you just say?"

"Sharon, do you have something on your mind? You've been zoning out several times."

Sharon lowered her eyes, stayed silent for a few seconds, then suddenly stood up. "Ashley, I just remembered I have something to do. After lunch, you go back to the lab first."

Without giving Ashley a chance to respond, Sharon picked up her tray and left.

After returning her tray, she took the elevator to the top floor.

Seeing Sharon, Paul frowned and stood up to stop her. "Ms. Wright, Mr. Smith is resting. If you have something to discuss, please come back in the afternoon."

"No need. I'll wait here."

"Do you have something important to discuss with the CEO?"

Although Paul didn't like Sharon because of what happened at the hospital last time, he was also worried that she might have something urgent. If delayed, Seb would be angry.

Sharon shook her head. "It's not that important. I'll wait for him to wake up."

She then found a chair and sat down.

After hesitating for a moment, Paul decided not to disturb Seb. Letting Sharon wait wouldn't cause any harm.

She waited for over an hour.

When the afternoon work hours began and Paul saw that Sharon was still there, he went to inform Seb in the office.

Soon, Paul informed Sharon that she could go in.

In the office, Seb was reading a document. Without looking up at the sound of footsteps, he said, "What do you want?"

"Mr. Smith, I know you don't want to see me. I'll leave after I say what I need to say. I heard that several companies with deep collaborations with BioTech Innovations Group and the Young group have terminated their contracts with Silvercrest Group. If necessary, I can go apologize to Emily."

Seb looked up at her. "Why do you suddenly want to apologize to Emily? Do you think you were wrong that day?"

Sharon took a deep breath, looking at him seriously. "I don't think I was wrong. I just don't want to drag you down anymore."

"Why?"

Meeting Seb's cold gaze, Sharon instinctively looked away. "Because you helped me that day, and I'm very grateful. So, I don't want to affect Silvercrest Group because of me."

Seb put down the document and leaned back in his chair, exuding an elegant and noble demeanor that made it hard to look away.

"Are you really afraid of affecting Silvercrest Group, or have you fallen for me?"

Sharon was stunned, instinctively denying, "Mr. Smith, you're overthinking it. I..."

Before she could finish, Seb interrupted her unhurriedly, "A few days ago, BioTech Innovations Group and the Young group also terminated their contracts with the Smith group. I remember you didn't plan to apologize then, nor did you use this excuse. Do you really have no feelings for me?"

His dark eyes fixed on her, demanding an answer.

Sharon wanted to run away, but her feet felt like they were glued to the ground, unable to move an inch.
