Chapter 262 Probably Takes After Seb
Paul blurted out, "Yo, Mr. Seb Smith."
Seb spun around, and Paul just froze in his tracks.
He could tell Seb's look was totally different from after Sharon's accident. Now, Seb's eyes were all cold and distant, just like the old ruthless Seb.
Guess Tyler's hypnosis thing worked.
"What do you want?" Seb asked.
Tyler, sitting across from Seb, shot Paul a look, ready to handle him if he said anything stupid in front of Seb.
Paul stood there, eyes down, not saying a word for a bit.
Compared to the zombie-like Seb after Sharon's accident, Paul thought this Seb was way better.
Maybe forgetting was the best move for those still kicking.
Seeing Paul stay quiet, Seb's brows knitted together.
Next to him, Tyler's face was dark as night. He signaled the butler, ready to have Paul dragged out if he mentioned Sharon.
Paul finally looked up at Seb and said calmly, "Mr. Seb Smith, just a heads-up, there's a big meeting at three this afternoon."
"Got it. Wait outside. We'll head back to the office in ten."
Paul nodded, "Sure thing, Mr. Seb Smith."
After Paul left, Seb turned to Tyler. "I'll think about your offer to take over the Smith Group, but Silvercrest Group is my top priority."
Tyler nodded. "Alright, mull it over."
Seb stood up, "I'm heading back now."
They walked out of the Smith Mansion. Once Seb got in the car, he looked at Paul and asked coldly, "While I was out from the car accident, did anything major happen at the group?"
Just as Paul left the Smith Mansion, he was told Tyler's cover story for Seb's memory loss was a car accident and coma, and that he just woke up yesterday. Paul was told to keep his mouth shut.
Paul paused for a few seconds before saying, "Everything's been running smoothly, nothing big."
"Got it." Seb said coldly, leaning back in his seat to rest.
Seeing Seb back to his old self, Paul felt like he was in a dream.
Nothing had changed, except no one would ever mention Sharon in front of Seb again, and Seb would never remember he once loved her.
Five years later.
At the Aidamore International Conference Center, in Hall 1, Sharon Roach, rocking a light green suit and slightly curled long hair, stood on stage with a mic, smiling as she talked about her research achievements.
The hall was packed, with the front rows filled with top pharmaceutical experts from all over.
After Sharon finished her presentation, the audience burst into applause.
Stepping off the stage, Sharon checked the time and quickly packed her stuff.
"Donna, I gotta pick up Demetrius later, so I might miss the celebration dinner tonight. Can you tell Mr. Mcpherson for me?"
Donna looked at her, exasperated, saying, "Tonight's dinner is mainly to celebrate your breakthrough with the Alzheimer's drug. You're the star, and Mr. Mcpherson said a big investor will be there. You know the drug best. You really shouldn't miss it."
"You were part of the development too, so you can explain it just fine. Plus, you know I hate these events. I'm out of time, gotta go. Bye!"
Before Donna could get a word in, Sharon was already out the door.
Watching Sharon rush off, Donna just sighed.
It took about an hour to get from the conference center to the kindergarten, and it was already pushing 4:30 PM. Sharon hit the elevator button and fished through her bag for her phone and car keys.
When the elevator doors opened, Sharon, head down, walked in without noticing Seb, all suited up, stepping out.
Bam! She bumped right into him and quickly apologized, "Sorry, my bad."
With her head down, she didn't see Seb's face, just noticed he was super tall. Even in heels, she barely reached his shoulder.
Seb didn't say a word and just walked past her.
Sharon shrugged it off, got in the elevator, hit B1, and finally found her keys and phone.
As she looked up, the elevator doors closed, and she caught a glimpse of Seb's back.
He was rocking a sharp black suit, broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long, straight legs. Even from behind, Seb had this vibe that screamed "keep your distance."
Sharon looked away, pulled out her phone, and started searching for Bessie Kramer's contact, the kindergarten teacher.
So, she missed Seb turning around and frowning at the elevator after the doors shut.
Sharon got to the kindergarten, and it was almost six.
Meanwhile, Demetrius Roach was sitting quietly, practicing his writing. Even at just over four years old, he looked and acted like a mini Seb.
Sometimes, looking at him, Sharon would get a bit lost in thought.
Bessie saw her and stood up, "Hey, Sharon, you're here."
Sharon walked into the classroom, smiling at Bessie, "Ms. Kramer, sorry for keeping you."
"No worries, Demetrius is a breeze to look after."
After some small talk with Bessie, Demetrius had already packed his stuff and stood obediently next to Sharon.
Sharon smiled, "Demetrius, say goodbye to Ms. Kramer."
Demetrius looked up at Bessie, waving his hand. "Goodbye, Ms. Kramer."
Even at four, Demetrius had this calm, grown-up vibe.
Bessie nodded, "Alright, see you tomorrow, Demetrius."
Sharon held Demetrius's hand as they walked out of the kindergarten. Demetrius opened the back door himself, climbed into his child seat, and buckled up.
Seeing how mature Demetrius was, Sharon felt a pang of guilt.
Over the past few years, she’d been swamped with work, sometimes even on weekends, leaving little time for Demetrius.
And at an age when most kids were all about play, Demetrius never acted spoiled or demanded anything from her.
She once worried something might be off with Demetrius and took him to the hospital for a check-up. The doc said he was perfectly fine, just naturally like that.
After confirming he was okay, Sharon finally relaxed. She figured Demetrius's personality was probably inherited from Seb.
Back home, just as Sharon finished making dinner, she got a call from Donna.
Donna said, "Sharon, Mr. Mcpherson just told me you have to be at the celebration dinner. The investor's arriving soon, and he wants to talk to the main person in charge of the project. His investment is crucial for us to get the supplies we need for our research! You need to get here now!"
