Chapter 603 If You Keep This Up, I Might Really Fall for You

"Fine, Randy, don't regret this!"

Delbert slammed the phone down, his frustration palpable.

Randy set his phone aside and left the office, his mind elsewhere.

Back in the hospital room, Electra's eyes were filled with hope. "Delbert, did Randy Smith say he'd come?"

Delbert couldn't meet her gaze. He pressed his lips together and looked away.

"Electra, Randy's swamped with work right now. He can't make it, but he promised to visit in a few days..."

"Don't lie to me."

Electra cut him off, her voice tinged with bitterness. "He's not busy. He just doesn't want to come, right?"

"Electra..." Delbert moved closer to the bed, wanting to comfort her but unsure how.

"Delbert, I need some time alone, okay?"

Seeing her sadness, Delbert's heart ached.

It was unfair to Electra. She got hurt saving Randy, but since she was hospitalized, Randy had only sent his assistant to cover the medical bills and drop off some supplements. He hadn't visited once.

Even a casual friend wouldn't be this indifferent, let alone someone with years of history together.

The more Delbert thought about it, the angrier he got.

Taking a deep breath, he looked at Electra and said, "Electra, don't worry. I'll make sure Randy comes to see you!"

With that, Delbert left the room.

Outside, he dialed a number and spoke coldly, "I need you to do something for me."

After Delbert left, Electra picked up her phone and opened her chat with Randy.

Their conversation had stopped over a week ago when she asked if he could visit her. Randy hadn't replied.

Looking through their chat history, it was mostly her talking and Randy giving brief, dismissive responses.

Electra had fallen for Randy at first sight and stayed by his side as a friend for many years.

She knew Randy only saw her as a friend, so she never dared to confess her feelings.

Electra knew that if she confessed, they might not even remain friends.

She thought she could stay by his side as a friend forever, but then Randy fell for another woman.

Electra knew Randy liked Sophie and had been pursuing her, but Sophie ignored him. Electra thought she might still have a chance.

But she never expected Sophie to end up with Randy.

Electra was consumed with jealousy and hated Sophie, wishing she would disappear from the world.

That way, no one would take Randy from her.

Clutching her phone tightly, Electra's expression turned dark.

She would never let Sophie stay with Randy!

Sophie and Saul finished their tour of the university and parted ways at the entrance.

As Sophie turned to leave, Saul called out, "Sophie, wait a minute."

Sophie turned back, puzzled, and saw Saul's cautious expression. She couldn't help but smile. "What's up, Saul?"

Saul seemed nervous, clenching his hands. After taking a deep breath, he asked, "Sophie, can I hug you?"

He couldn't even look her in the eye, his earlobes turning red.

Sophie was taken aback but then laughed and walked towards him.

As she got closer, Saul caught the scent of gardenias from her.

He was enveloped by the fragrance.

When Sophie placed her hands on his waist, Saul stiffened as if struck by lightning.

Sophie quickly let go and smiled. "Thanks for dinner and the campus tour tonight. Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

As Sophie left, the gardenia scent around Saul faded, leaving him with an inexplicable sense of loss.

It wasn't until Sophie's car disappeared from view that Saul snapped out of it and headed back to his dorm.

Just as he reached the dorm, his phone rang.

Seeing Electra's name on the screen, Saul lowered his gaze and stepped aside to answer.

"What is it?"

"Nothing much, just wanted to check on your progress with Sophie."

"Same as before. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up."

A cold laugh came from the other end. "Saul, if you want me to keep paying your mom's medical bills, you'd better do as I say. Otherwise, you'll be planning her funeral."

Saul gripped his phone tightly, taking several seconds to suppress his emotions.

"Got it. I'll do as you say."

"In a month, I want to hear that you're with Sophie."

Without giving Saul a chance to respond, Electra hung up.

Saul's hand slowly dropped. After composing himself, he stepped out of the shadows and walked into the dorm.

When Sophie got home, she saw Randy's car parked outside again and frowned.

Getting out of her car, she walked up to Randy. "Randy, what are you doing here?"

Before she could finish, Randy pulled her into a hug.

Sophie was stunned, then angrily said, "Let go of me!"

"Sophie, for this month, can you not see other men or let them get close to you? I can't take it."

Sophie quickly realized what was happening and coldly said, "Randy, are you having me followed?"

Otherwise, how would he know she had dinner with Saul at Serenity University tonight and be waiting at her house to say this?

"I just wanted to make sure you're safe. I wasn't spying on you and Saul. Otherwise, I would've gone to Serenity University instead of waiting here."

As he spoke, Randy's grip tightened, as if trying to merge her into himself.

"Let go! You're hurting me!"

Randy's grip loosened instinctively, and Sophie took the opportunity to push him away, sneering. "How is this different from spying? Randy, who I see and what I do is none of your business. If you keep this up, our one-month agreement is off, and you won't get another chance!"

"Sophie, I can't stand seeing you smile at other men or fall in love with someone else. It's too cruel for me. Just wait for me for a month, okay? After that, let's give ourselves a fresh start."

Seeing Randy's red eyes, Sophie clenched her bag strap and looked away, unwilling to meet his gaze.

"Randy, you have no right to ask me for anything, and I have no obligation to wait for you."

In her mind, Randy couldn't go a month without seeing Electra.

Even when he promised her before, he secretly met with Electra behind her back.

She no longer trusted Randy.

"Sophie."

Randy reached out to grab Sophie, but she dodged.

"As for what happens between us next, let's see if you can keep our bet first."

The next morning, Sophie had just finished getting ready when she received a message from Saul.

Saul: Good morning, Sophie! Are you up? The weather's nice today. Want to hang out?

Sophie: No, I have plans today.

Saul: Okay.

Seeing Saul's sighing emoji, Sophie couldn't help but smile.

Thinking about their campus tour last night, she remembered his worn-out shoes and her smile faded.

After a moment's thought, she messaged Saul, asking if he was free to go shopping with her.

Saul quickly replied with a yes, and they agreed to meet at Serenity University in an hour.

An hour later, Sophie picked up Saul and drove to the mall.

"Sophie, why the sudden shopping trip? Are you buying something specific?"

Sophie nodded. "Yes, a friend of mine is pregnant. I'm getting a gift for her and the baby."

"I see."

They chatted casually, and half an hour later, Sophie's car pulled into the mall's underground parking.

Getting out, Sophie led Saul to the second-floor clothing section.

As they entered the mall, Saul noticed people giving him odd looks.

He'd seen those looks before—disdainful but trying to hide it, as if showing it would lower their status.

He used to hate those looks, but now...

He followed Sophie, lowering his head and speaking cautiously. "Sophie, maybe I should wait in the parking lot?"

Sophie turned to him. "Why?"

Saul looked uncomfortable. "I feel like walking with you will embarrass you."

Seeing the unease in his eyes, Sophie frowned and linked her arm with his.

"You haven't stolen or robbed anyone. What's there to be embarrassed about?"

Sophie looked at Saul with genuine warmth.

Saul's heart felt a light, ticklish sensation, something he'd never felt before.

"Sophie, if you keep this up, I might really fall for you."

Sophie smiled. "That would be great. I'm quite lovable, you know. Come on, I have a lot to buy today."

Saul let her pull him along, watching her profile and feeling a faint flutter in his chest.

He lowered his gaze, pushing away his chaotic thoughts.

If Sophie found out he approached her on purpose, she would never forgive him.

Some feelings and desires were forbidden from the start.

Saul's hand tightened, his eyes growing cold.

Sophie led Saul into a men's clothing store and picked out several casual outfits for him to try on. "Go try these on."

Looking at the clothes, Saul shook his head. "Sophie, I don't need these."

"Who said they're for you? A friend's birthday is coming up, and you're about his size, so I need you to try them on."

Saul's disappointment flashed briefly, then he forced a smile. "Got it."
