Chapter 184 Help Me Beg My Uncle Seb
Grace gave a bitter smile. "I've got less than three months left. No point in fighting over this. In three months, I'll give Seb back to her."
Victor grabbed her hand, his voice deep. "Grace, don't say that. Seb's invested in Donna's research, and the drug's almost ready. You'll get better!"
Grace's eyes showed her doubt. "The drug's still experimental. No one can guarantee it'll work, and it might have side effects."
Seeing her so down, Victor's heart ached. "Grace, you used to be so optimistic. Now you're so pessimistic, it's not like you. You should be strong, not defeated by illness. I believe the drug will work!"
Grace lowered her eyes. "I want to be strong, but I can't. And Seb doesn't love me anymore. He agreed to get back together out of guilt. Even if I get better, he won't love me again. There's no point in living."
Victor's eyes turned cold. "As long as you get better, I'll help you. I won't let anyone stop you from being with Seb!"
That "anyone" was clearly Sharon.
Seeing the determination in Victor's eyes, Grace was surprised. "Really?"
"Yes."
If Sharon tried to stop Grace from being with Seb, Victor wouldn't hesitate to deal with Sharon himself.
"Victor, thank you!"
Grace hugged Victor tightly, her body trembling with excitement.
Victor's body stiffened, but he gently patted her back after a while.
Feeling Grace so close, Victor felt both sweet and painful.
He wanted to hold Grace, but he couldn't.
Because Grace was Seb's girlfriend, and she didn't love him.
On the way to the restaurant, Donna asked Sharon, "Sharon, why did Miss Hall act so weird towards you? Did you two have a conflict?"
Sharon's expression was calm. "No, it's just that I work at Mr. Smith's company now."
Donna looked surprised. "You never mentioned that. But Mr. Smith is really capable. He built Silvercrest Group into a big corporation. He's also very handsome. It's a pity he has a girlfriend. But even if he didn't, we wouldn't have a shot."
Donna kept talking, not noticing Sharon's grip on the steering wheel tightening.
Yes, it was obvious, but she only realized it now.
Stopping at a red light, Sharon turned to Donna. "Donna, let's stop talking about them. Tell me about your life doing experiments these past few years. I'm more interested in that."
Donna smiled. "Sure. My life these past few years has been the same as in college. Just classes, meals, the lab, and sleeping in the dorm. But doing experiments is much harder than in college. Mistakes happen often."
Sharon listened attentively, occasionally asking Donna questions.
After lunch, it was already 2 PM. Donna had a flight back to Aidamore at 8 PM and needed to pack. Sharon drove her back to the hotel.
As she got out of the car, Donna couldn't help but ask the question that had been on her mind.
"Sharon, have you thought about what I mentioned before?"
Sharon nodded. "Yeah, I'm planning to take the GRE for grad school."
Donna was surprised but smiled. "I'll be waiting for you in Aidamore."
"Okay."
After Donna went into the hotel, Sharon drove off.
Halfway home, her phone rang.
Seeing it was an unknown number, Sharon didn't answer.
The caller didn't try again but sent a text instead.
It wasn't until she parked that Sharon saw the message.
[Ms. Wright, my father was one of the victims of the Robert Pharmaceuticals incident six years ago. I saw the news about you finding evidence and getting David arrested. I have some evidence too and want to give it to you. If you see this message, please contact me.]
Reading the message, Sharon's fingers tightened slightly, but she didn't rush to reply.
David had been in for a while, and this person was only contacting her now. It felt a bit strange.
After thinking for a moment, Sharon decided to ignore it for now. If it was urgent, they'd contact her again.
No matter what, it wouldn't hurt to be cautious.
Sharon spent the rest of the weekend studying at home. Leo sent her several messages inviting her to dinner, which she replied to at first but later ignored.
On Monday morning, as Sharon was heading downstairs, she saw Leo waiting by the elevator.
She greeted him indifferently and was about to leave.
Leo stepped in front of her. "Sharon, am I bothering you?"
Knowing he meant her not replying to his messages, Sharon nodded. "A bit."
Leo was taken aback, then his eyes filled with indulgence and helplessness. "I understand. I won't bother you anymore."
"Thank you."
Expressionless, Sharon said that and turned to leave.
After she drove away, Leo made a call, his voice as gentle as ever, "How's the task I gave you?"
A rough, low voice came from the other end, "I called her, but she didn't answer. Then I sent a text, but she hasn't replied yet."
Leo narrowed his eyes. "Keep trying to contact her. Once this is over, I'll send your daughter abroad for treatment."
Hanging up, Leo put away his phone, a smile slowly forming on his lips.
On the way to the company, Sharon got a call from Sophie.
"Sharon, you won't believe this!"
Intrigued by her tone, Sharon raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"
"After taking over David's company, Alex tricked several company heads into signing contracts. They thought they were signing with Silvercrest Group, but it was actually Alex's small company. Now they've realized something's wrong and are threatening to sue him."
Sharon frowned. "Were those company leaders so stupid they didn't notice the contracting parties?"
"Alex forged the contracts. The signing entity was Silvercrest Group, but the actual contacts were from his company."
"Isn't Alex afraid of getting caught?"
Sharon was surprised Alex dared to do such a thing.
"He probably didn't expect to get caught. Now who knows how this will end. I'll let you know if I hear anything new."
Sharon wasn't concerned about Alex, as he no longer had anything to do with her.
But she didn't expect Alex to come looking for her.
"Sharon, c'mon, for old times' sake, can you ask Uncle Seb to help me this once?"
