Chapter 352 It's Better to Be a Bit More Frugal
Victor's face turned beet red, veins popping on his forehead. He balled up his fist and hit Grace hard.
Even though the pain was unbearable, Grace didn't scream or beg. Instead, she started laughing like a maniac.
She laughed at herself and at Victor, seeing them as two miserable souls, hurting and hating each other but unable to let go.
Grace had resigned herself to this pathetic life, but after discovering that Sharon was still alive, she changed her mind.
Even if it meant her own death, Grace was hell-bent on dragging those who hurt her down with her!
Early the next morning, Sharon got up, washed up, and started making breakfast for Demetrius. By 7:30, Demetrius was up too.
After brushing his teeth and getting dressed, Demetrius walked out of his room.
Seeing Sharon setting the table, he grinned and said, "Morning, Mom! What smells so good?"
"I made sandwiches, fried eggs, and mashed potatoes," Sharon replied.
"Yum! I love fried eggs! Thanks, Mom!" Demetrius said excitedly.
He sat down, eyes lighting up at the sight of the food.
"Dig in," Sharon said.
"Okay," Demetrius said, taking a big bite of the fried egg. "So good!"
Seeing him with oil all over his mouth, Sharon chuckled. She wiped his mouth with a napkin and said, "Hey, there's something I want to talk to you about."
"What's up, Mom?" Demetrius asked.
"Remember you told your dad you wanted to go to the zoo this weekend? Mr. Cook wants to come too. Do you mind? If you do, I'll tell him, and next time it'll just be the three of us," Sharon explained.
Demetrius took another bite of his omelette, reflecting on his previous notion of bringing the three of them together, and shook his head, saying, "I don't mind. I like Mr. Cook! Let's have him come!"
'If Zachary comes, Mom can bond with both Dad and Zachary. It's a win-win,' Demetrius thought happily.
The more he thought about it, the smarter he felt. He decided to always invite Zachary in the future.
Seeing he was cool with it, Sharon nodded. "Alright, I'll let Mr. Cook know."
After breakfast, Sharon headed to work, leaving the nanny to look after Demetrius.
On her way to Silvercrest Group, she called Zachary to tell him Demetrius was cool with him coming.
Zachary smiled and said, "Great, I'll come over Saturday morning, and we can head to the zoo together."
"Okay, what time? If you come early, I'll make breakfast for you too," Sharon offered.
"Around eight," Zachary replied.
"Sounds good," Sharon agreed.
After hanging up, Sharon wondered if she should tell Seb that Zachary was coming too.
After thinking it over, she decided to let Seb know.
As soon as she sent the message, Seb called.
"Why is Mr. Cook coming too? It's not right to bring an outsider when you and I are taking Demetrius to the zoo," Seb said, sounding annoyed.
Sharon felt a sting hearing Seb call Zachary an outsider.
To her and Demetrius, Zachary was anything but an outsider.
"Zachary wants to spend time with Demetrius, and I asked Demetrius this morning. He wants Zachary to come too," Sharon explained.
"Are you sure Demetrius wants him there?" Seb asked, sounding pissed.
Sharon frowned and replied firmly, "I'm sure. I asked him."
There was a pause on the other end before Seb's voice came through, low and resigned, "If Demetrius is okay with it, I won't object."
Then he hung up.
In his study, Seb put down his phone, his face dark with frustration.
He couldn't wrap his head around why Zachary had to tag along when he, Sharon, and Demetrius were supposed to have a family day at the zoo.
Frowning, Seb dialed Paul's number, "Is the Cook Group too idle lately? Stir up some activity for Zachary, making it imperative for him to return to Aidamore in the next few days. I don't want him hanging around Metropolis."
Paul was confused. "Mr. Smith, did Mr. Cook do something to upset you?"
"Just do it. Why all the questions?" Seb snapped.
Paul sighed, "Alright, I got it."
After hanging up, Paul looked at Rufus, who was standing in front of him.
"Take this document to the Smith Group and hand it to Mr. Randy Smith," Paul instructed.
Rufus took the document with a smug grin, "Got it, I'll make sure it gets done."
Since Paul came back, Seb had stopped ordering Rufus around, which was a relief for Rufus because he no longer got those late-night calls from Seb.
Despite the good pay, Rufus preferred to avoid those middle-of-the-night calls if he could.
In the general manager's office at the Smith Group, Randy was reading a document when there was a knock on the door, and the secretary walked in with a file.
"Mr. Smith, this is a document from Mr. Warren of the Silvercrest Group," the secretary said.
Randy immediately put down his document. "Hand it over."
He opened the file, read it for a bit, and then looked at the secretary. "Set up a lunch meeting with Mr. Graves of the Synergy Innovations Group at Celestial Peak Hotel to discuss our recent collaboration."
"Will do," the secretary replied.
After the secretary left, Randy finished reading the document Rufus had delivered and got a rough idea of the bottom line for the noon negotiation.
Soon it was noon. As Randy stepped into Celestial Peak Hotel, he noticed Sophie sitting by the window.
Sophie was dressed elegantly today, with a wig and light makeup, looking as pure and innocent as a flower.
She was sipping coffee, her eyes downcast and filled with impatience.
However, Francis Reyes, sitting across from Sophie, didn't notice her mood at all and kept talking.
"Ms. Lee, excuse me, but I must state that your outfit and that bag must be worth at least a hundred grand today. As a girl, it's better to be a bit more frugal. My family is wealthy, but you can't spend money like this after we get married," Francis said.
Sophie smiled, but inside she was fuming.
She thought, 'He has the nerve to criticize me when his outfit isn't cheap either? So it's okay for him to spend money, but it's wasteful for me? How ridiculous!'
Sophie put down her coffee and tapped her fingers on the table, "Mr. Reyes, is the Reyes Group facing any financial issues lately?"
Francis was taken aback and then frowned. "No, why do you ask?"
"Then why are you so concerned about what your date is wearing? I thought your company was in trouble," Sophie replied.
"Ms. Lee, to be honest, you're very beautiful, but a woman can't rely on beauty alone," Francis said.
Sophie laughed in anger. "How do you know I only have beauty?"
They had only met once, but he was already trying to control her. She thought he was not only tactless but also stingy and unattractive!
Francis frowned. "Ms. Lee, I don't like women who are too aggressive."
