Chapter 543 A Tough Challenge
Garry's face darkened as he spoke in a low voice, "I'm heading over now. Get the tech team on it, pronto!"
Over an hour later, Garry arrived at the company.
Damon was in his office, fuming, and barking orders at the tech team to fix the issue within half an hour.
The secretary, visibly nervous, turned to leave and spotted Garry. She quickly greeted him, "Mr. Garry, you're here."
Garry nodded, "Yeah, you can get back to work."
After the secretary left, Garry walked into the office and closed the door.
"What the hell is going on? A firewall issue, and it's still not fixed?"
Damon's face was still flushed with anger. "Yeah, a bunch of useless idiots. They get paid so much, but when it counts, they're completely useless!"
Garry sat down on the couch, his expression stern. "If the tech team hasn't fixed the problem in half an hour, I'll figure something out."
Damon sat across from him, running his hands through his hair in frustration. "What can you do? I don't even know what's going on. The firewall has always been fine, but today it got attacked out of nowhere. Could it have something to do with that sudden transfer of a hundred million dollars into our account?"
"Forget about the money for now. Go to the tech department and find out if they can fix the firewall issue. Once you know, come back and tell me immediately!"
Seeing Garry's icy expression, Damon didn't dare say more.
"Alright, I'll go right away."
About ten minutes later, Damon returned.
His face was grim. "Grandpa, I asked the tech department head. He said it would take at least a day and a night to fix the firewall."
"A day and a night? By the time they fix it, the company will be ruined!"
"I don't know what to do. I don't understand tech stuff."
"Got it. You can leave. I'll figure something out."
"Okay."
As Damon walked out of the office, it suddenly hit him. What difference did it make if he was in the office or not? Did Garry think he was useless and just didn't want him around?
Inside the office, Garry had already dialed Jesse's number. "Was it you who attacked our company's firewall?"
Jesse chuckled. "I didn't expect the Bridges Group's firewall to be so weak. Mr. Bridges, you called me sooner than I anticipated."
"What do you want?"
"I just wanted to show Mr. Bridges my capabilities and make it clear that taking down the Bridges Group would be a piece of cake for me. But I'm genuinely interested in collaborating with you."
Garry took a deep breath and said slowly, "You want the Bridges Group to be your pawn against the Silvercrest Group, right? I can agree to that, but you have to promise that once it's over, you won't target the Bridges Group."
"Mr. Bridges, you can rest assured. Today's actions were just a way to get you to cooperate. It's not something I enjoy doing."
Garry's face was grim. "Come to the Bridges family tomorrow, and we'll talk in person."
"Mr. Bridges, I'm very busy. I don't have time. Meet me tonight at 8 PM in Suite 1 at the Sapphire Sky Hotel."
Before Garry could respond, the call was abruptly ended.
Garry's eyes flashed with anger, and he nearly threw his phone in frustration.
In all his years in business, this was the first time someone had threatened him like this!
Jesse!
He would remember that name!
Ten minutes later, Damon burst into the office, looking thrilled.
"Grandpa, the hackers attacking our firewall are gone. The firewall is fixed, and the company is back to normal."
Garry's expression remained calm. "Got it. Go back to work."
Damon was taken aback. "Grandpa, why don't you seem surprised at all?"
"I'm just tired. I'm going home."
Seeing Garry get up to leave, Damon quickly stopped him. "Grandpa, since you're here, why not stay a bit longer? There are a few documents I don't understand. Can you help me?"
Garry looked at him and saw the earnest expression on Damon's face. He sat back down on the couch. "Bring them over."
An hour later, Garry's face was red with anger as he glared at Damon. "You're completely useless! I regret handing the company over to you. I should have given it to Ayla!"
Ayla might lack decisiveness, but at least she wouldn't make such basic mistakes as Damon.
Damon's face darkened. "Grandpa, Ayla has been with the company for years. I've only been here for a short time. Isn't it normal that I don't know everything yet? I'm trying to learn. You can't expect me to know everything right away."
Garry pointed at him, his head throbbing with anger. "If you don't know, learn from the other shareholders and the secretary! I've hired so many teachers for you over the years, and this is all you have to show for it? What a waste of money!"
"Grandpa, what's the point of saying this now? The important thing is to teach me how to read these contracts."
Garry took a deep breath and pointed to a section in the document. "There's a problem here. Mark it."
Damon nodded. "What's the problem?"
"Just mark it first. I'll explain it to you later."
Several of the documents Damon brought had the same issue, and this idiot Damon hadn't noticed any of them.
Thinking about handing the Bridges Group over to him, Garry felt the future of the company looked bleak.
But right now, there was no one else to take over the Bridges Group except Damon.
Should he call Ayla back from abroad?
If Ayla hadn't made so many foolish mistakes fighting with Sharon, he wouldn't have had to train Damon.
But a fool is a fool. Even with training, he's just a fool with a decent appearance.
Seb's mansion
Demetrius had just finished his shower and was about to lie down when he received a call from Alton.
"Demetrius, are you asleep?"
Hearing Alton's voice, Demetrius's face lit up with joy. "Mr. Roach, I was just about to sleep. What's up?"
"Do you have time this Saturday? I want to take you out."
Demetrius was initially excited, but then his face fell. "Mr. Roach, I don't think I can go. My mom said I shouldn't spend too much time with you."
He wanted to go out with Alton but didn't want to upset his mom.
"Demetrius, just tell me if you want to go. I'll talk to your mom."
"No, Mr. Roach. My mom doesn't like you very much right now, and she definitely won't agree."
"Alright, then. Get some rest."
"Okay, Mr. Roach. Goodnight."
After hanging up, Alton placed his phone on the table, pondering how to get Sharon to slowly accept him as part of the family.
Carolyn had really given him a tough challenge!
