Chapter 107 Absolutely Won't Forgive Her So Easily!
Seb's eyes darkened. "Not yet. The hotel's surveillance was trashed. Paul's checking the area. For now, just get some rest. We'll talk later."
"I get it. Thanks, Uncle Seb."
"You're welcome. Might not be the best time, but happy birthday."
Sharon paused, then softly replied, "Thank you."
If Sophie dind't wake up, future birthdays wouldn't mean much.
"Go rest," said Seb.
"Okay."
Sharon headed back to the bedroom. It matched the living room—black, white, and gray.
A faint, cool scent filled the room. She couldn't place it but liked it.
After a shower, she lay down. She thought she'd be up all night, but sleep came quickly.
What she didn't know was that after she fell asleep, a servant quietly entered and took a box of ointment from the bedside table.
After the servant left, the cool scent slowly faded.
Downstairs in the study, Seb was working when the servant knocked and entered.
"Mr. Seb, Ms. Wright is asleep."
Seb nodded. "Alright, you should rest too."
"Okay. Don't stay up too late; work will always be there."
"I see."
Seeing his attention still on the documents, the servant sighed and left.
The next morning, Sharon woke up around eight.
She was surprised. She usually had trouble sleeping in new places, but she slept soundly here.
After washing up, Sharon went downstairs. Breakfast had been set, and Seb was reading the news.
"Morning, Uncle Seb."
"Morning. How'd you sleep?" Seb put down the tablet.
"Pretty well."
Seb nodded and started eating.
Sharon wanted to ask about Paul's progress but waited until they finished eating.
"Uncle Seb, any news on Sophie?"
"Still looking. No progress yet."
Disappointment flashed in Sharon's eyes. "Alright."
"I've arranged for you to have a few days off. Come back when you're ready."
Sharon shook her head. "No need, I can work."
Seb looked at her. "You're not going to the hospital?"
"Not much I can do there. I'll visit Sophie after work."
Seeing Sharon more stable than last night, he agreed that work might help keep her mind busy.
"Alright."
On the way to Silvercrest Group, Sharon asked Seb to drop her off a couple of blocks away so she could walk.
Seb didn't argue and had the driver pull over.
After thanking him, Sharon got out and walked to the company.
The black Maybach blended into traffic, disappearing from view.
Just as she reached the entrance, Sharon got a call from Alex.
"Sharon, where were you all night?!"
Alex hadn't expected a call from the servvant first thing, saying Sharon hadn't been away all night!
Since they got married, Sharon had always come home on time and never stayed out all night.
The more Alex thought about it, the uneasier he felt.
Sharon lowered her eyes and spoke calmly, "Alex, I'm an adult, not your slave. I don't need to report my whereabouts to you."
Alex let out a cold laugh. "Even if you don't tell me, I can find out. I'll give you two options: either tell me now, or if I find out you were with another man, your father's kidney transplant will be in jeopardy."
Sharon bit her lip hard, tasting blood but not letting go.
After a long pause, she asked coldly, "Alex, is this the only trick you know?"
"You forced me into this. I just want to know where you were last night, nothing more. Your refusal only makes me more suspicious."
Sharon took a deep breath and said slowly, "I stayed at your Uncle Seb's house last night."
The other end of the line fell into a suffocating silence.
Sharon could clearly hear Alex's heavy breathing. She continued, "Something happened to Sophie last night. I was very upset, and he probably didn't want me to go home and overthink, so..."
Alex sneered, "So he took you to his house. Alone in a house. Sharon, don't tell me that nothing happened between you two."
"There were servants at his house. We're not as shameless as you think!"
Alex didn't believe a word of it.
"Not as shameless as I think, so you just kissed and hugged but didn't go all the way, right?"
"Alex!"
Sharon's eyes flashed coldly, and her voice was filled with anger, "You don't know what happened last night. Sophie, she..."
Alex interrupted her, "Don't use Sophie as an excuse. Sharon, I told you before, this was your last chance, and you didn't cherish it!"
His voice was icy, and Sharon had a bad feeling. She quickly said, "If you don't believe me, I'll explain when you get back from your trip."
"No need to explain. I have a brain; I can judge for myself."
With that, Alex hung up the phone.
When Sharon tried to call back, Alex didn't answer.
She gripped her phone tightly, feeling her heart sink.
Taking a deep breath, Sharon quickly opened Facebook and sent Alex a message.
[I really just stayed at Uncle Seb's house last night. Nothing happened. If you don't believe me, you can call him right now.]
[And Sophie had prepared a surprise for me at the hotel last night, but when I got there, she fell from the building right in front of me. I was scared out of my mind, and Uncle Seb happened to be there to help me.]
[Please call me when you see this message. I'll explain everything, okay?]
Sharon sent several messages in a row, but there was no response from Alex.
Sharon wasn't afraid of Alex misunderstanding her; she was afraid that in a fit of anger, Alex would give Robert's kidney to someone else.
At this moment, Sharon's heart felt like it was being roasted over a fire. If she had known the servant would report to Alex, she would have gone home last night no matter what.
But it was too late to regret now.
After arguing with Sharon,Alex called Joseph in a fit of rage and told him to give the kidney to Ava's father.
Joseph hesitated, "Mr. Smith, if Mrs. Smith finds out about this, I'm afraid..."
Alex, consumed by anger, was beyond reasoning. "I found the kidney donor. I'll decide who gets it. Do as I say!"
"Yes, sir."
After hanging up, Alex was still fuming. He opened Facebook, saw Sharon's unread messages, and deleted the chat without even reading them.
This time, he wouldn't forgive Sharon so easily.
