Chapter 462 Are You Even a Man?

After getting hauled to the police station, Ariana knew the jig was up. She spilled everything.

She'd seen this coming a mile away.

She always felt like luck was never on her side.

Born into a poor family, she clawed her way into college and the lab on her own.

But then the Stout family showed up, demanding she pay off her brother's gambling debts. They wanted to drag her back to settle the score.

If it weren't for Kirk saving her a bunch of times, she'd probably be married off to some old widower in the village by now.

She sold the house Kirk left her, thinking she could start fresh somewhere no one knew her.

But it seemed like the universe had other plans.

She knew she was being selfish, but if the Stout family hadn't pushed her to the edge, she wouldn't have gone down this road.

After confessing, she looked at the cop and said, "I want to see someone."

When Sharon heard Ariana had been caught and wanted to see her, she stayed quiet for a long time before deciding not to go.

"I'm not going. Tell her not to mess up her life again."

"Ms. Roach, she also said if you don't want to see her, she asked us to apologize to you on her behalf."

"Thanks."

Sharon hung up the phone, took a deep breath, and got back to her experiment.

If Ariana had asked for her help earlier, maybe things would've been different.

But in the end, Ariana just wasn't strong enough and wanted to take shortcuts.

She forgot that shortcuts were usually full of thorns.

On the way home that evening, Seb noticed Sharon seemed a bit off.

He put down his papers, "Still thinking about Ariana?"

Sharon shook her head, "Just feeling a bit emotional. Back in Aidamore, she was the hardest worker in the lab. Every time I went in, she was there. Sometimes she'd stay for a month waiting for an experiment result."

"If she hadn't messed up, she could've had the life she wanted." She sighed, looking down.

Seb pulled her close and said softly, "Everyone's got their own journey, so they make different choices in the same situation. She just couldn't resist temptation. Don't dwell on it."

Back at the villa, Sharon walked into the living room and saw Sophie on the floor playing with Demetrius, while Randy sat on the couch watching them with a loving look.

Sharon was surprised. Why were Randy and Sophie here together?

Seeing Sharon and Seb, Randy stood up, "Uncle Seb, Ms. Roach."

Seb nodded, "Let's talk in the study."

"Okay." They quickly disappeared down the hallway.

Sharon walked over to Sophie and Demetrius, squatted down, and looked at Sophie, "Did you make up with Randy?"

"Yeah, he apologized, and he was really sincere, so I forgave him."

"Who was it that called me in the middle of the night saying they'd never forgive him this time?"

Sophie blushed at Sharon's teasing and gave her a look, "You're making fun of me, but didn't you do the same when you fought with Seb?"

Sharon couldn't help but laugh, "You're right, I won't tease you anymore. By the way, has Daniel stopped bothering you lately?"

Mentioning Daniel made Sophie frown, "Don't even get me started on him! I don't know what's gotten into him lately. He's been sending flowers and luxury goods to my office every day. He was never this generous before."

Thinking back to when she was with Daniel, she was always the one putting in the effort, showering him with gifts, but he hardly gave her anything. The thought made Sophie irritated.

Not giving anything was one thing—she didn't need those—but he was also always flirting with other women.

She couldn't understand what she saw in such a jerk five years ago.

"The most important thing is not to let him mess up your relationship with Randy."

Although Sophie didn't spell it out, Sharon could tell that Sophie was serious about Randy and was even thinking about marriage.

In her view, although Randy was young and not very mature, he truly loved Sophie, and that was enough.

"I know, so I threw away everything Daniel sent and didn't let Randy know."

Sharon pursed her lips, "You might want to mention it to him, so he doesn't get the wrong idea later."

Sophie was about to respond when she saw Randy walking towards them out of the corner of her eye. She stood up, "Done talking already?"

"Yeah, let's go."

Sharon stood up and looked at Sophie, "Do you want to stay for dinner?"

Sophie shook her head, "No, we have plans later."

Hearing this, Sharon didn't push it and, along with Seb, saw them out.

Watching Randy's car disappear from sight, Sharon turned and walked back inside with Seb.

"Sharon," Seb suddenly called her.

Sharon turned to look at him, "What's up?"

"There's a bidding conference tomorrow night. Will you come with me?"

"A bidding conference? Is it appropriate for me to go to something like that?"

"There's nothing inappropriate about it. There are some pharmaceutical projects, and you can help me see if they're suitable for Silvercrest Group."

Sharon was pretty knowledgeable about pharmaceutical projects, so she nodded, "Okay."

The next evening came quickly.

After work, Sharon and Seb headed straight to the bidding conference.

As soon as they walked in, they ran into Ayla and Leo.

Ayla smiled and greeted Seb, "Mr. Smith, good evening. I didn't expect to see you at this bidding conference tonight. I thought Silvercrest Group wouldn't be interested in these small projects!"

Seb's expression was indifferent, "Ms. Bridges, you sound so confident. It seems you're determined to get these small projects. I wonder how many the Bridges Group will secure today."

The Bridges Group had just come out of a crisis, so they naturally didn't have much money for bidding. They'd be lucky to secure one or two projects.

Ayla's smile stiffened, "Mr. Smith, rest assured, I will do my best to secure as many projects as possible for the Bridges Group!"

"I'll be watching." Seb smiled lightly and walked away with Sharon.

Ayla stared at their backs, her eyes filled with anger and resentment.

Thinking about how Seb had left the Bridges Group to fend for itself, she wished Silvercrest Group would face the same crisis so Seb could experience the same despair and fear she had!

She took a deep breath and, noticing Leo's distraction, vented her anger on him.

"Leo, what were you doing just now? Seb was mocking me, and you just stood there watching. Are you even a man?"
