Chapter 135 Quickly Explain It's a Misunderstanding

Seb was in a meeting when he heard Sharon was missing. He stood up and said, "Got it. I'll handle it."

Paul rushed over. "Mr. Smith, what's happening?"

"Meeting's over. We'll pick this up tomorrow. Contact the two people I assigned to Sharon. She's missing."

Paul looked shocked. "I'll get on it."

Seb had just returned to his office when Paul knocked, looking grim.

"Mr. Smith, those two said Sharon's car is heading out of town. I've told them to stop it."

"Send me her location now."

"On it."

After sending the location, Paul's phone rang. Whatever he heard made him look even grimmer.

"Mr. Smith, it's not Sharon in the car."

Seb's eyes widened, and he looked furious. "Who's in the car?"

"A taxi driver. Someone paid him to drive her car away while she was at a gas station. Sharon's missing."

"Useless! Get the gas station's surveillance footage now!"

Meanwhile, Sharon woke up tied to a chair in an abandoned warehouse, her mouth taped shut. She struggled.

The warehouse door opened, and David walked in with four bodyguards. One ripped the tape off her mouth.

"David, what do you want?"

David smirked. "Give me the files you sent to Alex, and I'll let you go."

"Do you think that's possible?"

Sharon glared at David, unafraid.

"Sharon, you and Alex were married. You called me 'Dad.' Just hand over the files, and we can still be a family."

"A family?" Sharon scoffed. "You bankrupted Robert Pharmaceuticals and left my dad in the hospital. You think I can just forget that?"

David's smile turned cold. "Since you won't cooperate, you'll disappear."

Sharon's eyes showed panic. "You're going to kill me?"

David nodded. "Yes. Once you're dead, I'll find those files. You could've cooperated, but you chose to be my enemy."

"Do you realize this is kidnapping and murder? You're committing a crime!"

David looked at her with pity. "No one will know you're dead. No one will find your body."

David's men yanked Sharon from the chair and dragged her outside.

"David, you'll get what's coming to you. You'll face retribution!"

"Retribution? If that were real, I'd have been caught when I first dealt with Robert Pharmaceuticals. You're naive. See you in hell!"

No one noticed the small flashing device hidden in Sharon's clothes.

Just as they reached the door, a dozen police officers burst in.

David's face showed terror and anger as he was pinned to the ground.

"Let go of me! Do you know who I am?"

"Doesn't matter. You're under arrest for kidnapping."

David glared at Sharon. "You set me up!"

David had been secretive about this plan. Only his closest allies knew. The police arriving so quickly meant Sharon had known and played along.

Realizing this, David's eyes filled with hatred. Sharon looked terrified, her face pale. "That's bullshit! You kidnapped me. How the hell could I make you do that?"

But David saw a fleeting smile and coldness in her eyes.

"Just you wait. I won't let you get away with this!"

Sharon hid behind a police officer, looking innocent and scared.

David's face turned livid. He hadn't expected to fail.

Soon, David and his men were taken away. As Sharon walked out, Brian hurried over.

"Ms. Wright, are you okay?"

Sharon shook her head. "I'm fine. Mr. Hill, take me to the police station. I need to give a statement."

"Alright."

In the car, Brian spoke with lingering fear. "Ms. Wright, it's lucky the police arrived in time. Otherwise, you might not have made it."

Sharon smiled, showing none of the fear she had shown earlier. "Mr. Hill, I appreciate you informing me about David's plan."

Brian looked helpless. He had meant to warn Sharon to be cautious, but she had used the opportunity to add a kidnapping charge against David.

"Ms. Wright, was it worth risking your life? You could have just handed the evidence to the police."

Sharon lowered her gaze. "It was worth it. I consulted a lawyer. The evidence would only result in economic crime charges. With the Smith family's influence, he might not even go to jail. I wanted to ensure he couldn't escape."

Brian sighed. "You were lucky this time. I can't risk your life again. Your safety is the most important."

"I understand. Thank you, Mr. Hill."

As Brian started the car, he said, "I'm still investigating who sent you those files. I'll let you know once I find out."

"Thank you."

"It's my job."

Upon arriving at the police station, Brian left.

The Smith family quickly learned about David's arrest. While Sharon was giving her statement, they rushed to the police station, hoping to bail David out, but they failed.

After finishing her statement, Sharon walked out and saw Tyler, Sandra, and Clara from the Smith family.

Seeing Sharon, their faces turned grim.

Especially Clara, who quickly walked up and raised her hand to slap her.

"You jinx! You got your father-in-law arrested. Are you crazy? Tell the police that this is all a misunderstanding!"
