Chapter 527 Taken Away by a Mysterious Man
Demetrius froze for a moment, glaring at Leo with clear dissatisfaction.
No wonder his mom didn't like this guy. Demetrius didn't like him either!
As the two stared each other down in silence, Leo's phone rang.
Seeing the number on the screen, he squinted and answered.
"Mr. Wendy, the plane is ready to go. When will you be here?"
Leo checked the time. "Around eight."
"Got it."
Hanging up, Leo looked at Demetrius, his eyes flickering with an unreadable emotion.
He was considering whether to send Demetrius away first. It would be safer that way.
As long as Sharon didn't see Demetrius, she would agree to all his conditions and go abroad with him.
"I need to pee!"
Demetrius's loud voice interrupted Leo's thoughts.
His face darkened immediately. "I told you, if you need to pee, do it in your pants."
Demetrius snorted. "Are you afraid I'll run away? You're an adult, scared of a kid running away. What a coward!"
Seeing Demetrius's disdainful expression, Leo sneered. "Afraid you'll run away? I'm just avoiding the hassle!"
"You're just scared I'll run away. If I did, it would only show how incompetent you are, not being able to keep an eye on a kid!"
Demetrius had figured it out. Leo didn't intend to harm him, just use him to threaten Sharon and trick her into coming.
If his smartwatch hadn't been smashed by Leo, he would have found a way to tell Sharon not to come.
"You!" Leo gritted his teeth. Considering they were on the fifth floor, even if Demetrius tried to escape, he wouldn't get far. Leo got up, walked over, and yanked him up.
"Fine, I'll let you pee. Let's see what you can do in front of me!" He dragged Demetrius to the bathroom, his voice cold. "Go ahead!"
"You tied me up. How am I supposed to pee?"
Leo weighed the options between pulling down his pants and untying him. He chose the latter.
But he didn't let his guard down just because Demetrius was a kid. He held the rope, watching Demetrius's every move.
"Hey, I can't pee with you staring at me."
Leo was getting impatient. "If you can't pee, then don't. I don't have time for this."
Seeing Leo about to tie him up again, Demetrius quickly said, "I think I can pee now."
Leo fell silent.
He stared coldly at Demetrius's back, feeling incredibly irritated.
If he didn't need Demetrius to threaten Sharon into staying with him, Demetrius would have been dead by now.
Soon, Demetrius finished and was tied up and thrown back on the floor by Leo.
Demetrius didn't resist, but his eyes darted around, thinking of other ways to escape.
He initially planned to untie the rope and climb out the bathroom window, but Leo stayed with him the whole time, giving him no chance.
Now, he had to think of another plan.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
Leo's expression turned wary. He quickly stuffed a cloth into Demetrius's mouth to prevent him from shouting and drawing attention.Leo kept his eyes on the door, not responding.
The knocking continued, and Leo's face grew darker.
Clearly, the person knew he was there and wouldn't leave.
He took a deep breath, quietly moved Demetrius to the bedroom, then walked to the door and whispered, "Who is it?"
"Hello, I'm here to check the gas. Could you open the door, please?"
Leo lowered his gaze, hesitated for a moment, then said, "I'm busy today. Come back tomorrow."
"Sir, we have a schedule for gas inspections. You weren't here last time, and it only takes five minutes."
Hearing no response from Leo, the person continued, "Sir? Are you still there?"
"I said come back tomorrow! I'm busy today!"
After saying that, Leo ignored the person outside.
He went back to the living room and called his men, his voice cold. "There's a guy claiming to check the gas at the door. Get up here and get rid of him!"
How could they let a gas inspector come knocking?
There was no response on the other end. Leo sensed something was wrong, his voice turning icy. "Who are you?"
The person hung up without a word.
A wave of unease washed over Leo. He tried contacting others, but no one answered.
He quickly called his secretary, furious. "Find out what's going on with everyone. I can't reach any of them."
"Yes, Mr. Wendy, I'll check right away!"
Hanging up, Leo paced the living room, a sense of losing control gnawing at him.
Suddenly, he thought of something, his face changing as he rushed to the bedroom.
Opening the door, his face turned ashen.
The bedroom was empty. Only a rope lay on the floor, mocking his stupidity.
The window was open. Leo walked over, seeing nothing, his face darkening.
He had underestimated Demetrius!
He quickly called his secretary, furious. "Send people over immediately. Find Demetrius and bring him back!"
Without Demetrius, Sharon wouldn't leave with him, making all his efforts pointless!
Leo turned to leave, opening the door to find someone standing there.
The person was tall, wearing a mask and hat, wrapped up tightly, exuding an intimidating presence.
Leo froze, unease rising. He instinctively tried to close the door, but it was too late.
The man held the door, his eyes cold as ice. "Where's Demetrius?"
Leo's face changed. "Who are you?"
"You don't need to know who I am. If you don't want to die, tell me where Demetrius is. My patience is limited."
Leo sneered. "Why should I tell you?"
Before he finished, the masked man grabbed his throat. "Mr. Wendy, I know all your plans. If you tell me where Demetrius is now, I'll let you go. This is your only chance. Miss it, and you'll never leave."
Facing the man's deep, cold eyes, fear crept into Leo's heart, his face paling.
"Let go of me! Or I'll make you pay!"
Leo's words were squeezed out through gritted teeth. The masked man chuckled. "Seems like you don't want to leave."
With that, Leo felt a sharp pain at the back of his neck, and everything went black as he lost consciousness.
The masked man disdainfully tossed Leo to the ground and stepped over him, heading into the living room.
After scanning the living room and not seeing Demetrius, he continued searching room by room.
At that moment, Demetrius was hiding inside a cabinet under the bed in the bedroom.
He had initially planned to climb out the window, but seeing the five-story drop below, he quickly pulled his head back in.
Searching the room, he found a cabinet under the bed that he could fit into and hid there, planning to come out once Leo left.
Just as he was about to sneak out, he heard footsteps approaching the door.
Demetrius held his breath, praying Leo wouldn't find him.
The footsteps grew louder and finally stopped in front of the cabinet where he was hiding.
Demetrius's heart raced, fear washing over him.
Suddenly, a deep voice came from outside, "Demetrius, come out."
Demetrius didn't respond, too nervous to notice the voice was different from Leo's.
The masked man stared at the cabinet, chuckling when there was no response. He crouched down and pulled the drawer open.
As soon as it opened, Demetrius's small fist flew towards his face.
The masked man quickly dodged, avoiding Demetrius's punch.
At that moment, Demetrius realized it wasn't Leo.
"Who are you?" Demetrius asked warily, looking at him like he was a bad guy.
Despite his fear, he clenched his fists, trying to appear calm and unafraid.
"Guess who I am," the masked man replied.
Demetrius stared at him, saying nothing.
"Alright, come with me," the masked man said, grabbing Demetrius by the shirt and lifting him up.
Demetrius struggled desperately. "Let go of me! Let go! You bad guy, where are you taking me?"
"You'll find out soon."
"I don't want to go! Let me go!"
"You don't have a choice."
The masked man carried Demetrius out. As they passed the doorway, Demetrius saw Leo unconscious on the floor and froze.
"See that? That's what happens when you don't listen. If you don't behave, you'll end up like him, knocked out and taken away."
Demetrius, holding back his fear, asked, "If I don't cry or make a fuss, will you let me go?"
"I'll think about it."
By then, they had reached the elevator.
Soon, the elevator stopped on the first floor.
As soon as the doors opened, Demetrius shouted, "Help! He's kidnapping me! This trafficker is trying to sell me! Help!"
He kept shouting but realized there was no one outside. He was stunned.
The masked man looked at him with amusement, his eyes crinkling with laughter.
"Keep shouting, louder if you can."
Demetrius fell silent.
Seeing he had stopped, the masked man raised an eyebrow. "Not going to shout anymore? If not, I'm leaving."
"Who are you? You better let me go now, or my dad won't let you off! My dad is very strong; he can take on ten guys like you. If you don't let me go, you'll regret it! But if you take me back, my parents will thank you!"
The masked man couldn't help but laugh. "Oh, I'm so scared! Why don't you call your dad to come and fight me now?"
Realizing his threats weren't working, Demetrius glared at him, looking around for an escape.
But the masked man gave him no chance, shoving him into a nearby car and instructing the driver to leave.
Seeing he wasn't being tied up, Demetrius grew bolder and asked, "Where are you taking me?"
He needed to find a way to contact his parents and let them know where he was.
"You said I was a trafficker, right? I'm taking you to sell you."
Meanwhile, Seb had just arrived at the subway station when he got a call from his men.
"Mr. Smith, we found Leo. He's unconscious at the door, and the door is open. We couldn't find Mr. Roach."
Seb's face darkened. "Wake Leo up and find out where he hid Demetrius."
Hanging up, Seb told the driver, "Stop the car!"
The car pulled over, and Seb got out, his voice cold. "Go to the subway station and see if you can find Demetrius. I have other matters to attend to. Call me whether you find him or not."
"Yes, Mr. Smith."
Seb hailed a cab to Harmony Apartments.
On the way, he informed Sharon about Leo being found unconscious and Demetrius missing.
Sharon quickly responded, "I'm closer to Harmony Apartments. I'll head there first!"
"Alright."
Sharon arrived at Harmony Apartments about ten minutes later.
Entering the living room, she saw Leo tied to a chair, bruised and battered.
Seeing Sharon, Rufus quickly approached. "Ms. Roach, Leo said a mysterious person took Mr. Roach. We checked the surveillance, but we didn't see the person he mentioned. The footage of him opening the door and being knocked out was deleted. We're trying to recover it now."
Sharon's legs gave out, and Rufus helped her to the couch.
"Ms. Roach, don't worry... Mr. Roach will be fine."
Sharon lowered her head, covering her face with her hands, panic rising within her.
She had thought the worst outcome would be staying with Demetrius, but now he was taken by a mysterious person.
Taking a deep breath, she looked at Rufus. "Do you have any suspects?"
"Not yet. The mysterious person seemed to appear out of nowhere. We checked the surrounding surveillance and found nothing."
Sharon's heart sank. "Keep looking... You said some footage was deleted? Recover it, and we should find out who took Demetrius."
Her voice choked, emotions nearly overwhelming her.
"Ms. Roach, don't worry. Demetrius will be fine."
Sharon didn't respond, tears streaming down her face.
Rufus felt a pang of sympathy but didn't know how to comfort her.
Seb arrived over an hour later.
