Chapter 450 Let Me Say Sorry to You

Randy was caught off guard for a second. "It's already in use? What's the deal?"

Seb replied, "You should find a way to let workers spread the news that the building materials we're using are subpar. The main goal is to make sure Daniel catches wind of it."

Randy met Seb's cold gaze, stayed quiet for a moment, then nodded. "Got it."

Seb stood up. "Get someone you trust to handle this. Once the word is out, Daniel will likely make a move against the Smith Group."

If Daniel hadn't gone silent all of a sudden, Seb wouldn't have asked Randy to spread the news himself.

Randy replied, "Okay."

With that settled, Seb left.

Back at Silvercrest Group, Paul knocked and walked into the office. "Mr. Smith, Kirk admitted to embezzling over three million dollars from the drug research funds, but he's blown through all the money. We probably won't get it back."

Three million dollars wasn't a huge deal for Silvercrest Group, but Kirk's actions were a big problem.

If a team leader in pharmaceutical research could swipe over three million dollars of research funds over three years without getting caught, others might think they could get away with it too.

Seb's expression was icy. "Getting the money back isn't the main issue. We need to make an example out of him and give him a harsh sentence to warn anyone else who might be tempted."

Paul nodded. "Understood."

Meanwhile, Ariana got a call from Kirk's lawyer, Floyd Almanza. "Ms. Stout, Mr. Marshall has confessed. He asked me to give you something."

Ariana was surprised. The last time she saw Kirk, he was indifferent and didn't seem like he was going to plead guilty. She didn't expect him to confess so soon.

But then again, even if he didn't confess, it wouldn't change much. Silvercrest Group had already submitted evidence of his embezzlement. Whether he confessed or not, he was going to be prosecuted.

Not hearing a response from Ariana, Floyd continued, "Ms. Stout? Are you there?"

Ariana snapped back to reality and said softly, "What did he want you to give me?"

Floyd replied, "I'm not sure. When do you have time to meet? We should discuss this in person."

Ariana suggested, "How about tonight? I'm free tonight."

Floyd agreed, "Alright, let's meet at a café near your office around seven tonight."

Ariana said, "Okay, just text me when you get there."

After hanging up, Ariana put down her phone and took a deep breath.

She hadn't expected Kirk to embezzle the company's research funds, but it was what it was. All she could do now was be there for him if he needed help that was within her hands.

That evening, at Riverside Cafe near Silvercrest Group.

Floyd handed a box to Ariana. "Ms. Stout, this is what Mr. Marshall wanted you to have. I don't know what's inside, but he also asked me to apologize on his behalf and to tell you not to take his previous words to heart and to live well."

Ariana took the box and noticed it had a combination lock, her eyes filled with confusion. "Did he give you the password for this?"

Floyd shook his head slowly. "Mr. Marshall said you'd be able to guess the password, so I don't know what's inside either."
