Chapter 94 Did You think it's for another reason?

Sharon woke up, staring at the white ceiling. She blinked, trying to piece together what had happened.

"You're awake. Feeling any discomfort?"

Sharon turned her head to see Seb, looking a bit worn out by her bedside. She shook her head. "Just some pain in my abdomen. How long was I out?"

"One day and one night."

Sharon frowned. "That long?"

"Yeah, the stab hit your spleen."

The doctor had said if the wound had been any deeper, it would've caused massive bleeding, and Sharon might not have made it.

Those ten-plus hours outside the operating room were pure torture for Seb, every second dragging on like an eternity.

Sharon, pale-faced, slowly sat up. "Did they catch the guy?"

Seb nodded, his voice icy. "Yeah, it was the son of a rival company's owner from Silvercrest Group. After going bankrupt, he was chased by creditors and decided to take revenge on me."

He lowered his gaze, hiding the ruthlessness in his eyes. Irvin would never see the light of day again.

Just as Sharon was about to speak, the door to the ward burst open. Alex stormed in, glaring at Seb like he wanted to kill him.

"Seb, not only did you get Sharon hurt, but you also blocked the news and made me search for so long. Do you really think you can do whatever you want in Metropolis?"

Sharon looked at Seb in shock. She had found it strange earlier; given Alex's aversion to Seb, it seemed impossible for him to let Seb stay in the ward waiting for her to wake up. She hadn't expected Seb to block the news.

Seb looked at Alex with indifference. "This is a hospital room. She just woke up and needs a quiet environment."

Before he could finish, Alex interrupted coldly, "What right do you have to say that? If it weren't for you, would she be hurt?"

Seb's eyes darkened. This time, it was indeed his fault that Sharon got involved.

But Sharon rushing up to push him away also confirmed that she had feelings for him.

Knowing that was enough. The rest, he would handle.

He would eliminate all the obstacles preventing them from being together. Sharon just needed to wait for him.

Seb coldly looked at Alex, about to speak when his phone suddenly rang.

Seeing it was Paul, he walked to the balcony to answer. "What is it?"

Paul's voice was somewhat grave. "Mr. Smith, I found out what you asked me to investigate. Ms. Wright has been looking into the Robert Pharmaceuticals incident from six years ago. It seems to be related to your older brother."

Seb's grip on the phone tightened, his face becoming extremely grim.

He had never understood why Sharon suddenly went back to Alex. Now Paul's words gave him the answer.

It turned out Sharon was investigating the Robert Pharmaceuticals incident from six years ago.

No wonder.

If that incident was indeed related to David, then it was the Smith family that caused the Wright family's bankruptcy.

Sharon couldn't just pretend nothing happened and be with him.

After a moment of silence, Paul asked softly, "Mr. Smith, should we stop Ms. Wright from investigating further?"

Seb was torn. On one side was Sharon, who had just saved him, and on the other was his family. Paul felt a headache just thinking about it.

"Get to the bottom of this as soon as possible. I want the whole story within a week!"

After hanging up, Seb put away his phone and returned to the ward with his usual cold demeanor.

Alex looked at him coldly. "Uncle Seb, I'm Sharon's husband. I'll take care of her from now on. You just need to cover the medical expenses for the past few days. You can leave now."

"I won't leave until she's discharged."

Alex's eyes flashed with mockery. "If you stay here, it will only make things difficult for Sharon. Are you sure you want to force her?"

"Threatening me?"

Seb's eyes narrowed dangerously, looking at Alex as if he were an ant.

He had never taken Alex seriously.

"Yes, Uncle Seb, if you don't want everyone to know that you like Sharon, you'd better leave now."

Seb raised an eyebrow. "It seems the Smith group doesn't want to cooperate with Silvercrest Group anymore."

Alex smiled confidently. "Uncle Seb, if Silvercrest Group ends its cooperation with the Smith group, everyone in Metropolis will know by tomorrow that you like your own niece-in-law."

As soon as he finished speaking, he felt a tremendous pressure envelop him.

"Do you think those newspapers would rather offend you or me?"

Alex's smile stiffened. "Those newspapers certainly wouldn't dare offend you, but if Grandpa and Grandma found out, they'd probably be furious with you."

Seb looked at him coldly, the icy aura around him seemingly capable of freezing someone to death.

"Alex, you're the first person to dare threaten me like this."

Alex remained unfazed. "Uncle Seb, and you're the first to covet my wife."

A tension filled the air between them, and Sharon frowned, feeling irritated.

"Enough, both of you leave. I don't need either of you to take care of me."

Alex looked at Sharon, his expression darkening. "Sharon, don't be difficult. You're very weak right now. I'll only feel at ease if I take care of you myself."

Most importantly, if he took care of Sharon himself, Seb had no right to interfere.

After all, he, Alex, was Sharon's legitimate husband.

And Seb, staying here, would only make people laugh.

Sharon's expression was cold. "I can just hire a nurse."

"Sharon."

Sharon ignored Alex, lowering her eyes as if she hadn't heard.

After a moment of silence, Sharon looked up at Seb. "Uncle Seb, you saved me at the bar that day, and I took a stab for you this time. We're even now. Don't come here anymore."

Seb's face turned extremely grim. "You just want to settle the score with me?"

His questioning tone made Sharon feel a pang of bitterness, but her face remained indifferent.

"Yes. Does Uncle Seb think there's another reason?"
