Chapter 85 Do You Have the Ability to Give Him a Hard Time?

Sharon shook Alex off, her face cold. "You're overthinking it."

He was annoyed with her obviously perfunctory answer, his eyes growing colder.

Taking a deep breath to calm himself, he softened his tone. "Sharon, I know you feel wronged, but Grandma is getting old. I hope you can be more tolerant."

Sharon found it amusing. It seemed that whenever it came to matters concerning the Smiths, Alex's only solution was to ask her to endure.

In the past, she had overlooked these things because she loved him. Now, she realized that in his heart, she could never compare to neither the Smiths nor his career.

She said, "Don't worry, I won't have any issues with her."

After all, she didn't care about Alex anymore, so how could she care about anyone else?

Seeing her calm expression with no signs of anger, Alex didn't continue the topic. "By the way, Mom asked us to go over for dinner tomorrow night."

Sharon was a bit surprised. After all, Clara had never liked her; she rarely invited them over ever since she married Alex.

However, if she could find a chance to enter David's study, she might find clues about the Robert Pharmaceuticals incident from years ago.

Thinking of this, Sharon nodded and said, "Okay, I got it. Do we need to prepare any gifts?"

"No need, I'll pick you up after work tomorrow."

"Alright."

The next evening came quickly.

Sharon packed up her lab equipment and said goodbye to Ashley before leaving.

As she reached downstairs, a figure suddenly appeared beside her, startling Sharon.

Looking closely, she realized it was Tom, who had confessed to her yesterday.

He was holding flowers in one hand and a delicate cake in the other, smiling brightly at her. "Ms. Wright, I thought about it all night after I got home and still really like you. I don't want to give up just like that, so can you give me a chance to pursue you?"

Shw was very annoyed by his persistent behavior. She thought she had made herself clear yesterday.

She said, "Mr. Doe, I told you I'm already married. What you're doing constitutes harassment."

Tom's face changed, his gaze turning cold a bit before reverting to his previous cheerful expression. "But I won't believe you're married unless you show me your marriage certificate or husband here to prove it."

Impatience flashed in Sharon's eyes, and her voice turned icy. "I don't think I have any obligation to do that. If you suspect I'm lying, show me evidence that I'm deceiving you. If you can't, stop bothering me."

With that, Sharon turned to leave, her face cold.

However, as she passed by Tom, he suddenly reached out and grabbed her.

The next second, his face was punched.

Alex's punch was strong, making Tom stumble and fall to the ground. The flowers and cake in his hands were thrown out, leaving him in a sorry state.

Sharon was stunned for a moment and looked at Alex. "When did you get here?"

"Just now." Alex coldly looked at Tom, his gaze murderous.

Tom was initially dazed by Alex's punch, but felt angry as he recovered. He looked up at Alex, ready to curse, but was startled by Alex's icy eyes.

His body trembled involuntarily, and it took several seconds for him to suppress his fear.

After standing up, he glared at Alex angrily. "Who are you? Why did you hit me for no reason?"

"You were harassing my wife. Only a punch is merciful.."

Tom was surprised to realize Sharon was really married. He bit his lip, feeling a bit guilty.

However, remembering that he made the first move, he regained his confidence. "Do you have proof I was harassing her? If not, do you believe I'll call the police and report you for assault, getting you locked up for a few days?"

Alex was unfazed by Tom's threat. "Go ahead, but you might be the one ending up in jail."

Tom, who was all bluster, saw that Alex wasn't fazed and gritted his teeth. "Just you wait. You'd better hope I don't see you again!"

With that, he ran off.

Watching Tom flee, Alex's eyes were cold.

Someone like him had the audacity to harass Sharon.

Alex turned to her, his face dark. "Why didn't you tell me someone was bothering you?"

From her expression earlier, it seemed this wasn't the first time Tom had harassed her.

Sharon pursed her lips. "I didn't expect him to get physical, and I already rejected him yesterday."

She didn't expect Tom to be so shameless, ignoring her clear rejection.

Alex sneered, "Tolerating people like him only makes them worse. I'll call Uncle Seb later and ask how he manages his employees!"

Hearing that he wanted to contact Seb, she frowned. "It's just a small matter, no need to bother him."

Alex paused his dialing and looked at her deeply. "Do you really think it's a small matter, or are you afraid I'd make things difficult for him?"

Her expression turned cold. "Do you really think you have the power to do that?"

"Say that again!" his face turned dark as ink, his gaze murderous.

Sharon actually said he didn't have the power to make things difficult for Seb!

She said, "I can say it as many times as you want; I'm just stating the facts."

He sneered, "Fine!"

With that, he strode toward the car parked by the road, his back exuding anger.

He kept a sullen face, not saying a word to her until the car stopped at the entrance of Clara and David's Emerald Lake Villa.

Sharon didn't mind, following him inside.

When they entered the living room, they heard David's laughter.

Her hand at her side clenched unconsciously.

Taking a deep breath to suppress her surging emotions, she lowered her head and changed shoes with Alex before entering.

Passing through the hallway, she saw Seb was also there.

He and David were playing chess, while Clara sat beside David, smiling peacefully. However, Sharon knew Clara and David's marriage was long dead; Clara was just keeping up appearances.

Seeing Alex, Clara said gently, "Have a seat. Your dad and Uncle Seb will finish this game soon, and then we'll eat."

When she looked at Sharon behind Alex, her smile dimmed significantly, and she didn't greet her.

Sharon didn't mind. After all, it'd be more frightening if Clara was suddenly kind to her.

Sitting on the sofa, Alex's eyes fell on the chess game, and it looked like David was about to lose.

Sharon wasn't interested in who won or lost; she was thinking about how to enter David's study without anyone noticing.

The study was at the end of the left-hand side on the second floor, usually locked.

Getting the key from David was unrealistic, but Alex's bedroom was right next to the study, and the two balconies were connected.

She just needed to climb from Alex's balcony to enter the study.

While she was lost in thought, the chess game ended.

David sighed. "Seb, you still don't go easy on me. I'm your brother; can't you let me win?"

Seb tossed the chess piece into the container. "If you want someone to let you win, play with your subordinates. They probably wouldn't dare to beat you."
