Chapter 626 The Grand Finale
Sharon replied, "Of course! When are you guys planning to tie the knot?"
Sophie shook her head. "We haven't nailed down a date yet. He's gonna talk to my parents in a few days."
"Well, you'll be swamped soon. Just planning the wedding is a huge deal."
"Yeah, just thinking about it gives me a headache."
Over the next few months, Sophie was buried in wedding preparations and work, almost to the point of burnout.
Their wedding was set for August 8th, giving them less than six months to get everything ready. Sophie traveled abroad several times to meet with designers and finalize her wedding dress.
Besides the dress, she had to discuss various wedding details with Randy, from the venue to the favors and bouquets.
After months of hard work, the big day finally arrived.
Sophie woke up around 2 AM to start getting ready.
By the time Sharon arrived at seven, Sophie was already done with her makeup and sitting on the bed, waiting for the groom to come and pick her up.
Seeing Sharon, Sophie couldn't help but complain, "Weddings are exhausting. I've been up since the crack of dawn and haven't had a moment to rest."
Sharon chuckled. "Weddings are always tiring, but it's worth it to look back on this day without any regrets."
"True. By the way, where are Bubbles and Demetrius? Why didn't you bring them?"
"They're with Seb. Bubbles can't be away from Seb, and Demetrius can't be away from Bubbles. The three of them are practically inseparable now."
Sophie laughed. "Seb's become famous in our circle. Everyone says he's spoiling his daughter. Even when he goes to business meetings, he takes her along. Randy says Uncle Seb has completely changed."
Who would've thought Seb would turn out like this?
Sharon shook her head, feeling a bit helpless.
If it weren't for his daughter's clinginess, Seb wouldn't have to bring her to business meetings.
"Alright, today's your big day. Let's not talk about anything else. Here's my wedding gift for you. I hope you like it."
Sharon handed Sophie a box from her bag.
Sophie opened it to find a teardrop-shaped sapphire necklace, her eyes lighting up with admiration.
"It's beautiful, Sharon. Thank you!"
"I'm glad you like it."
Sharon hugged her. "Sophie, you must be happy!"
"I will be."
After giving her the gift, Sharon left.
Leaving the Lee Villa, Sharon headed straight to the hotel.
As soon as she stepped into the hotel ballroom, she saw Seb holding Bubbles and chatting with someone. Bubbles was quiet, her big eyes fixed on Seb, while Demetrius tried to entertain her from a chair, but she didn't even glance at him.
Sharon couldn't help but smile and walked quickly towards them.
Noticing Sharon, Seb turned to her, his eyes full of warmth.
"Did you see Sophie?"
"Yeah, I did. Let me hold Bubbles so you can take a break."
"No need, I'm not tired."
Seeing this, Sharon didn't insist and sat down next to Demetrius.
An hour later, the wedding officially began. After the emcee's opening remarks, the ballroom doors slowly opened, and Sophie walked in arm-in-arm with Leonard.
Her eyes were locked on Randy, a smile playing on her lips.
Soon, they reached Randy.
Leonard held back his tears as he placed Sophie's hand in Randy's, giving it a gentle pat.
"Randy, take good care of Sophie. We've spoiled her, and she can be a bit headstrong. I hope you'll be patient with her in your marriage. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness."
Randy held Sophie's hand tightly and solemnly said, "Dad, don't worry. I'll cherish her."
Leonard nodded and wiped his tears as he stepped off the stage.
After exchanging vows and rings, the couple kissed amidst cheers.
On the way back from the wedding, Sharon turned to Seb. "I saw Mr. Lee wiping his tears several times today. When Bubbles gets married, you'll probably do the same, finding a quiet place to cry."
Seb's grip on the steering wheel tightened, his gaze becoming sharp.
"No one is good enough for my daughter. If she doesn't get married, we'll take care of her forever."
Sharon raised an eyebrow and smiled. "What if she meets someone she likes and wants to get married?"
"Then I'll thoroughly investigate that man. If I find any issues, I won't let them be together."
Sharon fell silent.
He was just like any other doting father.
Back home, as soon as Sharon got out of the car holding Bubbles, Bubbles reached out for Seb.
Seb took Bubbles from Sharon and smiled. "Sharon, why don't you drive from now on, and I'll hold Bubbles?"
Sharon glared at him. "No way. It's because you let Bubbles sleep with you during your recovery that she's so attached to you now. If you keep taking her everywhere, her first word will be 'Daddy.'"
"Starting tomorrow, you're not allowed to take Bubbles to the office. I'll stay home and bond with her."
Seb raised an eyebrow. "Sharon, are you jealous because Bubbles likes me more?"
"Bubbles doesn't like you more. She loves us equally."
"If that's the case, why not let me keep taking her to the office? It would make things easier for you."
Sharon fell silent.
"If you don't say anything, I'll assume you agree to let me keep taking Bubbles to the office."
With that, Seb turned to head into the villa.
Sharon quickly stopped him. "No, I don't want you to take Bubbles to the office because it would affect your work. If you take her every day, your efficiency will drop."
"It won't. When she sleeps, I work faster so I can play with her when she wakes up."
Inside the living room, Sharon still hadn't given up on bonding with Bubbles before she started talking.
"Seb, your work is exhausting. Let me take care of Bubbles. I'm home all day with nothing to do. I don't want you to be so tired."
Seb looked at her, a smile tugging at his lips. "You don't want me to be so tired?"
Sharon nodded. "Of course. You're juggling work and childcare. It's too much."
"Alright, then starting tomorrow, I'll teach you how to manage the company. You can help me at work."
"No way. I can't learn business stuff. Taking care of a child is simpler. Let me do it."
"But Bubbles cries when she can't see me. It breaks my heart."
Taking Bubbles to work was indeed more tiring, but every time she smiled at him, it made everything worth it.
"She won't. Didn't you say Bubbles loves us equally? She might cry for a bit, but if you stop taking her to the office, she'll get used to staying home."
Seeing Sharon's determination, Seb relented. "Alright, we'll try it tomorrow. But if she cries, you'll have to bring her to the office."
"Deal!"
The next morning, Seb got up, got ready, and had breakfast. He kissed Bubbles on the cheek before heading to work.
As he was putting on his shoes at the door, Bubbles reached out for him, clearly wanting to be held.
Seb looked at Sharon. "Sharon, maybe today we should..."
"No way. You go to work. If you don't have anything urgent, don't come home for lunch. And if you need to work late, don't rush back."
Seb couldn't help but laugh. "You're pulling out all the stops to bond with Bubbles."
"That's not true. I'm just thinking about the company's growth."
"Alright, alright. I'm off to work then."
"Drive safe."
An hour later, Seb was in a meeting when he got a call from Sharon.
"What's up?"
"Seb, Bubbles has been crying non-stop. I'm on my way to the office now. I'll hand her over to you."
As soon as Seb left, Bubbles started crying. Sharon tried everything to soothe her, but nothing worked. Seeing Bubbles cry so hard that she started hiccuping, Sharon's heart ached, and she had the driver take them to the office.
"Okay, don't worry. Put me on speaker, and I'll talk to Bubbles."
Seb signaled Paul to pause the meeting and walked to the door.
On the phone, Seb managed to calm Bubbles down, talking to her until Sharon arrived at the office with her.
Seeing Bubbles' swollen eyes from crying, Seb quickly took her into his arms to comfort her.
Watching Seb gently rock Bubbles, who was now calm in his arms, Sharon sighed and gave up on her plan to bond with Bubbles alone.
For Bubbles' first birthday, Seb and Sharon threw a small party.
They didn't want a big celebration, so they invited close friends and family.
Everyone brought a traditional gift for the first birthday. Sophie brought a gold bowl, and Randy brought a gold spoon.
Seeing their gifts, Sharon couldn't help but laugh.
"You two are a couple, bringing such similar gifts."
"They're not the same. If Bubbles picks mine, she might want to be a public servant. If she picks Randy's, she might want to be a foodie. What did you guys prepare?"
"I got her a book, Seb got her a calligraphy brush, and my dad got her a piano. Oh, and there's also a graduation cap."
Sophie nodded. "Looks like mine is the biggest and shiniest. Bubbles will pick mine!"
Randy glanced at her. "By that logic, my spoon is the longest. I think she'll pick mine!"
"Length doesn't matter. Size does!"Sophie glared at Randy, who immediately backed down. "Okay, okay, whatever you say, honey."
"That's more like it."
Sharon couldn't help but interject. "Sophie, don't always bully Randy."
Randy turned to Sharon. "Ms. Roach, you have no idea what I've been through these past few months. I..."
Before he could finish, Sophie pinched his waist.
"What have you been through? Tell me. Have you been unhappy these past few months?"
"No, I've been very happy."
"Have I bullied you?"
"No."
"Then keep your mouth shut, or Sharon will think I've been bullying you."
Randy looked at Sophie with a pitiful expression and lowered his head like a scolded child.
Before they got married, Sophie seemed gentle and beautiful to him. After marriage, he realized how wrong he had been.
Gentle and beautiful? All a facade.
If he came home late after drinking, he had to choose between kneeling on a durian or a keyboard.
But he couldn't complain.
He chose his wife, so he had to pamper her.
Just as Sharon was about to speak, Dana approached her. "Mrs. Smith, Mr. Smith wants you to come over. Bubbles' First Birthday ceremony is about to start."
"Alright, I'm coming."
Sharon turned to the couple. "Let's go."
In the center of the living room, Bubbles sat on a large round table, wearing a red dress and red socks, curiously looking at the people around her.
A circle of items for the First Birthday ceremony surrounded her, including the gifts from Sharon and the others, as well as a toy car, a small hammer, a stethoscope, a calculator, and more.
Everyone watched Bubbles, wondering what she would pick.
Soon, Bubbles started moving.
She crawled forward and picked up an astronaut figurine, looked at it for a few seconds, then put it down.
She looked around at the other items, then turned and crawled towards the gold bowl Sophie had prepared.
Sophie was excited, gripping Randy's arm. "See, I told you she'd pick my gold bowl!"
Randy nodded. "You were right. Bigger is more noticeable."
As Bubbles reached the gold bowl, Sophie grew tense.
'Please pick the gold bowl!'
Under Sophie's eager gaze, Bubbles reached out.
But she didn't pick the gold bowl. She picked the gold calculator next to it.
Sophie was silent.
'It's okay. Bubbles picked up the astronaut figurine first and then put it down. She'll realize the gold bowl is better soon.'
But Bubbles held onto the gold calculator tightly and didn't let go.
Seb looked at Sharon and smiled. "Looks like Bubbles wants to take over the company."
They let Bubbles pick two more times. Although she was initially attracted to other items, she always ended up choosing the gold calculator. Seb couldn't hide his smile.
It seemed he had a successor.
After the First Birthday ceremony, everyone gathered for a group photo.
Seb held Bubbles, Sharon held Demetrius, and the family of four sat in the center.
Everyone was smiling, capturing a moment of pure happiness.
