Chapter 124 Shifting the Blame onto Sharon

Tyler called, and Alex got a bad feeling.

"Grandpa."

Tyler's voice was angry. "Don't call me Grandpa. I don't have a foolish grandson. Ava's pregnancy news is everywhere, and it's tanking Smith Group's shares. Resign immediately!"

Alex's face darkened. "Grandpa, what about my transfer to the branch office?"

"Forget it. The board is very unhappy with you. Fix your mess first. If you can't, don't bother coming back."

Tyler's words hit Alex hard. Panicked, he quickly said, "Grandpa, I'll handle it ASAP. If the shareholders have issues, I'll start at the bottom of the branch office."

If he got kicked out and couldn't even go to the branch office, returning to Smith Group would be tough.

There was a pause before Tyler's cold voice came through.

"We'll talk later. Take this time to think about what you should be doing."

Tyler hung up.

Despair flashed in Alex's eyes. He knew Tyler was really disappointed.

Alex mused, 'Randy has been eyeing his position for a while. Now that I am leaving, Randy would surely take the chance to climb up.'

'By the time I fixed things with Ava and came back, would there still be a place for me at Smith Group?' Alex felt helpless.

His phone rang again.

He answered coldly, "What is it?"

"Alex, I don't know how the news of my pregnancy got out. Reporters are blocking the entrance. What should I do?"

Ava sounded panicked. Alex said, "Lock the door. I'll send someone to get rid of the reporters."

"But even if they leave, they'll come back. Someone threw paint on my door and threatened me. I'm scared."

Alex frowned. "Got it. I'll come pick you up later. For now, find another place to stay."

He hung up and was about to leave when the office door burst open. Five or six shareholders stormed in, looking angry.

Joshua Hill, the lead shareholder, threw a document on Alex's desk. "Mr. Smith, look at what you've done. The stock price dropped today. Do you know how much we've lost because of you?"

Alex looked up. "Mr. Hill, please knock next time."

Joshua sneered. "We had a shareholders' meeting and decided to fire you. Starting tomorrow, you don't need to come here."

"As long as I'm the general manager, you need to knock before entering my office."

"I've said what I needed to say. Pack up your things by the end of the day. The new general manager starts tomorrow."

Alex's face changed. "Who is the new general manager?"

Before Joshua could answer, a cold voice came from the door.

"It's me."

Alex looked at the door and saw Randy's smiling face. He clenched his fist.

'It is Randy!'

'It has taken me two years to win the shareholders' approval, and Randy has only been with the company for a short time. Yet Tyler has made Randy the general manager!' Alex cursed inwardly.

A surge of anger and frustration welled up in Alex. 'No matter how hard I try, I could never surpass Seb in Tyler's eyes. Now, I can't even surpass Randy. It is unbelievable!' Alex mused.

"Alex, you look surprised to see me."

Alex's expression was icy. "You've only been here a short time. What makes you qualified for this position?"

Randy stayed calm. "At least I wouldn't cause a scandal that tanks the Smith Group's stock price. Don't you think?"

Alex glared at Randy, his aura chilling. "Get out!"

"I'll wait for you to pack up so I can move in tomorrow."

Everyone left, leaving Alex alone. He swept the documents off his desk and stormed out.

An hour later, Ava got into Alex's car with a suitcase from the back entrance of her apartment.

"Alex, thank goodness for you. I wouldn't know what to do."

Alex drove in silence, his face dark and grim.

Sensing his mood, Ava bit her lip. "Alex, we need to find a way to suppress the news about my pregnancy online."

Alex's grip on the steering wheel tightened. "You don't need to worry about that. Focus on having the baby."

Ava's eyes flickered. "I suspect Ms. Wright is behind this."

The car suddenly stopped. Alex turned to her with a cold expression. "You think she did it? What does she gain from this?"

Ava was startled by his gaze. Fear flashed across her face. "Hasn't she always wanted a divorce? With my pregnancy trending, she could use public opinion to force you into it."

"A few days ago, my grandpa promised her that once the photo scandal blew over, I'd secretly divorce her. Revealing this wouldn't benefit her at all."

Ava lowered her eyes. "I still think it's her. Blowing this up might get her more assets in the divorce."

Alex suddenly remembered that when Sharon first discovered his affair, she demanded half of his assets. If that was the reason, it might really be Sharon. Only a few people knew about Ava's pregnancy. Sharon might have exposed it to force him into a divorce.

Thinking about how he was kicked out of the Smith Group because of this, Alex was filled with a chilling aura.

He dropped Ava off at one of his villas and hired a nanny to take care of her before leaving.

In the evening, as Sharon stepped out of the elevator, she saw Alex standing at her door.

"You're back?" Alex's voice was low, his face icy.

"I called you all morning, no answer. Now you're here. What do you want?"

"What do I want?"

Alex took two steps forward, looking down at Sharon. "You really will do anything to get a divorce."

After hearing Ava's words, he initially suspected Sharon. But then he got a call from Joseph, who said they found evidence that Sharon was behind it.

At that moment, Alex wanted to rush to Silvercrest Group and strangle Sharon. She had ruined his career and pride.

Sharon frowned. "What do you mean?"

"You don't understand? Weren't you the one who leaked the news about Ava's pregnancy online?"

Alex's accusatory tone made Sharon feel it was laughable.

Sharon thought, 'Alex has an affair with Ava and gets her pregnant. Now that it is public, he wants to blame me?'

"You say I did it. Do you have any evidence?"

"You want evidence? Fine, I'll give you some!"

Alex shoved his phone in Sharon's face, gritting his teeth. "Look, this is the evidence!"
