Chapter 552 No Need to Seek Anyone's Favor
Garry fell silent, his face going pale as he held back from speaking.
Seb wasn't in a rush. He didn't push Garry, just waited patiently for his response.
He was sure Garry would give him the answer he wanted.
After what felt like forever, Garry finally looked at him and said, "If I don't agree to your terms, are you gonna hand those pieces of evidence over to the cops?"
"Mr. Bridges, the moment you asked that, you already knew the answer."
Garry took a deep breath, staring hard at Seb. "I can agree, but if Jesse finds out about this, both the Bridges Group and the Silvercrest Group are toast."
He was stuck in a tough spot. If he didn't agree to Seb's terms, the Bridges Group's dirty laundry would be aired out. But if he did agree, and Jesse found out, Jesse wouldn't let the Bridges Group off the hook either.
No matter what he chose, the Bridges Group was probably headed for ruin.
"Mr. Bridges, don't worry. If you help me take down Jesse, once it's done, I'll hand over everything I have on the Bridges Group."
"Alright, I agree."
"Then here's to a successful partnership."
After Garry left, the smile on Seb's face slowly faded.
This was Garry's last chance. If he chose to side with Jesse, then the Bridges Group wouldn't need to exist anymore.
Soon, Paul knocked and entered the office.
"Mr. Smith, these are the companies that have had dealings with Jesse. Some of them have deep collaborations with the Silvercrest Group."
Seb glanced at the list, his expression serious. "Find alternative companies to replace those products, preferably from other cities. Be ready to terminate contracts at any time. Also, investigate these companies. Within three days, I want to know if they've been involved in any illegal activities. Pick one to make an example of."
Paul nodded, "Got it."
Meanwhile, Garry had just returned to the Bridges family home when the butler approached him quietly. "Mr. Bridges, Mr. Scott is here."
Garry's face darkened. "Got it."
Entering the living room, he saw Jesse lounging on the sofa, sipping a glass of red wine like he owned the place. Garry couldn't help but frown.
Suppressing his irritation, Garry sat across from Jesse. "What brings you here today, Mr. Scott?"
Jesse chuckled, setting down his glass and looking at Garry. "Mr. Bridges, I don't like beating around the bush. What did Seb want when he called you to the Silvercrest Group?"
Garry, having faced many storms, showed no sign of guilt as he calmly replied, "He questioned why the Bridges Group terminated its contract with the Silvercrest Group. Then he said his company was out of products, and the production line was halted. He wanted to buy some products from us at a high price to get the line running again."
"That's it?" Jesse's eyes narrowed, clearly not buying that Seb would summon Garry just for that.
"Yes, Mr. Scott. If you don't believe me, you can ask Mr. Smith yourself."
Seeing Garry's displeased expression, Jesse's lips curled into a smile. "It's not that I don't trust you, Mr. Bridges. I just wanted to clarify what Seb wanted. Any misunderstandings could harm our cooperation. I hope you understand."
Garry sneered, "Mr. Scott, if I remember correctly, you threatened me. This isn't a partnership."
"Mr. Bridges, are you still upset about that? I did threaten you, but it was for our cooperation. And now, I've given the Bridges Group several major deals. If you continue to work with me, the future is bright. Surpassing the Silvercrest Group is within reach!"
"Let's hope you keep your word, Mr. Scott."
Caught between Seb and Jesse, the Bridges Group was in a precarious position.
If he had known the Bridges Group would end up like this, he might have preferred bankruptcy over living in constant fear.
"Don't worry. I'll have someone invest a billion dollars in the Bridges Group. If you need anything, just let me know."
"Alright, I'm tired. I won't see you out."
After Jesse left, Garry sat on the sofa for a long time. Just as he was about to head to his study, Damon returned.
"Grandpa, the company just received a billion-dollar investment from Jesse. This guy really has power. If the Bridges Group had partnered with him earlier, we wouldn't have been on the brink of bankruptcy!"
Seeing Damon's excitement, Garry felt a surge of irritation.
"Idiot!"
Damon, taken aback, looked at Garry with displeasure. "Grandpa, what do you mean? Aren't you happy about the money? How am I an idiot?"
"Do you think that money comes without strings? He gave us that money to go against the Silvercrest Group!"
"Isn't that a good thing? If the Silvercrest Group goes under, we can dominate the Metropolis market. We'll be independent and won't need to seek anyone's favor. I'm tired of our partners' snide remarks since we ended our contract with the Silvercrest Group."
Garry took a deep breath and stood up. "Come to the study with me."
They walked into the study, and ten minutes later, Damon stormed out, his face ashen.
As he was about to leave, Garry's cold voice came from behind. "Remember what I told you and follow my instructions. If you leak anything and the Bridges Group goes bankrupt, I won't acknowledge you as my grandson!"
Damon took a deep breath. "I understand, Grandpa."
Without another word, he left.
Back in his car, Damon angrily hit the steering wheel, his face flushed with rage.
"Seb!"
He spat the name through gritted teeth, his bloodshot eyes filled with fury.
He couldn't believe Seb had found evidence of his misdeeds and was using it to threaten Garry.
He wanted to tell Jesse everything and have Jesse deal with Seb.
But he knew he couldn't.
Neither Jesse nor Seb were forces the Bridges Group could contend with.
The only option was to carefully navigate between the two.
After sitting in the car for several minutes, Damon finally calmed down and started the engine.
He needed a plan to get the Bridges Group out of Seb and Jesse's conflict. Otherwise, no matter who won, the Bridges Group would be the one to suffer.
With that in mind, he dialed Ayla's number. "Do you have time? I need to talk to you about something."
