Chapter 593 I Hope You Won't Interfere in My Affairs Anymore
"I'll handle Sharon's dad. Aunt Carolyn's looking for you two, so stay inside for now and keep a low profile."
Seb nodded, "Got it."
Just as Alton was about to say more, his phone buzzed on the table.
He answered it, and his expression darkened. Standing up, he said, "I gotta go. If you need anything, call me."
With that, Alton rushed out.
Outside Seb's villa, Alton got into his car and told the driver, "Take me to Roach Manor."
Over an hour later, Alton's car pulled up at the entrance of Roach Manor.
He stepped out and rang the doorbell.
The servant hesitated when he saw Alton, remembering Felix's recent order to cut ties with Alton and not let him in.
Seeing the servant's hesitation, Alton frowned and said firmly, "Open the door."
After a moment of indecision, the servant replied, "Mr. Alton Roach, it's not that I don't want to let you in, but Mr. Felix Roach told us not to. If we do, we'll lose half a month's pay. How about I go ask Mr. Felix Roach first?"
Before the servant could finish, Alton handed him a stack of cash.
"This should cover opening the door a few times."
The servant's eyes lit up at the sight of the money, but he didn't dare take it.
"Mr. Alton Roach, I'll still need to ask Mr. Felix Roach first."
The servant quickly turned and walked inside.
Watching the servant's retreating figure, Alton didn't hesitate and entered the villa's code.
After the final digit, a voice announced, "Incorrect code, please try again."
Alton was silent.
Felix had changed the code to keep him out.
A few minutes later, the servant returned, panting, "Mr. Alton Roach, Mr. Felix Roach said he doesn't want to see you."
Alton paused, then took out his phone and dialed Felix's number.
Soon, he heard the busy signal.
Alton laughed bitterly.
He turned to the servant, "Tell him Jeremy has woken up. He should stay out of Aunt Carolyn and Jeremy's conflict, or no one can save the Roach family."
With that, Alton left without another word.
After Alton's car disappeared from view, the servant went inside and relayed Alton's message to Felix.
Felix was furious, slamming the table, "Ungrateful son! He doesn't know how to be grateful and wants to drag me down with him. Not letting him in was the right decision, or who knows how he'd anger me!"
The servant stood silently, knowing Felix could curse Alton, but they couldn't take it seriously.
After venting his anger, Felix felt slightly better.
He took a sip of his cold coffee and glared at the servant, "Forget what he said. If a word gets out, I won't spare you."
Alton and Carolyn's relationship was already strained. If Carolyn heard Alton's words, her resentment would only grow.
"Yes, sir."
Seeing the servant's fearful expression, Felix's gaze softened. "You may go."
After the servant left, Felix called Carolyn, "I heard Jeremy woke up. Is that true?"
Carolyn, on her way back to the estate, frowned, "Yeah."
"What are you going to do? Once Jeremy recovers, he'll want the Stoll family back."
Carolyn's irritation showed, "We'll see. I have things to handle now. Talk later."
She hung up, her face still grim.
The land issue wasn't resolved, and now Jeremy was awake. Those dissatisfied with her might side with Jeremy.
She needed a plan to prevent this.
She had worked hard to secure her position and wouldn't give it up, even if Jeremy was back.
As Carolyn pondered, Gage called.
"Mrs. Stoll, we've captured Darcy. Should we bring him to the estate now?"
Carolyn's eyes turned cold. "Yes."
Back at the estate, Carolyn's first stop was Gareth's room. She heard his angry shouts from outside.
"I've said it many times, I don't want to eat! Get out!"
Accompanied by Gareth's shouts, the sound of overturned dishes echoed.
Carolyn's expression changed. She pushed open the door to see the mess, the trembling servant, and the furious Gareth.
Seeing Carolyn, Gareth's expression darkened, "What do you want?"
The last person Gareth wanted to see was Carolyn. Her presence reminded him of his lost leg and his sense of worthlessness.
Gareth knew he couldn't blame Carolyn, but her many enemies had led to his current state.
Besides, he had no one else to blame but Carolyn.
"I came to check on you."
Carolyn ordered the servant, "Clean up the mess."
"Yes, Mrs. Stoll!"
Seeing Gareth not causing a scene, the servant quickly cleaned up the spilled food and broken dishes.
After the servant left, Carolyn walked to the window, about to open the curtains, when Gareth stopped her.
"Don't open them! I hate sunlight!"
Ignoring him, Carolyn opened the curtains and the window.
Gareth sneered, "Trying to freeze me to death?"
Carolyn turned to him, seeing the once confident Gareth now a prickly, unkempt man, and felt a pang of pain.
She spoke calmly, "Since you returned, the curtains and windows haven't been opened. Gareth, losing a leg is hard for all of us, but life goes on. You can't stay stuck in this pain forever, or you'll never move forward."
Gareth's face fell. "Whether I move forward or not is none of your business. Stay out of my affairs!"
"Don't you want to inherit the Stoll family?"
Gareth's biggest dream was to inherit the Stoll family, with a strict plan.
Now, however, he had become so despondent that he felt like a complete failure. Gareth sneered, "Like this? Can I still inherit the Stoll family?"
Who would let a cripple inherit the Stoll family?
Carolyn's expression was serious. "Why not?"
"Even if you agree, the Stoll family members won't."
Before his accident, many doubted Gareth's ability to lead. Now, they wouldn't miss the chance to attack him.
No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't inherit the Stoll family.
Carolyn's face turned grim. "It's normal for others to give up on you, but if you give up on yourself, then you're truly beyond saving."
With that, Carolyn left without another word.
Watching her leave, Gareth clenched his blanket.
He didn't want to give up, but he had no choice!
The more he thought, the grimmer his expression became.
Carolyn returned to her study. Soon, the butler knocked, "Mrs. Stoll, Gage is here."
Carolyn's eyes turned cold as she stood and walked out.
She quickly reached the hall.
Gage stood there, beside a disheveled, bound Darcy.
Seeing her, Darcy's eyes filled with anger, "Carolyn, I've lost everything. What more do you want?"
Carolyn sat on the couch, coldly looking at Darcy, "Lost everything? I haven't settled the score for Gareth's accident."
Darcy's face turned pale. "What are you talking about? Gareth's accident has nothing to do with me!"
"Whether it does isn't up to you. Since Gareth lost a leg, you'll pay with one."
Darcy's eyes widened, "No! Carolyn! You can't do this!"
Carolyn turned to Gage, "You know what to do."
Without another glance at Darcy, she left.
Darcy's angry, fearful screams echoed behind her, but Carolyn ignored them.
As Carolyn disappeared from view, Darcy's fear grew.
Gage signaled his men, "Break his left leg and dump him somewhere. Whether he survives is up to him."
In the cold winter, Darcy's chances of survival were slim.
Darcy was dragged away, and soon a scream echoed outside.
In Gareth's room.
He was staring at the ceiling when the scream interrupted his thoughts.
Gareth frowned and called the servant, "What was that scream?"
The servant shook her head, "I don't know. I'll ask the butler."
She called the butler, then turned to Gareth, "Mrs. Stoll had Gage capture Darcy and break his leg."
Gareth's eyes narrowed."Why break Darcy's leg? Was my accident related to him?"
