Chapter 590 Everything I Have Is Earned Through My Own Efforts
After his subordinate left, Darcy got up to freshen up.
When he walked into the living room, he found Mary and Ewan already awake. He looked at Mary and said, "Mary, after breakfast, you and Ewan should head to the hospital to take care of Jeremy. I'll handle everything else."
Mary nodded, her eyes filled with worry. "Okay, but please be careful."
"Don't worry. I've faced bigger challenges than this. It's just a minor issue."
"Alright."
After breakfast, Mary and Ewan left.
Darcy was about to gather the others for another meeting when his phone suddenly rang.
Seeing it was Carolyn, Darcy narrowed his eyes and answered, "Carolyn, what's up? Calling me this early?"
"I've returned. Come to the estate immediately."
Darcy's expression changed, clearly not expecting Carolyn to be back so soon.
"Carolyn, you can't be serious."
Carolyn's voice was cold. "I'm dead serious. You'll see when you get here."
With that, Carolyn hung up.
Darcy had a bad feeling. He immediately called another member of the Stoll family who had clearly supported him and Ewan in yesterday's meeting.
It rang for a long time before the other person answered. "Darcy, calling so early, what's up?"
"Did you know Carolyn is back?"
There was a shocked voice on the other end. "What? How did she return so quickly?"
They had estimated Carolyn would be in the South for at least three days, but she had returned after just one night.
"She just called me to come to the estate for a meeting. I suspect the meeting is a pretext, and she actually wants to deal with me."
The man on the other end became anxious. "What should we do?"
"I have to go there now. You gather the others. If you don't hear from me in an hour, storm the estate and get me out. We have no other choice now. We must confront Carolyn head-on."
"Got it. I'll get on it right away."
There were rustling sounds on the other end, likely the man getting dressed.
"Alright, I'm heading over. Be quick."
"Okay."
Darcy hung up and instructed the butler to prepare the car, then headed straight to Carolyn's estate.
As soon as the car stopped at the estate gate, a servant came over to open the door for Darcy, respectfully saying, "Darcy, Mrs. Stoll is waiting for you in the garden. I'll take you there."
Darcy didn't speak, just nodded coldly and followed the servant into the estate.
In the garden gazebo, Carolyn was sipping tea. Seeing Darcy, she smiled.
"Darcy, you got here quickly. Please, have a seat."
Darcy snorted and sat across from Carolyn. "Carolyn, let's cut the crap. Hand over control of the Stoll family, and I'll release Daisy."
Carolyn raised an eyebrow. "And if I refuse?"
Darcy's gaze turned icy. "If you refuse, I'll have to use force. But you know what happens when force is used. I can't guarantee what will happen."
Carolyn chuckled. "So, should I thank you for giving me a choice?"
Seeing Carolyn unperturbed, even smiling, a cold glint flashed in Darcy's eyes.
"Carolyn, we've known each other for years. I don't want things to get ugly. You have more wealth than you could spend in a lifetime, and with Gareth losing a leg, he can't inherit the Stoll family. Hand it over now, and I won't make things difficult for you."
Carolyn set down her teacup, looking calmly at Darcy. "I've said before, my chosen heir is my eldest daughter, Sharon, not Gareth. Whether Gareth is injured or not has nothing to do with the inheritance."
Darcy's face fell. "So, you won't resolve this peacefully."
"From the moment you kidnapped my daughters, peace was no longer an option."
As Carolyn finished speaking, a dozen men in black appeared around the gazebo, surrounding them.
Darcy's expression changed. "Carolyn, what are you doing?"
"Showing you who really controls the Stoll family!"
At Carolyn's command, the men in black subdued Darcy in less than two minutes.
Pinned to the ground, Darcy glared at Carolyn. "Carolyn, you don't think I came unprepared, do you? Before I came, I had Anthony gather our people. This estate is surrounded!"
Expecting Carolyn to panic, Darcy was surprised when she just laughed. "Darcy, didn't you know? Anthony works for me."
Darcy's eyes widened in disbelief. "No way!"
Anthony had always been on his side, plotting against Carolyn with ruthless plans. How could he be Carolyn's man?
Carolyn looked at him with pity. "You're just now figuring it out? If you don't believe me, I'll have Anthony come here."
She called Anthony. "Come to the estate immediately."
Anthony, already at the gate, arrived at the gazebo in less than five minutes.
He glanced at the restrained Darcy, then turned to Carolyn. "Mrs. Stoll, what can I do for you?"
Seeing this, Darcy finally believed Carolyn.
Feeling furious and resentful, he shouted, "Anthony, I treated you like a brother, and you're Carolyn's man! You're a traitor!"
Anthony looked at Darcy calmly. "Darcy, you forget who gave us a place to stay, but I haven't forgotten. Mrs. Stoll is my benefactor. I won't let anyone harm her, not even you."
Darcy was stunned for a few seconds, then laughed bitterly. "She gave us a chance, but my success is my own doing, nothing to do with her! We serve the Stoll family, not this woman!"
Anthony shook his head. "Darcy, don't make yourself out to be a hero. You kidnapped Daisy not for the Stoll family, but for Mary, the woman you love."
Over the years, Anthony had watched Darcy fall for Mary and do crazy things for her. He knew Darcy would ultimately fail because of her.
Darcy, enraged, said, "Anthony, I'll never forgive you!"
Anthony didn't respond, turning to Carolyn instead.
"Mrs. Stoll, I've rescued Daisy. As for Mary and Ewan, they're at the hospital, guarded by Jeremy's men. We couldn't bring them here."
Carolyn nodded. "You've done well. From now on, you'll take over all of Darcy's business."
"Yes, Mrs. Stoll."
Hearing this, Darcy's face twisted with anger. "Carolyn, you have no right! Jeremy won't let you get away with this!"
"Jeremy is bedridden. Do you think he has time for you? From now on, you're no longer part of the Stoll family. I'll take back all your wealth and status. If you think your success is your own doing, then start over."
With that, Carolyn waved, and the men in black took Darcy away.
"No, Carolyn, you can't do this! Let me go! Let me go, you fools!"
Darcy's voice faded away and soon disappeared.
Anthony stood silently, as if he hadn't seen or heard anything.
Carolyn turned to him. "How's the investigation on Sharon?"
"According to my findings, Seb is in Stellaria. After Ms. Roach was taken by Ross, Seb took her."
Carolyn sneered. "Not bankrupting Silvercrest Group gave him an opportunity. Have you found his location?"
Anthony shook his head, looking troubled. "Not yet."
Carolyn frowned. "What's going on? How can you not find him?"
"Someone seems to be helping him. My men lost track of him last night."
"Keep looking. Find him today and bring him here!"
"Yes, Mrs. Stoll."
After Anthony left, Carolyn sat in the gazebo for a while. Just as she was about to change and go to the hospital, Daisy returned.
Seeing Carolyn, Daisy ran over, looking aggrieved. "Mom, you don't know how much I suffered last night. Darcy locked me in a basement with rats. If you had come any later, I would have been scared to death!"
As Daisy reached out to hug her, Carolyn quickly stepped back in disgust. "You're filthy. Go take a bath."
After sending Daisy off, Carolyn had the butler prepare the car and went to the hospital herself.
It was over an hour later when she arrived.
As soon as Carolyn stepped into the room, Mary stood up, blocking her from Jeremy.
"Carolyn, what are you doing here? You're not welcome!"
Seeing Mary's protective stance, Carolyn sneered and walked over, pulling out a chair to sit down. "Mary, you shouldn't ask why I'm here. You should ask why it's me and not Darcy."
