Chapter 76 Do you think the Smith family is easy to bully?

After Sharon's words, the others immediately realized, looking at Rebecca and Emily with some dissatisfaction.

"Yeah! Emily losing the necklace has nothing to do with us, so why search our bags?"

"It's just a lousy necklace worth a hundred million dollars; any family can easily produce seven or eight of them, there's no need for anyone to steal anything."

Sensing the unfriendly gazes from everyone, Rebecca's eyes flashed coldly.

She didn't expect Sharon to be so sharp-tongued and difficult to deal with. But soon, she wouldn't be so proud.

Rebecca sighed and said helplessly, "I came up with this idea to prove everyone's innocence and to help Emily find the necklace. After all, that necklace holds significant meaning for her."

"What does that have to do with us? If it's so important, why didn't she keep it at home instead of wearing it out?"

"Exactly, she lost it herself and still has the nerve to search our bags. I won't agree to it!"

"If you care so much about it, I'll buy you one right now. Don't delay the charity banquet."

Seeing everyone siding with Sharon, Emily unconsciously bit her lip with disgusted eyes.

If this continued, she definitely won't be able to frame Sharon tonight.

She had to come up with a plan!

She looked at everyone, took a deep breath, and said, "Everyone, please don't get angry. I originally wanted to give the person who took my necklace a chance to return it voluntarily, but since they refuse, I won't give them any face anymore."

"I was afraid of losing the necklace earlier, so I had someone install a tracker in it."

After speaking, she took out her phone and quickly tapped on the screen, seemingly looking for the necklace's location.

Daniel frowned, his face darkening. However, he said nothing.

Soon, she raised her voice. "I found it!"

Everyone immediately looked at her, but she looked at Sharon coldly and said in disbelief, "Ms. Wright, I didn't expect you to be the thief!"

When she said that, everyone in the hall was stunned. After all, the Smith family was so wealthy; Sharon wouldn't need to steal a necklace. But just now, when Rebecca suggested checking everyone's bags, she immediately opposed it.

If Sharon wasn't guilty, she didn't need to panic.

Everyone's eyes unconsciously fell on her bag, and even Alex beside her had doubtful eyes.

After all, he had tried to help Sharon with her bag earlier, but she refused.

Thinking back, her instinctive refusal did seem a bit odd.

If Emily's necklace was really in there, the Smith family's reputation would be completely ruined tonight.

Sharon couldn't help but laugh.

She didn't expect Emily to make up such nonsense about a tracker.

If she didn't know the truth, she might've been fooled by Emily.

"Ms. Young, are you sure?" Sharon asked.

Seeing her calm demeanor, Emily said coldly, "I tracked the necklace's location to be closest to you, so it must be in your bag. Dare you to open your bag and let me check?"

Sharon nodded. "I dare. However, if I open my bag and it isn't there, how will you apologize? After all, slandering someone is illegal."

Seeing Sharon's confident face, Emily sneered, "If it's not there, I'll kneel and apologize to you!"

Sharon raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

"I mean it!"

"Alright, then everyone here can be a witness. Ms. Young said that if my bag doesn't have her necklace, she'll kneel and apologize to me."

Emily's face turned cold, gritting her teeth. "Stop talking nonsense and open your bag."

Sharon smiled and opened her bag. A diamond necklace lay inside, sparkling under the light.

Emily's face lit up with joy, sneering, "Ms. Wright, you said you didn't steal it, but what's there in your bag?"

Several people close to Sharon also saw the diamond necklace, their gazes toward Sharon filled with disdain and contempt.

"Who would've thought Mr. Smith married a thief? Tsk tsk tsk, the Smith family's reputation is completely ruined tonight!"

"I thought it was strange when she vehemently refused to have her bag searched earlier. Turns out she really did steal Emily's necklace!"

"People who used to be well-off and then fell from grace often have twisted minds. Now, they even resort to stealing for money!"

The mocking and disdainful gazes around made Alex feel extremely embarrassed, his gaze toward Sharon turning icy cold. "Sharon, am I not giving you enough money? Why would you do such a thing!"

Sharon glanced at him, his fierce and angry eyes unfamiliar to her.

She even suspected that if it weren't for the crowd, he might've grabbed her by the throat and questioned her.

She smiled. "Alex, you've really changed."

In the past, he would never have doubted her, but now he believed she was a thief.

Indeed, when people's hearts changed, their eyes became blind as well.

Taking out the diamond necklace from her bag, Sharon held it up in front of Emily and said, "Ms. Young, take a good look. Is this your necklace? If I remember correctly, Ms. Walker mentioned earlier that your necklace pendant is a swan encrusted with diamonds."

Under the light, the necklace in Sharon's hand was small and exquisite, with a heart-shaped pink diamond pendant; clearly different from what Rebecca described.

It was the one she wore to the banquet.

Emily's pupils contracted sharply, disbelief in her eyes. "Impossible, how can this be? My necklace must still be in your bag!"

Sharon handed her the bag, smiling. "Why don't you look for it yourself?"

Emily grabbed her bag and emptied its contents, trying to find her diamond necklace. After several searches, she still couldn't find it.

How was this possible?

Seeing Emily's panicked face, Sharon's smile deepened. "Ms. Young, did you find it?"

Seeing her smile, anger flashed in Emily's eyes as she gritted her teeth. "You must've hidden it elsewhere. Where did you hide it? Give it back to me!"

"Ms. Young, don't you think your words are ridiculous? You were the one who confidently said it had a tracker and the tracker was in my bag. Now that you can't find it, it's suddenly hidden somewhere else?"

"Since you have a tracker, you should be able to find where the necklace is, right? Why don't you keep looking?"

Emily's face turned pale, her grip on Sharon's bag turning white.

At that moment, everyone present understood what was going on.

It was obvious Emily had planted the necklace in Sharon's bag, intending to frame her. However, Sharon discovered it and turned the tables.

Realizing this, everyone looked at Emily disdainfully.

She had orchestrated this lowly scheme at the banquet to frame Sharon, only to be outplayed. She deserved it!

Seeing Emily biting her lip in silence, Sharon said calmly, "Ms. Young, you said earlier that if my bag didn't have your necklace, you'd kneel and apologize to me, right?"

When she said that, Emily angrily retorted, "Shut up! I'll never kneel to you; you're not worth it!"

Daniel, who had been silent, finally said coldly, "Emily, that's enough!"

He clearly saw that this was all her doing, but having grown up with her and being his first love, he couldn't watch her kneel and apologize to Sharon in front of everyone.

Daniel looked at Alex apologetically. "Mr. Smith, this was indeed Emily's fault. I apologize on her behalf to you and Mrs. Smith. Whatever compensation Mrs. Smith wants, I'll do my best. Please show some mercy."

Before Alex could speak, Sharon sneered and raised an eyebrow at him, "Mr. Thomas, what is your relationship with Ms. Young? Who gives you the right to apologize on her behalf? Moreover, I don't need compensation; I just want Ms. Young to keep her word."

Daniel frowned, his gaze toward Sharon turning hostile. "Mrs. Smith, I thought you would be a reasonable person."

"Being reasonable doesn't mean being a pushover. If someone tries to slander me and I don't fight back, won't everyone think I'm easy?" Sharon said.

Knowing he had wronged her, Alex felt guilty.

However, Smith Group had many collaborations with BioTech Innovations Group. If he offended Daniel, their future collaborations might be jeopardized.

It 'd be better to give Daniel a favor now, ensuring smooth future collaborations.

Alex added, "Sharon, why don't we let this go? After all, you didn't lose anything, and Mr. Thomas has offered compensation. How about just an apology from Ms. Young?"

Sharon found it laughable.

Alex had indeed learned to weigh the pros and cons, and she was destined to be the sacrifice.

Just as she was about to speak, a cold voice suddenly came from the hall entrance. "You think a simple apology will suffice after slandering the Smith family for theft? Mr. Thomas, do you think we're easy to bully?"
