Chapter 118 Why Did You Suddenly Want a Divorce?
Alex frowned, clearly annoyed.
Sharon didn't even look at him, just got in the car.
They drove back in silence.
At every red light, Alex glanced at Sharon, like he wanted to say something but didn't. Sharon just stared out the window, not interested in talking.
When they finally reached Sharon's apartment, she opened the door to leave. Alex couldn't hold back anymore.
"Sharon, my dad's scheme against Uncle Seb tonight—did you have anything to do with it?"
Sharon turned, eyes cold. "Why would you think that?"
Alex's face darkened. After a pause, he shook his head. "No, I just noticed you were gone for a bit and wondered."
"If you want the truth, ask your dad."
With that, Sharon got out and left.
Back home, Sharon sat on the couch, pulled out her phone, and found Seb's number. After a moment's hesitation, she called.
The phone rang a few times before Seb picked up, but he didn't say anything. Just breathing.
Sharon lowered her eyes and spoke slowly, "Uncle Seb, you said if I ever wanted a divorce, I could call you. I want to divorce Alex now. Can you help me?"
She could hear Seb's breathing get heavier.
"Why do you want a divorce now? Because of my brother's scheme tonight?"
"That's part of it."
Sharon didn't want to explain further.
Seb was silent for a few seconds, then said quietly, "Come to my office tomorrow morning."
After hanging up, Sharon put down her phone, covered her eyes with her hand, and sighed.
If Seb found out she was using him, he'd never forgive her.
But thinking about what Alex and David had done to her and her family, Sharon's resolve hardened.
Being close to Seb would make it easier to investigate David.
In the end, she was just looking out for herself.
The next morning, Sharon got up early, spent half an hour on makeup, and wore a waist-cinching dress.
She headed straight to the top floor of the company.
When she walked into Seb's office, he was about to look at some documents. Seeing her, a complex emotion flashed in his eyes.
"You're wearing makeup today?"
Sharon paused, then nodded. "Yes."
Seb didn't call her out on it. He liked that she made an effort for him.
After she sat down, he finally spoke, "You said you wanted to divorce Alex. Are you serious?"
"Yes, there's no point in staying married to him."
Sharon knew Alex wouldn't agree to a divorce without Seb's help.
"How much do you want in the property division?"
Sharon looked surprised. She hadn't expected Seb to help with that too.
"If I can get 50%, great. If not, that's fine. I just want the divorce."
"Alright, I understand. You can go now."
Seeing Seb's indifferent expression, Sharon hesitated before speaking softly. "Uncle Seb, I once talked to him about divorce. He was very resistant."
Seb chuckled, raising an eyebrow. "You think I can't handle it?"
Sharon shook her head. "That's not what I meant. I just wanted to say, whether it works out or not, I really appreciate it, Uncle Seb."
"I don't need words of gratitude."
Sharon looked up, meeting Seb's intense gaze. She quickly looked away, feeling uneasy.
"Then what do you want, Uncle Seb?"
"I'll tell you after the divorce is done."
Sharon bit her lip. "Okay."
Once she left Seb's office, his intense gaze faded, and Sharon sighed in relief.
She had a vague idea of what Seb wanted.
But she had made her decision and wouldn't regret it, no matter the cost.
At the elevator, Sharon ran into Rebecca.
Rebecca's smile vanished when she saw Sharon.
"Ms. Wright, this is the CEO's office, not your lab."
Rebecca, noticing Sharon's effort to dress up, tightened her grip on the documents, her gaze almost murderous.
Sharon remained indifferent. "Miss Walker, I'm not your subordinate. Where I go is none of your business."
Rebecca sneered. "Just a reminder, you're Alex's wife, Seb's niece-in-law. Remember your place."
"No need for reminders, Miss Walker."
Sharon stepped into the elevator and looked at Rebecca. "Scheming behind others won't go unnoticed. Bad deeds have consequences."
Rebecca's face changed, understanding Sharon's reference to Emily's actions against Sophie.
The elevator doors closed, cutting off Sharon's cold gaze.
Rebecca took a deep breath. No matter Sharon's suspicions, she had no evidence.
Her focus now was making Seb fall for her.
Once she married Seb, dealing with Sharon would be easy.
That evening, after work, Sharon drove to the hospital to see Robert.
As she reached the ward door, she heard arguing inside.
Her face changed, and she quickly pushed the door open. Seeing Ava, her pupils contracted sharply.
"Ava, what are you doing here!"
Everyone turned to look at her. Ava's smile deepened.
"Ms. Wright, I came to see Uncle Wright, but they don't seem to welcome me."
"Get out now!"
Sharon's face was full of anger. Ava had the nerve to come to Robert's ward and cause trouble!
Ava looked at her mockingly. "Sharon, if I were you, I'd divorce Alex. I'm carrying his child now."
"Get out!"
"Fine, I'll leave. I don't want to stay here anyway. It smells poor, it's suffocating."
Ava waved her hand in front of her nose, looking disgusted, and walked past Sharon, leaving directly.
Sharon looked at Robert lying on the bed, avoiding his eyes, afraid of seeing disappointment.
"Dad, Aunt Karen, I'm sorry. I didn't know she'd come and cause trouble. Dad, don't be angry. Your health comes first."
Robert sighed. "Sharon, when I saw her hugging Alex at the hospital last time, I already knew. I'm not disappointed, just feel bad for you."
