Chapter 181 Your Affection is Worth a Lot

He had just stepped out of the car when a figure appeared at the apartment entrance.

Seb froze, his eyes turning icy.

Leo stopped Sharon, looking down at her.

Sharon frowned slightly. Her simple, natural beauty stirred something in Leo.

"What's up?"

Seeing her distance, Leo's eyes showed disappointment, but he forced a smile.

"Sharon, I just saw Robert. He misses you. If you're free tomorrow night, let's visit him."

Sharon pressed her lips together. "Got it. If I'm free, I'll go."

Not wanting more contact with Leo, Sharon prepared to leave.

Leo was about to stop her when he felt a cold stare. He turned to see Seb approaching, looking furious.

Sharon saw Seb too, her eyes showing mixed emotions.

'Why is Seb here? He already announced his reconciliation with Grace,' Sharon thought.

Ignoring Seb, Sharon walked to the elevator and pressed the button.

Leo smiled. "Mr. Smith, what brings you here?"

"I'm here to see her. It's none of your business."

"How is it none of my business? I'm Sharon's brother. You have a girlfriend now. Isn't it inappropriate to see Sharon privately?"

Seb glared at Leo. "This is between Sharon and me. Stay out of it."

"But Sharon doesn't want to see you."

Seb's gaze turned even colder.

Leo's smile stayed, meeting Seb's eyes without fear.

As they faced off, the elevator doors opened.

Sharon, wanting to avoid them, walked into the elevator.

As the doors were closing, a hand blocked them, and they reopened.

Sharon looked at Seb, her eyes cold. "Mr. Smith, do you need something?"

"We need to talk."

Meeting Seb's cold eyes, Sharon paused, sensing the need to clarify things.

"Okay." She agreed.

She walked out of the elevator and went outside with Seb.

"Sharon."

Leo called softly, "I'll be right here. If anything happens, just call me."

"Nothing will happen. You can go back."

Leo's smile froze, and his hand clenched tightly.

At a quiet spot near the entrance, Sharon looked at Seb coldly.

"What do you want to talk about?"

"Sharon, about my reconciliation with Grace..."

Sharon cut him off, "I'm not interested. You don't need to explain. I agreed to talk to make things clear. Since you two got back together, there's no possibility between us. Keep your distance. Don't come to my apartment again. I don't want to be mistaken for a homewrecker."

Seb's brows furrowed, and the air around him turned cold.

"I know you won't believe me now, but in three months, I'll explain everything."

"No need. It doesn't matter."

Seeing Sharon's indifferent expression, Seb's eyes darkened. "Sharon, the one I love is you."

Sharon looked up at Seb. His handsome face still made her heart flutter, but she was done with the uncertainty and loss.

Sharon thought she could handle it, but now she realized that truly loving someone meant she couldn't tolerate any other woman around him.

"Alex said he loved me, but that didn't stop him from cheating with Ava. You say you love me, but that didn't stop you from getting back with Grace. Maybe you think your love is something special. Just because you love me, I should be grateful and accept whatever you do."

Seb frowned. "That's not what I mean."

Sharon smiled. "It doesn't matter what you mean. Since you chose Grace over me, we're done."

The calm in her eyes made Seb panic, sensing he was really losing her.

"Sharon."

"We've said everything that needs to be said. Let's end it here."

Seb and Alex's love was always too high and mighty, never equal.

She didn't want that kind of love.

Back home, Sharon had just sat down on the couch when she got a call from Mark.

"Ms. Wright, the property division between you and Mr. Smith is complete. You will receive $5.6 million. Also, there's been progress in David's case. Are you free tomorrow to discuss it in detail?"

"Sure, I have time after work tomorrow."

After setting the time and place to meet, Sharon put down her phone and grabbed clothes for a shower, thinking about what to do about David.

Now that she and Seb had broken up, the Smith family wouldn't hesitate to act against her. If she continued to oppose them, it wouldn't be good for her.

But Sharon was unwilling to give up just like that.

She had worked hard to get David in jail. If he got out this time, it would be even harder to put him back in the future.

After thinking for a while without figuring it out, Sharon decided to stop overthinking and wait until she met with Mark the next day.

The next evening came quickly, and Mark arrived with the property division contract.

"Ms. Wright, Mr. Smith has already signed. If everything looks good to you, please sign here."

Sharon took the contract, skimmed through it, and signed after confirming there were no issues.

After signing, she and Alex were completely done, with no further ties.

Handing the contract back to Mark, Sharon asked about David's case.

Mark's expression turned serious. "Ms. Wright, the Smith family is already getting involved and intervening in this matter. David is unlikely to be sentenced. You should be prepared for that."

Hearing this, Sharon looked down in silence. She knew the Smith family had immense power in Metropolis. She had only managed to get David into the police station by catching them off guard.

"I understand. Let's play it by ear."

Mark nodded. "I'll do my best with this case, but the outcome might..."

"I understand. Even if it doesn't go well, I won't blame you."

They talked a bit more about the case before Mark had to head back to the law firm for some overtime work, and they parted ways.

Back home, the books Sharon had ordered had arrived.

Two thick stacks, all study materials for her GRE.

Sharon moved the books inside and sorted them out. Seeing that it was still early, she decided to study for an hour.

With less than two months until the exam registration, she needed to make the most of her time to study, hoping to pass the exam this time.

In the following days, Sharon spent all her free time studying, and soon it was Saturday.

Early in the morning, Sharon received a call from Ashley, saying she was already downstairs.
