Chapter 71 I won't go see her!

Sharon was stunned for a moment, then lowered her eyes and calmly said, "Ms. Walker, I'm afraid I can't help you. I'm not familiar with Mr. Seb."

"You're all family, how could you not be familiar? Ms. Wright, you just don't want to help me, do you?" Rebecca's eyes were probing.

The last time she went to the Smiths for dinner, she noticed Seb looking at Sharon strangely.

She pondered it for a while after returning home, still feeling something was off. So, she investigated Sharon and found that Sharon was now working at Silvercrest Group. She decided to test Sharon's attitude toward Seb.

Sharon looked at Rebecca. "Ms. Walker, it's not that I don't want to, but we're really not close. I still have work to finish in the lab, so I'll excuse myself."

After saying this, she stood up and turned to leave.

Rebecca stared at her back, coldness flashing in her eyes.

It seemed that Sharon wasn'tt easy to deal with. She'd have to be cautious in the future.

Back in the lab, Sharon started her afternoon experiment. Before she knew it, it was already time to get off work. She only realized it was past six in the evening when Alex called her, "Sharon, I'm downstairs at Silvercrest Group. I'll pick you up and take you home."

She packed her things and walked to the elevator.

Silvercrest Group's workday ended at five, and Seb didn't encourage employees to work overtime, so there weren't many people around at this hour.

Soon, the elevator came down from the top floor.

When the doors opened, Sharon saw Seb and Rebecca inside, her steps faltering. "Mr. Smith, Ms. Walker."

Rebecca smiled and nodded at her, while Seb looked cold and treated her as if she were invisible.

She clearly saw that when the elevator doors opened, Seb had a faint smile while chatting with Rebecca.

It seemed that he really disliked her. However, this was also the result she wanted.

Walking into the elevator, she turned her back to them.

Rebecca's soft voice echoed in the elevator. "Mr. Smith, I know a newly opened restaurant that's quite good. How about we go there for dinner tonight?"

"Sure, it's up to you." Seb's voice was deep. Sharon felt like there was some gentleness in it, though she was unsure if it was just her imagination.

They'd be a good match if they got together.

Trying hard to ignore the discomfort in her heart, Sharon looked up at the numbers above the elevator. For the first time, she felt like reaching the eight floor from the first was incredibly long.

Seb, whose already cold eyes grew even colder, noticed her subtle actions.

Finally, the elevator reached the first floor.

After Sharon walked out, she heard Rebecca's laughing voice. "Mr. Alex and Ms. Wright are so close. He even comes to pick her up from work."

The elevator doors closed and went down to the basement level, so Sharon didn't hear Seb's response. However, she assumed he'd agree with Rebecca.

She walked out of the building and saw Alex's car parked by the roadside.

Sharon walked over, opened the car door, and as soon as she sat down, Alex handed her a bouquet of flowers.

Seeing her favorite sunflowers, she was momentarily stunned.

Alex said, "I remember you used to love sunflowers the most. I hope I got it right this time."

Seeing the cautious flattery in his eyes, she felt no emotion.

Since the time she was kidnapped and called him for help, only for Ava to answer, she lost feelings for him.

She smiled and took the flowers. "Thank you, I like them very much."

As Alex started the car, he said, "I'm glad you like them. From now on, I'll pick you up from work every day, okay?"

"There's no need for that. I bought a car for commuting, and you're busy with work, too."

Seeing Sharon's indifferent look, Alex had to drop the idea.

Although she had moved back in, he found her even more distant from him.

This feeling made him very uncomfortable, but he didn't know how to get things back in place.

The car was silent. Sharon turned to look out the window, lost in thought.

In the past, when they were alone together, she always had endless things to say. However, she wouldn't even start a conversation now.

Alex sighed inwardly, thinking he'd have to take it slow.

As they neared the villa, his phone suddenly rang from his pocket.

He asked, "Sharon, can you get my phone out?"

Taking out the phone, Sharon saw 'Ava' flashing on the screen, and Alex frowned. "Don't answer it."

He had clearly warned Ava not to contact him, yet she ignored it.

Thinking of this, he felt anger and guilt.

He glanced at Sharon, expecting her to be angry or jealous, but she remained calm.

"You should answer it, in case it's something important." With that, she answered the call, put it on speaker, and held the phone out to Alex.

The black Cayenne stopped abruptly in the middle of the road. Alex looked at Sharon with disbelief and hurt in his eyes.

Had she accepted the situation, or did she no longer care about him?

"Alex, my stomach hurts a bit. Can you come over?" Ava's panicked voice echoed, but Alex only felt annoyed. "Why are you calling me if your stomach hurts? I'm not a doctor. Call Joseph if you need something. Don't contact me again."

Without giving Ava a chance to respond, Alex snatched the phone and hung up.

"You should go over, just in case something really is wrong..." Sharon said.

"Shut up!" he yelled, his eyes filled with anger as he looked at her.

She frowned but didn't say anything more.

She could tell her was very angry and didn't want to provoke him further.

The car was filled with suffocating silence for several minutes before he coldly said, "Aren't you going to say something?"

She pressed her lips together and slowly replied, "If you're calm now, let's drive home."

"Sharon!" he couldn't suppress his frustration and growled, his eyes bloodshot as he looked at her.

He added, "You're telling me to go to Ava. Don't you feel sad or pained?"

What he really wanted to ask was if she no longer loved him, but he didn't dare to.

He was afraid of getting a direct answer.

Sharon's expression remained calm, with emotionless eyes. "She's pregnant now. It's only right for you to take care of her."

Alex sneered, "What about you? Are you willing to let your husband be with another woman?"

Sharon said, "Even if I'm not willing, would you still go?"

Facing her sharp gaze, Alex's pupils contracted as he instinctively retorted, "If you don't want me to, I won't!!"
